Sams Teach Yourself HTML and XHTML in 24 Hours

5 stars (Great book.) - I have been using a canned program to manage my company's web site, but I wasn't always able to do fine tune the pages the way I wished. So I decided to teach myself HTML. Working through this book, I was able to learn step by step how to design pages and manipulate the images and text. The book is very clear and concise and the exercises the author gives at the end of every chapter are extremely useful. 4 stars (Up-To-Date Now - Thank you.) - Having been out of web Development for a couple years, I needed confidence that my basic understanding was up to speed. This book HTML and XHTML in 24 hours, brought me up to date rather quickly. It provided the foundation that I needed both to build some basic web application prototypes, and to be able to begin reading more specialized books on Web Development. Specifically books on CSS. 5 stars (Awesome book!) - Best computer related book that I have ever read. I was somewhat familiar with HTML concepts, but never created my own web page. The lessons are organized well and are so easy to follow! They even go over applets, Active X, and JavaScript. Awesome, awesome book. ...

1 stars (Not Worth Upgrading For) - Very disappointing release! I have been a GoLive user for going on two years now and after a long waiting period, CS2 is finally upon us. Unfortunately, CS2 did not herald the bug fixes and core improvements so many GoLive users have been waiting for. The most glaring problem is that GoLive CS2 still does not have a history feature. Even ridiculously simple functions like previewing your in-development pages make it impossible to revert to a previous state and undo any mistakes. Perform a find/replace and again, once you commit to the replace you cannot undo the change. What is the point of previewing your webpage if you can't go back and correct a mistake? It is this kind of blatant oversight that damns GoLive to being a subpar program that just doesn't feel as intuitive or polished as other Adobe products. There have been a number of small improvements (such as an advanced CSS library) but those changes cannot make you overlook the fact that at its core, GoLive CS2 is a buggy and fundamentally broken product that fails to deliver on every level. Another poor showing. When will Adobe get this right? Not worth the money as a stand alone product and certainly not worth upgrading from CS. ...
