5 stars (Great Study Book) - This book was very helpful to use for preparing for the General GRE Exam. I thought they covered each section of the text very well and explained how to do well in each part of the exam. The practice tests were a great study tool as well. 3 stars (Warning to Mac Users) - If you use a Mac, AVOID this book. The reason I state this is that you won't find out until you've opened the envelope containing the CD that it works on Windows only. They do not have a Mac CD to send you -- you are up a creek. As for the rest of the book -- it's standard test-taking skills. If you need that, it's fine. 5 stars (The best resource) - I only had a few weeks to study for the GRE and the Premier program, 2006 edition, was the best resource. It helped in all three catergories and gave useful examples. The accompanying CD was also a great tool. It gave great practice tests that helped me prepare for the actual test. This is a MUST if you have a time constraint. ...

Kaplan PSAT 2006 Edition Kaplan Psat

4 stars (Same as 2005) - While, this book is great, comparing it to the 2005 version I saw that the practice tests were exactly the same. Basically the 2005 version just got a new cover. If you dont have the 2005 version, get the 2006, but if u do buy something else unless you want repeat questions. 5 stars (This book delivers results) - This year's edition is basically the same as 2005's. Last year when my son took the pre-test in the book, he scored a 169. By time he finished the book and took the last practice test, he scored a 211. When he took the actual PSAT test, he scored a 207. The practice tests really help. And Kaplan's easy-to-use book was very readable. ...

3 stars (GOOD STRATEGY BOOK) - Provided a lot of strategies that helped ease some nerves. This book tells you how to think through questions, eliminate the wrong answers instead of looking for the right one was the most important lesson learned. This book however lacked the number of questions. I used this book and the Saunder's Comprehensive Review book to study for the NCLEX-RN exam and am happy to report that I passed the exam on one try. 5 stars (Excellent) - If you don't pass your boards after reading the first nine or chapters you must be an idiot!!!!! 4 stars (Kaplan NCLEX review) - I really liked the booklet and the strategies that are given but the CD ROM left a little to be desired in my opinion. ...

GMAT 2006- Premier Program Kaplan Gmat Book - CD-Rom

3 stars (Good practice problems, bad presentation) - I preferred 'Cracking the GMAT', which I read first. I ended up using this book primarily for the practice problems. My big complaint with this book was that in the answers to the practice questions, the problem isn't included. To see the original question, you have to flip to the quiz, then back to the answers...this style makes it difficult to see where you went wrong. Note that the CD version only works on Windows, and you won't see this information printed anywhere obvious. 3 stars (Some parts good, some less so.) - The good: The book itself has some fairly good explanations of things and useful tricks. The practice questions are nice to have, especially the data sufficiency questions which are so unlike anything the average college student has previously encountered. The mediocre: Much of the explanation is *too* much, I think, for a book that's supposed to be geared at people who either have graduated or will be shortly graduating from college, but I may be nitpicking with that. What I definitely find irritating is that the book seems to have been poorly proofread; I caught one reference to 'going back to a question later' or something similar which must have been from a version predating the CAT! The bad: The internet portion offered works very poorly and doesn't give you much that the book and CD don't, though they certainly hype it enough. And the practice questions are generally of easy-to-moderate difficulty, even though it's an adaptive test, probably to get high-level test takers to purchase their separate GMAT 800 book. The gist: If you just want to survive it, this'll probably do you fine. If you're expecting to expand on your preparation with other books, question sets, or prep programs, this seems like a good place to start. But if you want to really do your best, you're going to have to do more than just this book. Since it's a $250 test, you can probably afford a few other boo...

Kaplan GMAT 800- 2005-2006 Kaplan Gmat 800

4 stars (Satisfactory) - Good for students who need hard questions to get above 700 on Gmat. Tan 5 stars (Good book, Excellent verbal practice) - I am finally over with the GMAT... what a nice feeling :) I decided to try and save some money and study on my own using all the books I could find. I used: * Kaplan 800 (2005-2006) * Kaplan 2005 * Princeton 2003 * The Official Guide * Barron 2000 * Kaplan and Princeton CD-ROMs. I found the GMAT 800 very useful, especially in the verbal section. While doing the drills I was getting about half of them wrong, which allowed me to improve by learning from my mistakes. The Reading Comprehension passages are simply the ugliest one can imagine - Very good preparation for the exam. The critical reasoning questions also had some nice edges to them and confusing answers to choose from (Reading the explanations removed the confusion and helped me understand the reasoning behind the answers) Oh, and the Sentence Correction... These were a joy! Some very tough ones in that section and they touch all the types of questions that can be found in the exam. The math section was o.k. It has the toughest math questions from all the books, but still not close enough to the real exam, and here I really felt there were too few question. If had to choose two books to study with, I would choose this book and the official guide (and the CD-ROMs) Overall this is an excellent book, either as a first book to introduce the different types of questions, or as a review of hard questions a week before the exam. 5 stars (GMAT vs GRE) - I aced the GRE, after studying 3 months while taking 12 credits in undergrad. I'm now addicted to standardized tests because I have found a system that works. I've taken a non academic Professional Liscense exam and ACED it using a system that I've found. I took those two standardized tests within six months, and now i'm going to be ready to take another within 3 months. THAT'S 3 standardized tests within NINE...

