5 stars (The Return of Orthodox Catholicism) - This is an exciting, well written book, something that I was not expecting at all. I began watching and contributing to EWTN during a difficult period of my life and Mother Angelica's network is a blessing to all, but especially those who are going through hard times. This book is a terrific read about how it all came about and it spends a lot of time on her battles with certain members of the American Church hierarchy - many of whom were exposed in the 2002 sex scandals for their less-than-Catholic actions and unconscionable lack of leadership. Mother Angelica is the primary figure in the ongoing renaissance of orthodox Catholicism among the laity and, equally important, in the seminaries. Mother Angelica and EWTN are providing wonderful tools for taking back our Church from what Raymond Arroyo (charitably) calls the "progressives" in the USCCB and their bureaucracies. What a wonderful book! It makes me ready to join the fight! 5 stars (BUY THIS BOOK) - This is one of the most exciting, well written biographies to come out in a very long time. Its about an underprivileged woman who became a cloistered nun and changed the world. Mother Angelica is a woman who somehow balanced real orthodoxy with brilliant management vision and skill without what seems any worldly qualifications whatsoever. Moreover, here's is a story of overcoming great suffering -- both physical and emotional -- and allowing God to transform her life without ever looking back or counting the cost. (It's worth noting too this is no saccharine sweet nun's story, to be sure!) This wonderful biography really shows us she is "The Patron Saint of CEOs" -- and patron of anyone else who by God's grace, must overcome a legion of what seem like insurmountable problems. 2 stars (Disappointed) - My opinion is the food plan will work but this book is not laid out well. I found myself going back and forth trying to locate the info I needed. The book refers to info in previous written books which I do not own. This info should be included in this book! The first 4 chapters tend to cover the science aspect of the diet...For me a simple statement would do since I don't have any interest in the rest or even understand most of it to be simply honest. Moving ahead...I did begin the cleanse process, only using 1 of the supplements suggested...(taking herbal la'xs 3 'xs daily is not healthy in my opinion so I chose not to use that portion of the cleanse) I did lose 6.5# my first week. Even though I have had success with the cleanse part of the diet, I am disappointed in the book as a whole. 4 stars (GOOD INFORMATION FOR DETOXING AND FOR CHOOSING WATER) - I LIKED THIS BOOK, I HAVE BEEN STUDYING HEALTH AND NUTRITION FOR OVER 20 YEARS. THIS BOOK REALLY HELPS YOU TO CHOOSE A GOOD PH BALANCED WATER. AS A RESULT OF THE INFORMATION I FOUND A WATER THAT IS REALLY BETTER THAN THE REST. TRINITY WATER IS REALLY BETTER THAN ALOT OF THE WATERS I HAVE USED. EVERY BOOK I READ THAT GIVES ME SOME KIND OF BENEFICIAL INFORMATION IS USEFUL. THIS WAS ONE OF THOSE BOOKS. It changed mine, and continues to do so. 5 stars (A Course in Miracles) - A great book that goes into great depth of explanation about life and the biblical meanings in life. 5 stars (No Matter What Your Path This Book Can Only Bring You Inner Peace ) - This is a three volume edition that comprises of the Text, Workbook for Students and Manual for Teachers. I must say that the teachings and messages are beyond profound, where there is so much truth that leads to inner peace. There might be a few lines that seem different, and it is great to question them and then read further to gain a deeper understanding. This book goes beyond religion. It is all of our divine birthright to our connection to God, Holy Spirit, where there is unfailing guidance at every moment of life. This book teaches this to you. It teaches the true meaning of forgiveness, how when we see each other as extensions of our self, we see the oneness we all share, and our divinity as equal spiritual beings at the same time. 5 stars (best sports book i ever read) - what a great book. Bob Hurley is not a perfect human being but the good he does is incredible. By far the best and most moving sports book I ever read. 5 stars (Can't Wait for the Movie) - As a high school baseball and basketball coach, this book is a must read. I could't put the book down. It is an easy read which gives those in suburbia a glimpse of America not often seen. Bob Hurley, the man,the father, the husband, the coach is a true American hero. Coaches, parents, administrators, and athletes can learn much from this well told story. I can't wait to see the movie! 4 stars (Great Story - Cumbersome Writing) - Anyone who's read John Feinstein's "A Season on the Brink" will find this story very familiar. Just as Feinstein chronicled a year with Bob Knight at Indiana, Adrian Wojnarowski spent a year with the basketball team of St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, NJ. The result is a very compelling story of a small band of sincere and dedicated educators using basketball to teach character and life lessons to a group of kids from the tough streets of Jersey City. For many of these young men, Coach Bob Hurley is the only authority figure they know and his tough style provides them with a standard to reach for on the court, perhaps the only time in their lives they've been pushed out of their comfort zones. Mixed in with these products of the inner city is Sean McCurdy from suburban Connecticut whose mother moves him to Jersey City in the belief that Hurley can attract the Division I college scholarship that she seems to think is Sean's birthright. Cindy McCurdy is every youth coach's nightmare, the quintessential little league parent.
