Gamecube - Lego Star Wars

4 stars (A good GameCube port of a surprisingly-fun game) - This GameCube version of Lego Star Wars was released a full six months after the PlayStation 2 and Xbox versions of the game, an odd decision considering the frequently-assumed target audiences of the different consoles. Even so, this delayed port is nevertheless a very solid one, and gamers who have Cubes can pick this one up knowing it looks and plays just as well on this console as it does on the others. Lego Star Wars is a game that is forgiving enough that children will enjoy it (i.e. a character who gets "killed" is simply resurrected nearby). At the same time, also has a few challenges that will give adults a share of fun. The game features a VERY large number of unlockables and extras that can only be completed by collecting certain items and collecting large enough numbers of the game's currency (known as bits). Some of the levels are not terribly difficult to beat - but can be challenging to beat with sufficient numbers of bits, some of which are lost when a character dies. Of note, Lego Star Wars also has an easy-to-use cooperative feature, which is a great deal of fun regardless of the age of the people you are playing with. The presentation of this game is outstanding. The graphics are beautiful and glossy and portray the "Lego" and the "Star Wars" both wonderfully. The cutscenes are funny and capture well the storyline of the first three episodes even though there is no voicework to speak of. John Williams soundtrack is here and the game even has the appropriate tracks for each level. Hearing that trademark "Darth Maul" anthem during the duel with the Sith is a real treat. There are only a few drawbacks to the game. One, it's a bit on the short side - an adult could probably plow through the entire campaign in 6-8 hours. The Great Divorce

3 stars ( The Great Divorce ) - As C.S. Lewis' books go I think that this is not his best book by far. I would recommend reading some of his other works before this because if I had not of known of his amazing writing I would have forever considered him a terrible writer after reading this book. 5 stars (Truly Inspired!) - In this brilliant work of fiction, C.S. Lewis brings amazing clarity and light to universal truths that we can all identify with, but few of us ever fully grasp. I have gained a whole new perspective on a question that has, thus far, plagued my Christian walk: "Why is it that something that is so clear and painfully obvious to a Christian, is so extremely difficult to convince to an unbeliever?". As plainly as Truth stares us in the face, it's difficult to comprehend why others so easilly overlook it, while vituperating us "brain-washed" Christians. After reading this book, I am finally beginning to better understand the paradox. The truth is that, on some level, everyone sees the Truth. Many are just unwilling to let go of what they have come to embrace in this world. The meaning they have been able to build for themselves, and control on their terms, has become more presious to them than the Truth, and more desirable than true Joy. If their chosen lives were taken away from them, they would be miserable with Truth. One line from the story sums it all up. It comes directly after the most oft quoted phrase from the book ("...Thy will be done."): "All that are in Hell, choose it. Without that self-choice there could be no Hell.". This is NOT to say that Evangelism should stop. By no means! We just need to learn when it's time to stop and move on to another. We can't make the choice for them. We are called to sow. Only God can tend the soil... OUTSTANDING book!!! 5 stars (I love this book so much I keep giving it away.) - This is one of my favorite books of all time. The Chronicles of Narnia

1 stars (Don't be so silly) - This book is silly. Fancy positing the idea that a lion rules the land. It's almost as silly as this book I read the other day about a man who does magic tricks and then people get suspicious of him so they kill him but then he comes back as a zombie, a nice zombie, he doesn't eat brains or anything and then he flies off home. The lion in this story has been compared to him I believe... 5 stars (Good clean fun!) - I enjoyed the stories again after 30 years between the first read. 4 stars (Fantasy for Children at it's best!) - I wanted to purchase the Chronicles not because of the upcoming film series (Come On, you know Disney will #$@? it up)...but to read to my child. Reading them again to him has shown me just how deceptively complex the stories are; and what is amazing is how moral and civil lessons, in true Christian sense, are taught and exemplified by the children's adventures: Most importantly is the ideal of forgiveness; which is the core of Christianity but which seems to have been forgotten, particularly by the right-wing lunatics who I am appalled by hearing themselves called Christians...children of Mammon, perhaps, but Christians? Riiiight. Anyway, this edition is wonderful, I gave it four out of five stars for one flaw, which is the type-setting. It seems alot of the page-breaks were left in, resulting in one sentence being cut almost half a page early, and continued below it, as well as a few words which are still hyphenated but shouldn't be as they are in the midst of a line, and not the end of the margins. Nonetheless, the binding is great, sturdy and heavy, which has not been the case with all my hard-bound books of late. This is definately a volume I would recommend, and excellent to keep for the grandchildren and so forth, on your best shelf. It is nice that it contains all of the original art, and the stories are placed in the order the author intended. Fantastic. ...

