Lineage 2- The Chaotic Chronicle Subscription Card

4 stars (Mixed feelings about this game) - I have to say that Lineage II is very beautiful and really satisfied the roll playing aspect of what I was looking for. There are really cool looking creatures and a stunning world to explore. That said, I have to say that the downside to the game would be the people who play it. You really begin to question the inherent evil in the players themselves. The newbie towns are eerily empty but if you do see any other players you had better run fast. I actually went up to a few people and tried to start a conversation. Big mistake. Player killers run rampant in this game and unless controls are implemented to curb this I find it pointless to waste time getting killed over and over losing both xp and equipment. I have been playing WOW for some time now and think that Blizzard, with all the bugs they have to work out still, got it right. One last complaint would be the ease of movement of the characters. They seem stiff and become easily stumped in certain areas of the game. I would say that if you are tolerant of immature teenagers who get off on making you miserable, this game could be right for you. Its beautiful and exciting but the players also make it miserable and, after all, I did buy this to have fun. 4 stars (Is it worth the time and money?) - Im looking at the monthly online billing and it cost 14.95...this is only if you do it each month. That card is for 60days which is two months. The price after shipping is 32.97 ...unless you go super saver but then you dont get the card for 2weeks or more. But this will only save you .91, not even a dollar, whats the point of these cards. Though i do have to say that amazon is the only one that has put it at a lowered price so kudos to them, because you actually can save that 91cents if you wanted. 2 stars (Stunning graphics, brutal grind, and a strange take on PvP) - All the other reviewers have allready touched on L2's graphics, so there's little left to say in that departme...

City of Heroes Subscription Card

4 stars (60 days not 20) - ... just in case anyone else is confused. If you click on the image, it enlarges and you can read -- this is a 60 day play card for $30. Serious money, but not as much as the next review suggests. This game is loads of fun. There is so much freedom in how you design your hero, you can really make any sort of character you can imagine. You are also allowed to charge your character's clothing later in the game if you want to change your mind about the color of his spandex. In just a couple of weeks, I am already level 14 and can fly, yay. My only problem with it is that it seems that as you get to be a higher level, it could get tedious. This is my first mmorpg besides a little Diablo 2, and I would say its very easy and very addictive. 5 stars (what is this) - The game looks great but what is this thing do i have to pay to play im not paying $30.00 on a 20 day play card just to play i barrly have enough time to play my xbox games as it is NCplay should get their act together. 5 stars (Great fun, lots of action) - I bought this game a week or so ago, and I have barely done anything but play it during my waking hours. I've played a couple of other MMORPGs, and I really like how City of Heroes solves the player-killers problem--there is no player killing allowed! There's a section on the publisher's Web site for an upcoming City of Villians game which claims that it will support consentual player v. player combat against heroes. Sounds like a winner to me; fight others if you want, but the game doesn't depend on it, and you don't have to if you don't want to. Instead, for now, you team up with other players to fight computer-generated evil. And there's lots of it. I've put over 40 hours into the game, and I have yet to get to a spot where there's nothing left to do, and given that I see lots of players with a lot more experience that me still playing (and I haven't even seen over half the places there are to go), I suspect that ...

City of Heroes

2 stars (Good overall.) - I have enjoyed playing this game. I only give it three stars due to the constant changing of the superhero's powers. As your superhero increases in level, you will choose powers and enhance those powers to your liking. As soon as you design your superhero the way you like, you log on one day and the game has a new version with changes to some of your powers. I think it's also safe to say that the changes that I have seen so far have weakened most powers. This may not seem like an issue to some of you but it is very frustrating to spend 4-5 hours a week for a few months playing this game just to have your favorite powers drastically changed. I actually cancelled my account over the last version. My two superheroes powers were so drastically changed that it was not fun to play them anymore. Beware!! If you like stability, do not buy this game!!! 1 stars (never got to play it) - I saw the reviews here and was so excited to get the game. I read the instruction book a kazillion times and watched every trailer on the coh website. Well, I happen to live in a town where the only internet available is dialup. However, i was able to play halo pc despite this problem so i didn't think this would matter. Here it comes. I went to execute the game and it wouldn't let me because "you have to run the updater first" okay clickity clich-gasp! 1375 hours was the approximated download time and it never dropped and if i disconnected it started over. Screw that! I sold the game and bought a psp. 3 stars (Good for Awhile) - City of Heroes made for an enjoyable summer of 2004 for me. By the Fall of 2004, though, it was too much to stomach. Before I address the bad, I will evaluate the good. There are two huge plusses that CoH has: 1) An incredible variety of costume creation possibilities. Multitudes of colors, design schemes for different body areas such as shoulders, boots, hands, pants, chest, emblems, and helmets. The downside is that not a...

City of Heroes Collector-s DVD Edition

5 stars (Awesome Game!!!) - This game has all the things to make your dreams of becoming a superhero come true. It also has a great replay value and keeps you playing for many hours. It is great for first timers to the MMO genre. 4 stars (City Of Heroes rocks) - Having owned City Of Heroes since it was released, a hard drive crash and a lost CD sent me hunting for a replacement. The DVD is my default choice when available, and the extra content made it even better. NC Soft keeps adding more and more material to the game with each publish and the bonuses they throw at you during certain holidays and such really make it more enjoyable. I play World of Warcraft and Guild Wars, but I refuse to give up my flying super heroes! Creating characters is almost as much fun as playing them! 1 stars (FORGET IT!) - This seems like a great game and all but I'm NOT going to pay a monthly bill just to play a game, no matter how good it is!I was just thinking about buying this game too.:( ...

