KidMail Safety

5 stars (Brilliant system for any parent) - I am glad to learn that Amazon started carrying KidMail, so I can give it as a holiday gift this year! Since getting KidMail a few months back, my kids (5 and 8) have begun to correspond ENTHUSIASTICALLY with grandparents, aunts, and uncles. They love the bells and whistles in the software -- especially sending those cute Quick Messages -- from their KidMail.net address. Meanwhile, I love how the KidMail system intercepts all the SPAM that flies around the internet... I know how to delete MY junk email but don't want my kids getting messages about increasing the size of certain body parts or those requests to hold 16 million from the Nigerian Treasury secretary, much less graphic (...)!! Whenever I check my email from home or anywhere else, I get a convenient message if relatives or strangers TRY to contact my kids BEFORE they ever see it. I get to "mark" who is highly trusted, not trusted, etc. I can say whether messages go through automatically or I get a copy -- just to keep a tab on their communication. (To me, this is just the same as me not letting children answer the door when I don't know who is knocking.) Highly recommended for any caring parent -- BRILLIANT! ...

Pantone ColorVision Spyder 2 PRO Studio PC - Mac

1 stars (I'm dissappointed and frustrated) - I have a laptop and a 2nd graphics monitor at home, and bought this to calibrate both. I adjust the sliders on my IBM T40, and the Spyder software doesn't "see" that I've done it, although it's conspicuous on the LCD screen. The second monitor? It won't even recognize it. Over $200 wasted. I'm a graphics professional, and if I'm missing something, the instructions are woefully inadequate! 5 stars (Setup alittle confusing - GREAT results) - Once you work your way through the setup the results are fantastic! 5 stars (A must have for any serious photographer) - A fantastic product, well known and proven. And at this price - Absolutely amazing!!! A must have for any serious photographer or anyone who wants to see the true color of what they are looking at on their screen. ...

SpyderSoft - Wi-Fi Defense

1 stars (Lies and then more lies) - The product did not work with Parkervision routers, and evidently does not with others as well. The response from OTO software is that they would come up with a solution in a "timely" manner. Three months later an email to them resulted in the reply that they were not going to be doing anything like that at all. A waste of money and time. 5 stars (Easy and it Works) - I've often bought programs similar to this one and they didn't work much and were a waste. Not this! It's easy, and works! Useful to see the current connections too. They gave the correct list of default passwords for the routers. It works with the Linksys Range Expander and you can Friend/Foe/Unknown that devise. I was worried it would not work w/ my network, spend hours on this, frustation, but none of that! A charm. Highly recommend! 5 stars (A 'must' for wireless networks) - As a tech guy who supports both home and small business users, I am always on the lookout for high-tech products that will either simplify my job or provide a better experience for my clients. Wi-Fi Defense does both. Before I started recommending Wi-Fi Defense for my clients' networks (I use it on my own, too), I would often get calls asking me why a new user or device couldn't get on the network. I would then have to try to walk my client through logging into the wireless router and making the appropriate, complex adjustments. Oftentimes this led to inadvertent changes or just mass confusion. Although this wasn't fun for me or my clients we suffered through it in an attempt to secure their wireless networks. With Wi-Fi Defense that confusion and those calls are a thing of the past because the software enables people who know nothing about computers to guard against unauthorized users on their network while making sure the users that want to have access can. Pantone ColorVision Spyder2 PC - Mac

1 stars (Does not work with Adobe Photoshop CS2) - I bought the Spyder 2 Plus believing the Colorvision software would also install on Adobe Photoshop CS2, but it doesn't. I called their support desk and they walked me through the simple procedures unsuccessffully. The person with whom I spoke said that the installation disc was probably corrupted, and I was then directed to their website to download the latest Colorvision Profiler shown, which is dated August 2002. It is a bit behind the times, apparently, to work with CS2, because it also didin't work at all. I don't know what the PlUS is all about, if its latest downloadable program is three years old, and it doesn't funcion with the latest Adobe Photoshop CS2. This important information is not posted anywhere. 1 stars (be careful!) - another reviewer mentioned receiving used equipment. I, too, received a used product - scuffs on the spyder and opened software box. unfortunately, my product was broken as well. the product may be good in theory, but then, it would need to work for me to comment on that particular facet. you may want to consider other alternatives. 2 stars (A Necessary Accessory?) - The Spyder 2 promises to calibrate your monitor so that the images on the screen will look more like what is being produced by your printer. It does this by building a profile for your monitor and running that profile when you start your computer. Installation and running of the of the software and the hardware that attaches to the monitor to build the profile was flawless. A little more information in the form of a printed manual or pdf file would have been nice, but the software does a good job of hand-holding and stepping one through the process. With the monitor calibration completed the images on the screen were indeed a little closer to what my printer, an HP 5550, was producing.