Lego Star Wars DVD Mac

1 stars (returning it) - This game is very machine specific..I ordered it for my grandson's birthday and have to return it because the Mac at his house is not the right one for this game. A great disappointment. The technology exists to make things more diverse & be compatible with many computers...this game isn't. 1 stars (Lego Star Wars for Mac by aspry) - Does not work on a normal G4 iMac. Must have a G4 PowerMac or better. Recommended is a G5!!! 4 stars (A good distraction) - Okay, so I would've given this game three and a half stars, but I had to bump it up to four... oh well ;-) Anywho, I would say most of all that this game is a good distraction. Huge Star Wars fans (of which I am a party to) will really enjoy the details and references and the unlockables in this game - which will allow you to finally get to a point where you can kill Jar Jar Binks in the fighting mode (snicker, snicker...). The game play is simple and easy, yet there are definite problems with some of the controls and camera angles, which are OFTEN jerky and awkward, causing repeated falls down cliffs and blaster shots to the plastic behind, dropping down your cutesy little life hearts to zero before you can even turn to face your stubby attacker. Altogether, the cute little figures and neat-o weapons and unlockables (including droids! oh, dozens and dozens of useless droids...) fail to really make up for the crappy gameplay. I would say, if you're a Star Wars fan, shell out the forty and pick it up for a nice 3-5 hour distraction. If not - well, then, don't. ...

5 stars (Finally, a basic building guide that encompases all builders) - As a long-time Lego builder I was very happy to see that something new was coming onto the scene in regards to a holistic approach to building. This guide takes even the most amateur builders, and manages to bring them through the basic steps and building techniques to a point where they are sure to become advance Lego creators. With detailed images that display parts, concepts, and myriad examples, this guide leaves nothing to the imagination, and will allow builders of all stripes to not only improve, but be creative in areas that may have been foriegn to them before the Unnofficial Lego Builders Guide. As a long-time Lego modeler I am impressed with the content, quality, and dynamics of this guide, and know it will become a classic of the Lego environment within a short period of time. GBA Lego Star Wars

3 stars (good game but flawed) - This game is very fun but you stay in the same ship for the whole game. 5 stars (My 6yr finally has an age apropriate action game he loves!!!!!!) - This has been a relief, he was playing other SW games and the were so realistic it was boring! Now he has color and sound that is fun, he learns about collecting and saving points and trading them in for things he needs to move up in the game. XB Lego Star Wars

4 stars (Don't miss out!!!) - Put it this way, I hate Legos but I love this game. I actually have been playing all the other star wars games trying to find a "regular" game that I like but I think I'm gonna have to go with the Legos (its the best star wars game) 4 stars (Nicely done!) - I'm a fan of parodies, from Weird Al, to Thumb Wars. This has to be the best one I've seen in a while. The sequences between playable levels are really funny & well done, using the original music & sound effects from John WIlliams & Lucasfilm. I'm also a fan of all the Star Wars games, which I've began plaing on the old arcade game which was a simple vector-lines based game, to the Nintendo, SNintendo, Nintendo64, and XBOX systems. The playability is very good, especially considering the simple controls. It's nice to be able to have 2 player co-op as well. WELL DONE! 5 stars (X Box Lego Star Wars) - I bought this game for my 9 yr old and 6 yr old. They love it and have a great time re-enacting the different movies through the lego action figures of the game. My 6 yr old has a little bit of a hard time playing but with his brother's help he's getting it. I like this game because 2 people can play at once together, this in my household elliminates fighting over the controllers and taking turns. ...

PS2 Lego Star Wars

1 stars (the game is fun, but the gamecube version is better...) - lego star wars is a pleasant surprise. don't be turned off by the kiddie lego graphics, because it's a great and entertaining game. the only reason i've given this a poor rating is because the gamecube version is a prettier and much better playing game than this one (and it's cheaper!). 4 stars (Mixed at first, but good) - I bought this game for my son and try to play it. To my dismay I found out that it was on the blue CD which didn't play on my PS2. So I attempted to return it to the store that I bought it from with no luck. In a desperate attempt to not feel like I wasted $40, I decided to buy a "Fellowes DVD lens cleaner." It's a DVD that has little brushes on it. But I tried it and it cleaned my PS2 and now I can play the game with my son. I know a lot of people have had this problem, so I hope this will help them also. The game play is pretty cool so far... I'm still getting over the initial agrivation. But I can't take that out on the game its self, It's a great game for all ages. 5 stars (Excellent and Fun for all ages!) - It is an awesome game. My child and husband loved it. It is very entertaining with a lot of things to do and to look for. Is not difficult and is very fun to play. The graphics and the scenes are very cool.
