Indigo Dreams- Meditation and Relaxation Bedtime Stories for Children- Improve Sleep- Manage Stress

5 stars (Great relaxation CD!) - I purchased this CD for my kids (ages 9 & 6)about a year ago. They love it and so do I. At first they were both a little giggly at it but then after a night or two they were asking for it and it began to be part of our nightime ritual. I love it as well and have found it to be very relaxing myself. I have some of my own relaxation CD's that I listen to and this CD uses the same methods for relaxation but in a kid friendly way! It's just great. I'm looking for another one for some variety. 5 stars (Indigo Dreams) - This is a great relaxation CD. I purchased it for my 9 year old son, who is having problems with night terrors and anxiety in general. Since we have started listening to it to go to sleep, the night terrors have significantly decreased and he seems more relaxed overall. I highly recommend this CD -- it is a great way to teach children how to relax. 5 stars (Great for the entire family!) - I recently ordered this CD for my 4 yr old daughter. The first night we listened to it together, and she enjoyed it very much. Even I managed to follow the stories and relax right along with her. It helped her fall to sleep and have a restful night. No more nightmares or monster's under the bed, she looks forward to bed every night. Highly recommed it to parents of kids with a lot of energy. You won't believe the change. ...

Glencoe Algebra 1- Integration Applications Connections

1 stars (DON'T BUY THIS BOOK!!!!) - My name is Sarah and I attend Ridgeway High School located in Memphis, Tn. I am in the 11th garde. I'm taking Alebra II right now, but I remember dealing with that book. It is not a good book. They have pages put in the wrong places. They will tell you to do a problem and you wouldn't know a thing about it, then at the end of the chapter, it will show you everythign about it. I encourage you not to buy this book. I would not waiste my money!!! 1 stars (High School Math Teacher) - I must agree with the other reviews: this book stinks. It is not organized in a logical order. For instance, in section 1-1 students are expected to translate verbal expressions into algebraic ones. To do this, a student needs to understand order of operations, which isn't introduced until a later chapter. If you are a teacher picking an Algebra 1 book for your students, don't pick this book. 1 stars (Crap) - My school buys this book obviously because it's cheap or something. Nobody gets this. The writers are too busy trying to sound intelligent and make themselves look good that they leave everyone behind. It's just crap. They act like your suppose to understand it already and the reason we have the book is to learn. ...

Algebra 2

3 stars (Its O.K.) - hey im an 8th grader in advanced classes. this book is okay cuz it has clean organization and stuff, and ive seen MUCH worse. lmao. it also has the *special* features like the study guides, extra help, and online resources. the really bad 1 i used in 7th grade, alg 1, by some otha company, was like 20 years old and uncolorful, stinkiyyy, boring, and unhelpful. lol i got a C. this book, however, isn't as bad, and also easyer to read. but its still math, one of my most unfavorite subjects!!! anyways, thank u 4 ur time and patience. 3 stars (not to good) - The book itself is bad enough. it teaches you as though it was teaching a mathmatician. i am a student, and the whole class has c's,d's,and f's. it does not give any other information that students would be confused about 3 stars (Pretty average, depends on your intentions) - In 9th grade, while taking Algebra 2 / Analysis, I used this book. Well, I didn't "use" it to learn the material. (Partly because I knew it all anyway, but that's besides the point.) The truth is that this book doesn't really teach you much as it's explanations are breif and I never really read them anyway. It's good it you want to do homework problems as it has many problems and even solutions in the back. Therefore, it really matters what you intend to use this textbook for. If it's just for homework and doing problems, it's good. If it's to teach an entire Algebra 2 course, it's not so good. ...