Guild Wars

4 stars (At least get out of Ascalon before writing a review) - Please do. I don't want to hear about how the post-apocalyptic landscape made you angry, because it's not there for long. In fact, most of the game is covered by the snowy shiverpeaks, the verdant Kryta, The vibrant Maguma and the kind of strange crystal desert. And also don't complain about the instanced areas. Do you want people asking you "How I mine for fish?" in the middle of an important quest. And no in game economy, have you been to a city? Boring PVP, have you played a guild vs guild or a 8 team Hall of Heroes? The 8 skills and level 20 thing is to keep people from becoming superpowerful and killing everyone really easy. 5 stars (An Excellent MMORPG) - In the past, I used to be a hardcore MMORPGer (WoW, RuneScape, you name it). Of course, subscriptions can cripple the enjoyment and acquiring of these games. Perhaps that's one of the main ways Guild Wars weeded in players - no monthly fee. The graphics are quite spectacular - what's more spectacular is how it can run with even the worst video cards. I use a GeForce 5500FX, which isn't too bad. However, some games like BF2 I can run on low-medium settings. --- I don't want to take up much time here, so let me just tie up loose ends: --- Pros: Excellent Musical Track/Sounds/Graphics Plenty Of Lore No "Perfect" Build, so you can experiment with stats and abilities all the time Guilds/parties/constant updates allow for replayability No monthly fees Cons: More fighting/crafting/quests, less of all those random non-combat abilities, such as fishing, mining, etc --- As you can see, Guild Wars ' pros outnumber the cons in my eyes. So, whether you're a hardcore MMORPGer or getting the feel of MMORPGs, Guild Wars is perfect for everyone. 3 stars (Free is what you pay for.) - Mind you this is my mom's account. When I first saw this game on a store shelf I had to look again. It was that big sign that says "FREE online play". Yes this is an...

City of Villains Collector-s Edition DVD

1 stars (Too many bugs to enjoy) - I like the idea of playing a villian and playing with better graphics that WOW has too offer. But the main and only two problems are the constant disconnects and half the video screen which is barbled (or tearing) on my laptop. Now I have two systems one is an alienware with a nvidia card and the laptop a dell xps with a ati mobility. I made sure everything is upgraded and tweak too work with most games. But there is nothing I can do if COV is having compatibilty issues with the ati mobility card as stated in their website (still being worked on). The tech support technician states that the problem is with my system and and ISP. I play other online games and I will definitly know if there is a problem with my ISP (not) so I decided it is best to cancel my subscription since I cannot enjoy the game and have next to nil on getting any help from tech support. I do not know what high end system is needed or what else must be tweaked. All I can say COV is a nice concept and nice graphics but I guess it all depends on what high end PC system you are using. I wish you better luck in enjoying the game. 5 stars (It's good to be bad!) - If you enjoyed City of Heros you will enjoy City of Villains. New Achetypes and powers, new costumes and new areas to explore all add to the flavor of being a bad guy. Many of the powers are duplicates of the hero's powers, but that shouldn't really be a surprise, what is nice is they are combined in different ways requiring different styles of play to achieve your goals. There are subtle but important differences to playing a villain which bring hours of fun. City of Heros also introduces bases which can be built by the players once they have gained enough influance. Putting your very own torture chamber into the dungeon is hard to beat. Another good point for this game, you only have to pay for one subscription to play City of Heros or City of Villains. So what are you waiting for, release your in...

City of Villains

4 stars (NCSoft Customer Support Lacking) - City of Villains over-all is a fun game. The new Arch-types (classes) are fun to experiment with. The story-lines are a little more intriguing than in City of Heroes, but only because the Villain stories are more prone to double-cross. And the optional Hero vs Villain PvP is quite a rush, if you're into that kind of thing. An important issue to me is Customer Support, and NCSoft (who supports CoV and CoH, as well as Lineage and Guild Wars) doesn't seem too concerned. When you submit a petition in-game, you recieve an email asking for more information - not too handy while you're still playing the game. Several hours after you respond to the email (usually 2-3, but in my case yesterday it was 5!, and one I submitted in the first few days of release was 18!) you'll either get a GM in-game offer to assist you, or an email explaining that the game is functioning as intended. Now, imagine if you will, reading a comic book. All of the action takes place in the first five pages. The next fifty pages is filled with the Hero (or Villain) doing absolutely nothing but searching for a nearly invisible item - no dialogue, no action, no nothing. Pretty dull, wouldn't you say? That is apparently how the game is "functioning as intended". If you don't mind paying a subscription rate for that kind of service, then CoV is a pretty good game. Otherwise, you may want to look into something else. 3 stars (CoH/CoV is dead) - ...WoW still reigns supreme. Myself, along with thousands of others have deserted CoH as soon as WoW came out. This game is dead and not coming back. Missions are repetitive, end game content sucks, grinding to lvl 50 is agonizing, the new debt still makes grinding bad, yadayada. Oh yea, I am also having video problems now since the new update came out. Another player was having the same problem and we both have high end computers. This game blew me away at release. A few months later WoW comes out an...
