5 stars (Wonderful Resource) - I'd been having difficulty meditating and feel God directed me to this resource. It is most helpful and has been an inspiration to me. I feel it would be a fine tool for women's Bible study groups also or for book review groups. While directed at women, men may also find it insightful. It is written with a light hand but has so much depth. I plan to reread it often. 5 stars (Excellent Book) - I have read this book a few times and have given it to other woman in our church as well. This book is sound and extremely encouraging as most books adress the "Mary" aspect of life only, whereas Joanna address the "Martha" in all of us who are wives, mothers and just woman in general, wanting to know our Lord more intimately, yet we have so much to do. I read both "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World" and "A woman after God's own heart" - by Elizabeth George at the same time. What a blessing to have such gifted sisters in Christ who God can use to encourage and challenge us all. Worth reading again and again. 4 stars (I Needed This Book) - This book was really helpful to me in making me realize that I really do need to "slow down" and listen for God's presence more. I could not have read this book at a more perfect time as i was invited to be a part of a prayer group and needed to have encouragment to slow down a little more. Which, as an evangelical liberal is probably the area of growth that i need the most as a daughter of God. My only real critique of the book was that some of the illustrations seemed to be more geared toward middle aged women as I think this sort of book should be geared toward ALL christians. ...

Living Religions 5th Edition

3 stars (A good book; except...) - There is a rich amount of knowledge; I will keep this in my library. It is baptized in feminist views. That would be okay except it isn't supposed to be a platform for feminists; it is suppose to show the richness of the various religions. It is overly concerned with defending or proving the importance of women; this often takes up to much space pushing out writing that would be more informative of the actual heart of the religion (which would be better then the dispute over women which is such a small fraction of what religion is about. I would be just as unnerved if it focused on how important men where to religions.... it seems to miss the point; the point being the religion itself be it from/to men or women.) There is to much of it that comes across as feminist propaganda (can you be truly sympathetic to a religion if you take modern feminist propaganda to say Islam or past Christian monasteries where women were not allowed or where at least kept separate from the males?) The book is corrupted by (as written on the back of the book)"Increased coverage of the role of women in each tradition." What a waste of space! I could have been learning more about the religions. Your expecting a loving look into religion on the religions own terms... then why, I ask, is their a reading included dedicated to the idea of God as a female within the Christian Religion? It might as well be including excerpts from the writings of Martin Luther as representative of Catholicism; they are clearly not apart of the Religion except as fringes that are better understood as protesting what is taught in the religion itself. 4 stars (Recommended for religion survey courses) - This textbook not only looks at the history of different religions, but it also shows you the contemporary version/manifestation of each religion. 4 stars (Journeying With MaryJane) - This is more than a book, which is why the title is composed of Idea,Cook and Life. It's hefty, filled with evocative, inspiring photographs, good recipes, and the encouraging story of MaryJane Butters' journey to her life today in Idaho. Along the way: working as a park ranger, farming organically, surviving as a single Mom, and establishing today's business. I had ordered this book as a 55th birthday gift for a friend, but will need to order another copy for her (this one is now "used": coffee rings and recipe notes...try hers for watermelon salsa.) And even though it's big, you CAN read it in bed! 5 stars (Incredible!!!!!!!!!) - This is not only a great resource...but it is inspiring...beautifully illustrated...took me on a journey of what is really important in life..to simplify...experience and create. 5 stars (Great book!) - I love this book! It was a great experience and served as a great foundation for my education in the sport management field. The book touched upon every aspect in which a sport management professional in one capacity or another may be inclined to deal with. Principles and Practices of Sport Management by Lisa Pike Masteralexis was easy to read and comprehend. At the same time, the book was informative and challenges the reader to constantly keep an open mind to the different areas of sport management. Season of Life- A Football Star- a Boy- a Journey to Manhood

5 stars (Caught-up in the story) - Jeffrey Marx began to contact "old" Baltimore Colts' players after "saying" goodbye to fabled Memorial Stadium just before its demolition in 2001. One of those players was Joe Ehrmann, the All-Pro leader of the Colts' "Sack Pack" in the 70's. Ehrmann had nicknamed him, Brillo, when Marx was a Colts' ballboy. At that time, Ehrmann was an example of a the stereo-typical fun-loving, hard partying and substance abusing athlete that "graces" the news from time to time. When Marx traced down this former Colt, he found that much had changed. After thirteen years of professional football, Ehrmann's "calling" had finally found him. He had since founded and led a wholistic ministry in Baltimore's inner city for 20 years and was volunteering as a coach at Baltimore's Gilman School. He had founded "Building Men for Others" and was also serving on the staff of a Baltimore area church. As Marx traces Joe's journey and the journey of the Gilman School's 2001 season, he is drawn into his own "journey to manhood." His "side-by-side" story-telling draws in the reader as well. A very good read and must reading for every father, for every father's son and for every woman who wants to better relate to the men in her life. 5 stars (Should be required reading for coaches) - I bought this book as I was told it was an inspiration. It truly is, and I've passed it along to many people, most importantly anyone who works with kids. With such an emphasis on "winning at all costs" these days, this puts being on a "team" into perspective. I then thought it would make a great gift for my daughter's coaches. It is one of the best books I've read, and think it should be required reading for all coaches!!!
