The Silent War- Ministering to Those Trapped in Deception of Pornography

5 stars (Helping Those Trapped in Pornography!!) - Henry Rogers doesn't pull any punches, here, in his expose of this tawdry topic, but all too common problem we have in our society. The chapters of his book include many different fronts, and cover the personal and private lives of those who have been harmed by pornography. He has included his own story, but there are some really good chapters, such as Chapter 4- She Has a Name, whereupon he cites Elis, Stefani, Amy, Kristen, and Julie, and he states that "their reason for existence is to satisfy lust, and that their names are insignificant." A truly troubling thought. Then there is Chapter 7 - VCR - Very Corrupt Rendevouz, and he states that due to the onset of this kind of technology in 98% of the homes, television permits you to be entertained in your living room by people you would not have in your home. And there is the other point that men are prone to sexual fantasy and the TV feeds their appetites quite well. Chapter 6 is another great chapter-Satan's Dynamic Duo: Hugh and Larry, and the chapter essentially focuses on Larry Flynt and Hugh Hefner. Hefner's father was apparently a descendant of William Bradford, the Pilgrim, and Flynt's parents raised him as a staunch Methodist, and while he went to college, he bought into Kinsey's teachings, hook, line, and sinker. Larry Flynt apparently met Jimmy Carter's sister, Ruth Carter Stapleton in 1977, and when he claimed to have seen the Apostle Paul on the "Hustler" jet in November, 1977, he is reported to have fallen to his knees, and Stapleton baptized him. However, he never left the pornography business. There are so many good chapters, and they're all provocative reading. Toward the end of the book, there is help for those who are seeking it, and for those who want to help. 4 stars (A Strucural Engineer's Necessity) - It is pretty difficult to review a specification that you must have. 5 stars (49 states are now adopting this Code) - Better learn this code. Local codes are being swept away by one standard. Here is Colorado each town had its own test, amendments and licensing system. California is the only state, having revamped its code 2 years ago, to keep its system. I finish basements, often for homeowners who think they can do it. From Loveland, I can work any city without irate inspectors wondering why I don't know their specific requirements. Good book. ...

Pokemon LeafGreen with Wireless Adaptor

3 stars (So So Remake) - I've been playing Pokemon since the beginning, and I love the recent innovations to the game, however Leaf Green does not bring much to the table. It is a complete repeat of the Red/blue/yellow games, with better graphics and sound. I did like Kanto and was glad they brought it back, but I thought some of the game would be updated. All of the story lines are exactly the same as well, word for word. I actually used my Pokemon Yellow book to help me. One of the only new features to the game is the running shoes, which add much more to the sometimes staggering slow pace of the storyline in Kanto. There is also the addition of the VS Seeker to replay trainers, but it takes awhile to recharge it and you can only battle trainers right near you when you turn it on. I also found that some of the Pokemon seemed much weaker in this remake, and harder to level. I picked Bulbasaur as my starter, and it took me several tries (at about a level 65 or so) to beat the elite four. I don't remember having that many problems beating them with Venusaur before. In general, it's not a great game storyline wise, but it's a great addition to anyone who really wants to "catch em all", and the wireless adapter is very important for this whole series of games, as well as to recieve special nintendo events onto your games such as the mystic ticket to get Lugia and Ho-oh. 5 stars (Pokemon at it's best) - It's truly a great pokemon title. It has ALL of the features from the classic pokemon red/blue and many more. Gameplay:You start as a newb pokemon trainer that gets his first pokemon from a professer that lives in your town. Choose from the original 3 starters (bulbasuar,Charmander and squirtle). All of them have there pro's and con's but truly bulbasuar just bl0ws. Then u venture to different towns fighting your rival, Somehow he always gets the pokemon that beats yours.... =(. After u beat all 8 gym leaders you fight the elite four. The Acorn People

5 stars (Thought Provoking) - In reviewing the reviews written for this book I was appaled at some of the reviews that I read. I seems that this world is trapped in a "Hollywood mentality" in which every book should read like a movie, fast and shallow. This book is much deeper. Although it is short, and obviously cuts out some of the trying times they must have gone through at camp, the author chooses to write it as an uplifting message. Anyone who is bored by this book is missing the deeper message. Children/people with handycaps are human also, and they have to suffer much more than any of us could possibly imagine. This is a story about special children allowed to be normal children, like they were meant to. 1 stars ( The Acorn People Book Report) - 1. The Acorn People takes place in Camp Wiggin, with all the usual camp settings like a pool, mountain, art room, etc. etc. The main character is Ron, a youthful camp counselor hoping to make an extra buck by volunteering. He manifests a selfish, arrogant personality at first, but later you see his more passionate, caring side when he really bonds with the kids. The first boy is a victim of polio, Benny, who is about 12 and African American. Suffering from muscle sclerosis, Thomas Stewart, a young teen, weighs only 35 pounds. The most loquacious client is Spider; he lost both his arms and legs in a gruesome car accident, but adapts and uses his mouth for everything. Not having a bladder takes its toll on social skills, especially in the case of Arid Aaron. His lack of bladder forces him to carry around a bag for his malodorous bodily fluids, hence the name. The most able bodied of the group is Martin, a blind boy. The point they are trying to get across in this book is that disabled persons can do anything non-handicap persons can do; we are all equal.
