Adobe Photoshop CS2 Upgrade from Photoshop Any Version

5 stars (CS2 photoshop) - I have not have time to really work with it yet, but what I have worked with is awesome. 5 stars (It's worth the upgrade!) - I upgraded to the new Adobe Photoshop CS2 and found it was worth the money. The Bridge, takes the place of the old browser, is fantastic. The new vanishing point grid is cool. And if you're a photographer who uses RAW images this is the way to go. You are able to edit right in the Bridge without even opening Photoshop. I've only had my copy for a couple of weeks and already it's comfortable to use. The application gives you links to online tutorials. Very informative. 4 stars (Product good. Company bad.) - I'm an avid Photoshop user. I'm even a member of the NAPP. I use Adobe Photoshop every day in my work becuase it's great for everything from television produciton to web design to making your ex-girlfriend look like she has a huge nose. So I'm already a raving fan, and when CS2 was announced I was on it. Where I have a problem is with Adobe itself. First, when I recieved my upgrade I tried to install it but ran into a problem. It wouldn't accept my previous version, nor would it accept the serial number. A bit put out, I called Adobe. Here's where problem number two came in - they wouldn't even talk to me until I paid $40 for tech support! I'm a small business owner. If I treated my clients with this sort of contempt I'd be flipping burgers or selling blood to make a living. But what do you do when a faceless corporation initiates a policy designed to cut down their own costs for technical support by placing the burden on their own customers? The next slap in the face came when I finally got through to tech support. The reason my serial number wouldn't work was because I had been foolish enough to purchase the Adobe Creative Suite as a full package. 3 stars (Not _exactly_ true...) - Yes, Photoshop CS2 is a stellar product. But before you spend your money, visit the Adobe site and make sure the Upgrade will work with your version of Photoshop. Photoshop CS2 (Version 9) has been the best upgrade thus far. I am using the raw converter with great results. I just tried the Capture One Pro from Phase One, and did not like it as much for numerous reasons. Quicken 2005 for Mac Old Version

2 stars (Quicken for MAC disappoints) - Quicken 2005 works ok, but it has a couple of big problems that make it virtually useless for me. I've used Quicken on Windows for 6 years and have been able to download asset classes for each stock, bond, or mutual fund I own. I manage my investments using assset allocation - ie, by trakcing the % of my holdings large cap, small cap, international, bonds, and cash. Quicken 2005 for Mac doesn't have this function. Also, the whole program works in 9-point font only. Rows and rows of little tiny numbers and you can't change it. Not so great for the aging population of consumers. 2 stars (For those looking for something OTHER than Quicken) - I've been reading the Quicken reviews on Amazon and on other locations, and have been sufficiently scared away from purchasing an upgrade to work with Mac OS 10.4. After much searching, I found that there IS another money management system that works with the Mac, called Moneydance. I don't know how well it works, although the reviews I've read have averaged 4 stars. They offer a free trial version to download from their Web site (which is, it seems, the only place where it can be purchased); hopefully, I can determine whether it's going to work for me. So there is more than Quicken for the Mac. Move over, Intuit! 1 stars (WARNING! Will Not Work With E*Trade) - I suppose I should have checked with Intuit's list of supported financial institutions, but neither E*Trade Financial or E*Trade Bank are supported for this version of Quicken. I find it hard to believe that one of the world's largest all-Web financial institutions would leave Mac users out in the cold. What is more frustrating is that it worked fine for Windows -- it seems like a simple file format problem that could be easilty addressed by Intuit & E*Trade. So take this review with a grain of salt -- I cannot really review a product that I have been unable to use at all! ...

McAfee VirusScan 2005 Old Version

2 stars (Not the best) - I had the new Windows 2000 virus on my computer and this program could not detect it. I recommend PC Security Shield. It is much less expensive and comes with a firewall and anti spyware. A computer repairman said he does not recommend McAfee or Norton. 1 stars (McAfee-No stars...defective product...no support!!) - Installed McAfee VS 2005 9.0 on a perfectly good Dell 8200 Inspirion and it killed it dead. Don't buy this product...it didn't work on my PC where everything else worked fine. McAfee offers no warranty support and couldn't care less about customers. Stay away, very far away. 1 stars (Don't get screwed !!!) - I've been a McAfee fan for years, until last week. An antivirus auto-update didn't finish loading, which put my PC in a constant rebooting stage. After paying $$ to speak to someone at McAfee, and getting "scripted brainless runarounds", he finally told me it was my system vendor's problem and not theirs. I had to install a new hard drive, reinstall all my applications, and then restore my data from backups. I then decided to use a less popular, but well-reviewed antivirus product. It found a number of viruses in my restored data that McAfee had been missing for years. The new program only uses a fraction of the system RAM that McAfee did. McAfee's Security Center uses a lot of RAM, which is a waste, because its main purpose is to constantly annouce what McAfee software products you haven't bought yet. Don't buy McAfee, you can do a lot better !! ...