Kaplan GMAT-GRE-LSAT 2004 Deluxe Edition

1 stars (For GMAT, avoid this dog!) - I bought this product to help me study for the GMAT. I was particularly interested in the PDA flashcards for the GMAT so I could study on the go. There are two major issues with this product for me: 1) They do not explicitly say that the included software is identical to the GMAT 800 software, which I had already bought. Not too big of a deal, since I really just wanted the PDA software, but it would have been nice if this were noted in the product description. 2) Many of the PDA flashcards have serious errors on them. On the flashcards, there is a Question tab, and an Answer tab. For some flashcards, the answer on the answer tab wasn't even one of the options. On other flashcards, the description isn't correct, or leaves out special cases (and is thus wrong). They obviously put this product out too early and/or did not subject it to any quality control, and I have not seen any updates on their website. Actually, I haven't seen ANY updates for anything on their site. If I could do it over, I would have just bought the GMAT 800 book/CD combo instead. The flashcards are virtually worthless. ...

1 stars (Faulty Software) - When my daughter used this product, it did not save the scores on her practice, so she could not progress through the program. This is a major flaw. 3 stars (good review, campy delivery) - I am mid 20's, about to finish a military enlistment and preparing to return to college. This program was very good at refreshing concepts and providing alot of practice tests. However the method of delivery is campy. It feels like it was prepared for a 6th grade audience, cartoon like sound effects, silly music, etc. I would have given this 4 stars if the maturity level of delivery was more in line with the 16-18 year audience it should be aimed at. ...

3 stars (Don't buy this!) - Don't buy this. The interface is very cartoon-like and looks like it was made for a third grader. The program is also rather slow and the screen frequently goes all white (this is not my computer's problem). As for the actual content it's test prep. So its boring. I don't know what to tell Kaplan to do to liven it up, but once you get past the menu screen its just multiple choice questions. If you want multiple choice questions, just buy a book instead. ...

The balanced scorecard made it possible for managers to express and measure operational performance. This article discusses the integration of the four balanced scorecard perspectives (financial, customer, internal-business-process, and learning-and-growth) into strategic planning. In order to do this the authors introduce four (new) processes. The first process is called 'translating the vision' and helps managers to build a consensus around the organization's vision and strategy. The second process - communicating and linking - allows managers to communicate their strategy throughout the organization and link it to departmental and individual objectives. The third process - business planning - enables companies to integrate their business and financial plans. 3 stars (The introduction of the balanced scorecard in companies) - This 1993 Harvard Business Review article, by Harvard Business School professor Robert Kaplan and David Norton, president of Nolan, Norton & Co., builds on their 1992 article 'The Balanced Scorecard: Measures that Drive Performance'. In that article, the authors made it possible for managers to express and measure operational performance. Acccording to the authors, the balanced scorecard is not a template that can be applied to businesses in general or even industrywide. Therefore, the authors introduce the use of the balanced scorecard within three companies in three different industries - Rockwater (subsea engineering and contruction company), Apple Computers (computers), and Advanced Micro Devices (semiconductors). The authors provide a step-by-step guide to building a balanced scorecard and explain very shortly the link between the balanced scorecard and external reporting. The article concludes with an interview with Larry Brady, executive vice president of FMC Corporation (diversified company in the US), who explains how their organization has implemented the balanced scorecard. I was disappointed by this article. The weakness in this article is that it is useless without reading the authors' first article on the balanced scorecard. In my opinion this article just provides the reader with examples of the introduction, implementation and use of the balanced scorecard within companies. Okay, the authors provide a useful step-by-step guide for building a balanced scorecard, but that does not make up for the lack of new information/knowledge on the subject. My advice: Get their first article 'The Balanced Scorecard: Measures that Drive Performance, and then read their 1996-article 'Using the Balanced Scorecard as a Strategic Management System' or their 1996-book 'The Balanced Scorecard: Turning Strategy into Action'. 4 stars (good stuff) - If you need more check out www.antiventurecapital.com for startup manual for entrepreneurs who are unable or unwilling to tap venture capital. 4 stars (Great for a Quick Study of Mapping) - No, this is not an intense study of mapping, but if you're interested in gaining a quick overview of the concept so you can participate in a strategic mapping initiative, this article will help prepare you for the process. Also very useful as a visual reference aid while working through a more thorough publication such as "Strategy Maps" by Kaplan and Norton. For $7, I felt it a worthwhile purchase. However, there was a technical glitch. When I downloaded it, the article came up within IE6 and Adobe Acrobat. My printer was at the office and the File, Save menu options were greyed out. I didn't want to lose the article, so I clicked to Explorer in WinXP, located the LocalSettings folder and from there the TemporaryInternetFiles folder, sorted by size, and there it was - approx 3,500K. I copied and pasted into MyDocuments folder and it appeared with the proper name.
