Tropico 2- Pirate Cove Mac

4 stars (Argh - A good time indeed) - After playing Civilization III at an almost addictive rate, Tropico II - Pirate's Cove is a breath of fresh air. And maybe a bit more challenging. There's a tricky balance to keeping your captives resigned and your pirates happy. The graphics are fun and so is a Pirate's life. The learning curve is higher than Civ III (it was for me) - there are so many varibles with Tropico II - a reason why I like the game. The ships a player gets to build are cool. I have had the game unexpectedly quit on me a couple of times and the auto save feature can get annoying. But overall it's a purchase I'm happy with. 5 stars (A great new edition to the wonderful original Tropico) - If you liked Tropico, you should find this fun and entertaining as well. I think both Tropico/Tropico 2 are the best sim games on the market, much more fun that the usual city building games. At first it's a little difficult to grasp some of the concepts, and game play is a little different than the original. In this version you're concerned a lot more with events that actually happen off the island, where as in the original you didn't have any control over what happened when boats/planes left the island. Of course, you also didn't have to worry about ships sinking... The types of games are similar to the original Tropico, where you have scenarios or ones you design yourself. The map editor is a great thing that was not included with the original. You can play single games or there is also a "campaign" that starts you off easy and increases in difficulty (like the Warcraft campaign idea). Pirate Cove provides hours and hours of swashbuckling fun and has many new features. As far as gameplay goes, performance has improved since the original Tropico, it works great in OS X. If you like this game, I'd HIGHLY recommend the original Tropico also. ...

4 stars (can't dance) - although I've never won a dance this game is enjoyable. pirates, was the 1st pc game i had and yhis new verssion was like takin g a walk back it time. 5 stars (Great fun on the high seas!) - Sid Meier's Pirates! is a wonderful adventure game. You explore the ocean as a pirate captain and experience life on the high seas. You can capture ships, sack cities and towns, and search for buried treasure. The game has many levels of difficulty, so you can have fun right away, but you don't get bored when you have mastered the game. 4 stars (awesome game, sid does it again) - Right, if you've seen Pirates of the Caribbean, you'll see a lot of familiar stuff here. If you liked the movie(and not just because Depp and Bloom were in it), then this will be a treasure you won't miss STOP BLOWING HOLES IN MY SHIP!! The fighting, looting, dodging, and overall pirating gameplay has been programmed beautifully. The only flaw in the gameplay standpoint is that sailing against the wind(usually eastwards) is at a crawl. The types of upgrades and different ships allow some strategy involvement, but not enough to make your brain strain. Diplomacy is for suckers, you can basically piss off all four countries(there's the English, Spanish, Dutch, and French) and not get in too much trouble. It's when you pick on one country in particular(I sacked every Spanish Town I could find) that you get into trouble. WEDDINGS? I LOVE WEDDINGS!!! DRINKS ALL AROUND!! I felt that swooning governers daughters was fun. My only fault with it is that if news of your exploits travels so fast(instantly for the most part), why don't the ladies know that you've been trying to pass the moves on other women? If you get the girl good enough, you can marry her, but there is very little gameplay bonus for it, just the ability to say that you're married. Pirates of The Caribbean

1 stars (Pirates of the Carribean) - I found this game to be one of the most difficult, most poorly documented and least intuitive games I ever played. You start off the game with a crewmember to lead you through the start of the game. From there, you continue on your own. There is no primer on how to sail a ship. There is a minimal trainer on sword fighting but little feedback on how you're doing so you can modify your actions. After getting my ship sunk in a storm twice, getting sunk by random ships attacking me three times (including just showing up at my home port)and getting no feedback or instruction on how to survive those events or how to avoid them, I gave up and quit the game. 5 stars (This Game Is Like My Second Life) - If I had to choose a second life to live I would choose the life of one of the pirates in this game. Everything from the thrilling battle scenes to the great soundtrack is amazing. after i beat it once i just fooled around in the pirate world wich is just as fun as following a story line. the only difference is your creating your own story line. if u liked the movie, BUY THE GAME!!!! 4 stars (Very good Graphics, especially the water, and Ships) - I don't understand some of the reviewers. Wrecking Crew - The Really Bad News Griffith Park Pirates

5 stars (Junkies, wino's, pimps and whores.... and baseball) - I've never done hard jail time, and I've also never slept with a stripper, but this book opened a window into a life many of us have chosen to either forget or never look through. Under the Black Flag- The Romance and the Reality of Life among the Pirates

5 stars (Fascinating Overview on the Life & Times of Pirates of Old ) - Most people think of pirates as romantic anti-heroes. I sure do, having been fascinated by pirates since I was a little girl. In the nonfiction book UNDER THE BLACK FLAG, author David Cordingly debunks the pirate myth to tell us what real 17th and 18th century pirates were like: uneducated, drunken seamen who were very young and very violent. Writing in a clear, easy-to-read style, Cordingly explores pirate life (mostly within the Caribbean), from historical raids to shipwrecks, pirate loot, and executions. There's even a chapter about female pirates. I found this entire book fascinating, and read it as quickly as I would read a fiction novel. Moreover, I often stopped to read aloud certain passages to family members, just because the passages were so interesting and full of historical significance. For instance, I had no idea that pirates sacked Panama or that an earthquake completely destroyed Port Royal in Jamaica, a big-time pirate hang-out. The most popular passages, however, were the descriptions of exceptionally nasty (yet curiously inventive) means of torture carried out by sadistic pirate captains on their poor victims. You have to read it to believe it! Anyway, UNDER THE BLACK FLAG is quite an eye-opening experience. It's history and adventure and fascinating biographies all rolled into one. Highly recommended! 4 stars (very interesting) - Good book, would buy it as a gift for a young person or a casual reader. Not to academic, but not to kiddie either.