Paint Shop Photo Album 5 Deluxe Old Version

2 stars (Non-Existent technical support) - I replaced my computer and reinstalled PSPA5 deluxe which I'd bought from Amazon last year. I received several error messages during the installation but the program worked. I tried to install the downloaded upgrade but got an error message that my version was not valid. Corel recently bought Jasc so I went to their site and, rather than pay per incident for tech support, I described the problem and asked for help which was free and promised the next business day. After two weeks with no reply. I sent them another e-mail and waited another week with no reply. I then sent them a fax, on the belief that my ISP might be blocking their reply, and asked for a faxed response or snail mail help. NOTHING! Spending real money for PSPA 5 apparently buys you a decent program and being totally ignored by Jasc's new owners, Corel. I gave the program a low rating because I believe that prompt e-mail support is an essential part of the cost of the program. I uninstalled PSPA 5 and will buy nothing new from JASC/COREL. Picasa 2 from Google works well and is free. 3 stars (Decent but could be so much better with attention to details) - Some of the other reviewers have here have spelled out where the program works well so you can consider this the CONS review. 1. The biggest complaint is speed. Opening, editing and building thumbnails are all agonizingly slow. My pictures are stored on a server in my home so there is some understandable delay. But I also use Paint Shop Pro 6 (PSP6) which builds thumbnails faster that I can see them and opens and edits pictures far faster. My wife gets so frustrated with PSPA5s slow speed that she ends up opening and editing in PSP6 and then I loose all EXIF data. Last night added a new folder of about 45 images and it took at least 3 minutes to build all the thumbnails. 2. The next thing is opening folders. PSPA5 calls folders albums. Zone Labs ZoneAlarm Security Suite 2005 Old Version

3 stars (ZoneAlarm does the job, but it irritates...) - This software installed just fine. Our biggest beef is that we don't know what it's doing behind the scenes. The logs are pitifully thin. On a daily basis, our system "goes to sleep", and we're convinced it's due to ZA doing something behind the scenes. On a number of occasions, the Anti-Virus sweep has kicked off in the middle of a busy day, instead of running at its appointed time of 1:30 AM, when we're asleep. And many of the configuration screens where you can click boxes don't have enough information (for this novice, anyway) to make an informed decision about whether "to check or not to check". It seems to be less intrusive the Norton, but less intuitive, too. We just want to know what it is doing on our behalf, and the logs sure don't tell any stories. 1 stars (Program has bugs) - I have used the Zonlabs Firewall for several years. It works fine. I can not say the same for the Security Suite. The AntiSpam function does not update definitions and ZoneLabs Tech Support know they have a problem. They are working on it but no date for a fix. Do not buy this software until all the bugs are fixed. 1 stars (No record of Puchasing this Product Rating Zero thus far) - I do not have any recolection of purchasing this product, nor can I find it on my computer or in any of my hard non computer files. I have always ordered a hard disk back up of all purchases from Zone Alarm. There is no hard disk no Computer file. I am about to raise you Know what about this charge on my credit card. I will challenge it if I do not receive for what I am being charged. I will also ask My credit card Co. for a new number to prevent future charges from these folks. Microsoft Picture It- Premium 10 0 Old Version

5 stars (Better Than Expected) - I decided to go with Picture It 10 based on Consumer Reports on this and other photo editing software. So far it has proven better than I would have expected. Pretty easy to get into and use from scratch. And it has many features new to me and has been easy to learn. Glad I got it. 1 stars (Not near as good as the older versions) - I owned a couple older versions of this program. I bought this becuase my older software wasn't compatible with my new XP operating system. I was very disappointed when I found Microsoft has dropped many of the functions such as artistic edges and text enhancements such as shadows. I loved these features and found they recommended an "upgrade" to the Digital Image Suite. I thoguht I would do this, but I found you can't "upgrade." You have to buy the full version of Digital Image Suite for the full price. Ridiculus! I went ahead and purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements. Palo Alto Business Plan Pro 2005 Old Version

