Body for Life- 12 Weeks to Mental and Physical Strength

4 stars (Thank you Bill) - The approach presented by Bill Phillips in "Body for Life" worked fine for me. However, the problem is that you have to have a real commitment and a really strong will power to follow the regime presented by the author. Also, in my opinion, there is too much focus on the looks and too little on the health. I think the latter is more important than the former. I have recently found a book that shifts the attention more towards health and overall wellbeing and it gives you no trouble whatsoever to follow simple rules for food combinations, body cleansing etc. Although I have a lot of respect for Bill Phillips as my first coach I think that "Can We Live 150 Year"s is a superior book to "Body for Life". Sorry Bill. 5 stars (My second copy of this book!) - A terrific book and a great program. This book is actually my second copy, since my first copy completely fell apart after so much use. It is truly a fantastic way to get in shape. I had suffered a couple of serious injuries and have been unable to work out much for the last year, but before the injuries I was well on my way to transforming my body for life. Now, I'm mended and ready to start all over again. It's amazing to see how quickly this program changes your body - with much less effort and sacrifice than a lot of other "get fit quick" programs. The eating for life portion of the book is a little tough to follow at times, since I do enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine now and then, but I just modify it, work out a little harder and enjoy my little treat now and then anyway. The free day allows you to eat whatever you want once a week so you don't feel too deprived, but I found that after you start seeing the changes in your body, you'll be reluctant to just pig out. It's nice to treat yourself without feeling guilty. Buy the book, follow the program and you really will see a completely new body in your mirror in a few months! 5 stars (This program is AWESOME!!!) - Guys don't waste y...

3 stars (Good) - I like the different exercises on every other day- it worked out pretty well for me with my week days- but some of the info seems to be rehashed over and over again in his books.Some of the moves bothered my low back at times- morning vs the evening so I changed around the execersies it seem to work. Hope this helps. 3 stars (2nd best, but it DOES rank!) - I think Jorge Cruise has a lot to offer and I certainly love his technique, but I believe his first book "8 Minutes in the Morning: A Simple Way to Shed up to 2 Pounds a Week Guaranteed" was by far #1. Here's why: - 8 min. flat belly had a lot of repeat information from the original 8 minutes, which is to be expected because they both market to others, but if you have already read and followed the original 8 minutes book, I doubt you'll appreciate this one. - I FELT a lot thinner in all areas while doing the original 8 minutes routine than I ever did while doing the flat belly program. It reccommends mixing hip and thigh spot training with all over body moves, I just didn't feel a difference. - The original has a few paragraphs of motivation before every routine, lean hips doesn't. The motivation was a big factor for me. - The original has different routines every day for 4 weeks!! Lean hips has only 1 week of each level (easy, intermediate, hard). I know every body is different and perhaps if you begin with this book you would like it, but my overall opinion is that the original is #1!! 5 stars (8 Minutes in the Morning to Lean Hips and Thin Thighs) - This is THE exercise and eating plan book I've been needing all my life! The exercises are so easy and very little equipment is needed. Everyone can spare 8 minutes a day to do them. I feel great, have lost 11 lbs., and my pants are baggy in my thighs in just 4 weeks. The eating plan is very sensible and nutritional. I don't feel deprived at all because I can eat carbs, snacks and a daily treat. The book is easy to read and understand and is ...

5 stars (Good and Practical) - I expect to hear many success stories of people following Jorge Cruise's "8 minutes in the morning" routine. It is really easy to follow as it takes neither a lot of time nor a lot of effort. I think it is a plan for anyone. I suggest anyone who is interested in health to consider purchasing this book. Suggested meals are also tasty. What I especially like about Jorge Cruise is that he does not suggest any diet that requires giving up some ingredients such as fats or carbohydrates. NO counting of calories or banning of foods - that fits me well! Similar like M. Tombak in his book "Can We Live 150 Year?" Jorge Cruise makes sure that you have a balanced diet. Dr. Tombak, however, focused more at one's health and longevity rather than good looks. But surprisingly, when you follow Tombak's advice good looks just come about as a natural outcome of good physical and psychological health. If you add to this your "8 minutes in the morning" plan, you are set for success... 3 stars (more to it than the title) - What the title and other reviews here don't tell you is that Jorge recommends you cleanse your system every Saturday with a laxative. Not the way I want to spend my weekend. 2 stars (YOU NEED MORE THAN 8 but good choices) - I Look for books all the time on this topic to see if there any new moves I can pick up to help shape and tone the stomach area which is a problem for most of us. I think if you are just starting out this book will help you understand the positions you need to get into but it's going to take alot more than 8 minutes to get results and I have been training for years. ...

4 stars (Lots of information) - Love this book!! Tells you alot of stuff you need to know if you are a beginner in the bike world. I reread parts of it alot and know it will be checked many times again for its valuable information. 5 stars (Great fitness aid) - As a beginner to cycling, I was looking for a book to help me improve both my skill level and my fitness. I purchased this book based on some of the recommendations provided by other readers, and am very glad I did. It has been a great tool in helping me achieve both of my goals. Lots of useful information about planning your fitness/training program, and good schedules for beginning cyclists. It may be a bit too basic for the more advanced cyclist. 3 stars (Not for Beginners) - First, let me start by saying I am a Lance Fan! I admire his accomplishments and believe he is one of the good people on our planet. Now about this book. It is a good book full of pratical ideas and plans to improve one's cycling, however, I think that a beginner might have difficulty in following all of the terms,descriptions and detailed plans provided. I have been cycling for over 20 years and I believe that my experience allowed me to grasp the concepts presented. In addition to the valuable information provided there are the obligatory chapters covering fitness, diet and mental preparedness. I believe a reader with years of fitness experience will find this information to be basic. It is information you would have most likely read in other fitness training type books. If your intent on buying this book is for training I would recommend it (with the caveat previously mentioned). If your intent is to be motivated and you are a Lance fan - buy "It's Not About the Bike" and "Every Second Counts". ...
