Inside the Magic Kingdom - Disney-s Seven Secrets To Success

5 stars (Good reminders of things companies tend to forget) - I thought this book did a great job of conveying its message. To the reviewer who said "The sophisticated executive will not get past the first chapter. Both my husband and I are in upper management and have returned this book", I think you need to give it a chance. I'm sure some of the executives at my company would say the same thing, but as a 20 year employee, I can see many lessons that they could learn from this simple book. Many execs have blinders on - the point of the book is to help remove them! 5 stars (INSIDE THE MOUSE'S HEAD) - INSIDE THE MAGIC KINGDOM is a terrific read just to have a look at how Disney does what it does with its company and theme parks from the standpoint of customer service. Incredible stuff. You won't believe what pains Disney takes to make us more comfortable and, of course, amenable to making a return trip or purchase. The real "magic" of this book are the applications that anyone can make of its principles to a customer service or to attention to detail that one intends to make in ones own life. Disney does not own the principles here and they can be learned and used by anyone who wants to improve his organization's (or personal) customer service strategy. THE HORSEMAN 5 stars (McDisney) - Inside the Magic Kingdom is a great book when read just to get information about why Disney does what it does with its company and theme parks from the standpoint of customer service. The real power, as I see it, of this book come from seeing that, like McDonalds, Disney has discovered how to apply a customer service attitude across all areas of their business operations. Moreover, these principles are not proprietary and can be learned and applied by anyone seeking to improve his or her company's (or personal) customer service strategy. Read the book and apply the lessons and don't get too hung up on the dialogue of things. ...

The New Interpreter-s Study Bible- New Revised Standard Version With the Apocrypha

5 stars (Desert-island Bible for Moderates) - This is the one Bible I would take with me unhesitatingly to a deserted island. The notes are based off the larger 12-volume commentary set, and are concise and incredibly thorough. They are critical, honest, and sober. It is also more moderate than the New Oxford Annotated Bible (third edition) and the HarperCollins Study Bible. Both Bibles tend to shy away from affirming topics like Jesus' divinity, but the NISB readily acknowledges Christological and even Trinitarian passages in Scripture. Moderates will love this Bible. Those that are too "liberal" (I quote from others) may not like it because it does have some pretty specific views on certain topics. Those that are too "conservative" may not like it because it is still a critical Bible. But those who sit in the middle will love it, as I do. As a youth director, I love it because it does give some spiritual insights into Scripture that other critical Bibles do not. As an educator, I love it because I have an historically and theologically honest Bible that covers everything I want to say in class. Other Bibles are too rigid, I think, either in their so-called conservatism, or so-called liberalism (do we really need labels?). I must agree with Bruce Metzger, that this Bible is ideal for pastors, students, and academically minded laypersons. Therefore, were you to banish me to a desert island, this would be the one Bible I took with me. 5 stars (NISB NRSV w/ Apocrypha) - An excellent ecumenical Bible. It does not lean toward the conservative interpretation nor to the liberal. It is a scholarly annotation with appropriate translations for Hebrew and Greek words and phrases. Anyone could read the notes and gain a better understanding of the history and religious traditions prevalent at the time of the original writing. These annotations seek to inform rather than convert the reader. Cross references are helpful and numerous. 4 stars (NISB for serious study.) -...

5 stars (Excellent Read, Great Information) - I love this book. It was the very first guide that I read. However, it has to be taken in perspective. This book is even better en tandem with The Unofficial Guide. Then you have all the information you could possibly need. The Unofficial Guide provides much needed balance, to the official line. This book will get you excited and high as a kite about your trip- which is great. It will tell you about all the wonderful things there are to do and great opportunities that are largely missed. The Unofficial will then proceed to give you a reality check about them and help you set realistic goals and have realistic expectations. This helps so that you're not disappointed. I used these two guides plus the Passporter (for organization) and we had the best trip in the world. We went in August, stayed on property, got around without having to rent a car or wait in long lines in the heat. We saw people looking like they were gonna pass out from heat exhaustion, but we sailed through our trip like a breeze and can't wait to go again. I read Fodor's, Frommer's (excluding the Irrevernt Guide), the Everything Guide, Rita Aero's,Eyewitness (waste of paper), Hassle Free Disney and tons more thru the years- NONE of the others are needed. The best plans are in the Unofficial guide, the best maps are in the official, the best planner is in the Passporter. The others were not used and not needed and a big waste of money. 5 stars (EXCELLENT INFORMATION) - Book is #1 to me. So informative, a must have for first timers or people who have been time and time again. 4 stars (Very good book, but wait for the 2006 edition.) - This book has lots of useful information. The book is somewhat dated already. I realize that Disney changes frequently. If you are planning a trip for the end of 2005 or 2006 I would wait for the 2006 book to be released. ...

5 stars (Don't Be Foolish--Take Wiley's Book With You!) - If you don't like to waste time and don't want to miss any of your must see sights with your kids in tow, then get Wiley's superb guide. As a single-mom of three kids (teen & pre-teen), I wouldn't even think about setting foot on Disney property without first perusing Wiley's comprehensive, light-hearted guide. Make sure your trip's a blast-- after studying Wiley's handbook, toss it in an easy access spot in your park backpack because you'll find yourself referring to it throughout your visit! 5 stars (Saving mom's Sanity) - This is the best travel book I've ever read. Well, okay, De Tocqueville is a close second, but he didn't travel with kids, did he? Left them home with the wife. I'm sure she would have liked to have this guide to the mind-boggling vacation banquet that is Orlando. Whether your first visit or your twentieth, this practical guide will help you and your kids actually ENJOY your Disney vacation. Rather than a laundry list of whats available to do, Ms. Wiley's book offers inside information and strategies that help you focus on what you want out of your vacation. Better yet, Ms. Wiley avoids the dry technical style of many competitors.