1 stars (Won't even install without manual hack) - So, I wanted some software help in writing my very first ever business plan. This one came highly recommended from reviews here, and elsewhere. So I bought a copy. Guess what? Won't install. Get "Error 1935". I click on 'Contact Us' from the installer. Tech Support? It's a toll call-- no 800 number. So I go to the web page. Track down an article on this problem. The Fix? About an hour's worth of manual labor on my part that *might* fix it-- Palo Alto Software would really like to hear from me if it works. Not likely. This is being returned today. 1 star for putting a product on the floor that won't install, and then offering a fix that requires 21 manual steps, including a diagnostic boot in Windows XP. I'll just write up my business plan in Word, thank you very much. 5 stars (Perfect for me...) - It has everything that I need, easy to understand it complicate and not complicate business plans (as I wish). ACT- 2005 Old Version

1 stars (ACT! 2005...Gone BAD!) - Act has been a constant software companion for me since the 2.0 version with miles and miles of my most sacred business data. I always upgraded the product as soon as the new versions came out and for the most part was always happy with the new releases. But when ACT! 2005 came out I heard some bad stories from inital reviews so I waited....then an update for 2005 came out to correct many of the issues the original release exhibited. So I finally decided to upgrade, convert my old data over and expected to have a pleasant experiece with the latest features and supposedly speed that SQL use was to provide. WRONG! After working with my data for awhile I noticed the database was SLOW, I was missing fields, notes, history, etc. but not for all of my contacts, it seems interspersed throughout my database. In using the layout designer tool it has hosed up my layouts so bad that some fields do not even show up in the Layout Designer but in the Contact View are way over to one side. This has cost me many hours of work trying to get my ACT! 2005 to function properly out of the box. Do not buy this product, it is a waste of your money and will waste your time, especially if you used previous versions of ACT! and will frustrate the heck out of Advanced ACT! user. I am going back to ACT! 6.0, atleast there is support for it for a few more years and give me time to look at other products in the market place. 4 stars (What is going on?) - I first began to work with ACT! in 1987 when the original founders of Contact Software showed up in my office and presented their ACT! software to me for testing. I still use Paint (the picture editing program that comes with Windows) a lot, but when it's time for some fun, it's time for Paint Shop Pro! (And it's VERY fun!) I have found it to be MUCH faster that Photoshop for EVERY photo manipulation I have ever tried. Much easier to learn than Photoshop. In my view, Photoshop is more of a tool for graphic designers, and not for photographers. Not to say you can't do graphic design with Paint Shop, I just don't use it for that. The only drawbacks I have found for digital photography work are: 1. Does not support 16 bit images (necessary for the highest commercial, advertising quality photo work) 2. Does not support A FEW select photography Plug-Ins that are available only for Photoshop. However, MOST plug ins will work with it, and the few that don't have comparable competitors that do work in Paint SHop. I love this program, and have now removed Photoshop from my computer for the sake of simplicity keeping only Paint Shop. Hopefully subsequent versions WILL support 16 bit images which is currently the only real drawback to this fine software product. ...

McAfee Internet Security 2005 7 0 Old Version

1 stars (BUYER BEWARE) - It is one of the worst programs ever. First it will occupy your entire computer's memory and make your computer very slow and most of the programs will stop working, I am talking about legitimate programs, like Microsoft, adobe, etc, and other well known companies. You don't need to download a virus; it is a virus by itself. You can never uninstall this product. After uninstalling it over and over it will keep on reappearing and running in the back ground doing the same dirty things as if it was never uninstalled. One more thing, your email client will never work in the presences of this software. The bottom line, I have to delete and format my hard drive and install every thing again, from scratch, which took me about 2 days. I already bought another internet security product but will never touch this company's products again...what a loss. 5 stars (I'm very pleased with the latest version! ) - I have used McAfee for 3 years. I had problems with the 2004 version of the McAfee Internet Suite & expected problems with the 2005. I had a hard time getting the 2004 version to install right.