Writers Inc- A Student Handbook for Writing and Learning

4 stars (Helpful Handbook) - This book is helpful, especially for middle school aged children who are learning the proper techniques of writing. It is easy to use. 5 stars (Outstanding Resource: Simple, Organized, Invaluable!!) - It has been proven time and time again the necessity of well-spoken and well-written language. Industry professionals, chief executive officers, and medical students use a different language than rap musicians and drug dealers. Those with the few minutes required to easily reference this book while writing will far exceed the minimalist expectations of modern education and, no doubt, far exceed the annual income level of their post graduate classmates. Neither race nor economic class is as great a social divide as language abuse and misuse. Not only has this book remained in print for quite some time, but it is one of the few books from high school I refuse to discard. Reading this book from cover to cover, although personally encouraged, is not absolutely necessary. Organized more akin to a dictionary, this guide is ridiculously simple to navigate within its many tips and tricks. Although I held a great jealously towards my senior-year, male English teacher who managed to steal the attention of the few young women in our class through the rhyme and reason of old poetry, he did our class a great justice through the forced purchase of this book. The difficult choices you make in life determine your overall success or failure; ask, what literature will survive the test of time: Shakespeare or your last AOL Instant Messenger conversation? 4 stars (essential guide) - I was introduced to this book in high school where we were required to have a copy and use it throughout all four years of English classes. I found it so invaluable that my first copy was worn out during college. Combined with "The Elements of Sytle" (Strunk and White), there is no excuse for poor writing. ...

The Catholic Faith Handbook for Youth

5 stars (A basic guidebook concerning all things Catholic) - The Catholic Faith Handbook For Youth is a basic guidebook concerning all things Catholic. Intended for young adults, yet accessible to anyone who may be fuzzy on the details of Catholicism, The Catholic Faith Handbook For Youth covers creed, sacraments, morality, and prayer, along with articles concerning information on current events from a Catholic point of view, advice for prayer, profiles of thirty-seven Catholic saints, notes on the history of the Catholic Church, and more. Full-color illustrations pepper this highly readible introduction to a spiritual way of life. Especially recommended reading to share with one's preteen and teenage children in order to teach them more about Catholicism and what it means to live one's life by Catholic religious principles. ...

The Cosmo Kama Sutra - 77 Mind-Blowing Sex Positions

5 stars (Good Drawings, Modernized Text) - I first went and looked at the Kama Sutra in the free on-line version at books-on-line.com. The price was certainly right. But it was the original, ancient text, and somewhat hard to follow. Damn good reading, but sometimes hard to imagine just what they were talking about. Now comes this edition, very reasonably priced which takes the positions and illustrates them with drawings. It's a lot easier to understand. I guess that I'm just a bit too simple minded. A lot of these look pretty interesting, but some of them (Face-to-Face Fandango, page 65) looks like it would hurt. The book is put out by Cosmopolitan, so it's oriented to the female side. Each position has a 'Why You'll Love It.' A little bit of 'Why He'll Love It' wouldn't hurt. After all this is a two person sport. 4 stars (The Cosmo Kama Sutra) - The pictures are great and it is really fun. Some of the poses I found were some we had just done naturally. All in all I recommend the book. 4 stars (Cosmo always good!!) - Great book!! This book put back the blazing fire in my relationship. Ven Conmigo-- Holt Spanish Level 1

1 stars (Horrible. Just horrible.) - I have no clue why my high school depends so much on these books. I show these textbooks to my family members (who happen to be from Costa Rica, Venezuela, and Spain) and we all just laughed at the sheer lunacy of these textbooks. We'd learn more Spanish in "America: The Book" than from the Holt books. The translations, dialogue, reviews, and examples were all trivial and laughably disorganized. How do they expect students to learn Spanish when 60% of the text is in English? There are much more efficient and easier ways to learn Spanish, the easiest language on Earth, than from an arbitrary slop of Holt publishing. I recommend Rosetta Stone, instead. 2 stars (A decent Spanish textbook for average-slow paced learners.) - In my school they used this book for Spanish I. I found that although it was adequate, it went at a pretty slow pace. Throughout the entire book, as far as verbs go, it only teaches the present active verb conjugations, the simple concept of being going to do something, and at the very end, the present progressive, which translates to I am running (etc.). One of the better parts of the book was the vocabulary. There were a good amount of nouns (although not as many verbs), and they were grouped somewhat coherently. 4 stars (I like this textbook series) - We used the Ven Conmigo series in my highschool Spanish I & II classes, and I found the textbooks very helpful. I guess the textbooks don't lay out every detail step by step--students need to take a certain amount of initiative for the learning process (like reviewing vocabulary on thier own time, participating in group work, and so on). These might not be the most appropriate textbooks for independent study though since a lot of the material is based on group activities, in class listening and videos, etc. Also, the guidance of a teacher (preferably a good one) goes a long way when attempting to create an excellent or great learning experience while usin...

Easy Spanish Phrase Book- Over 770 Basic Phrases for Everyday Use

5 stars (Easy Spanish Phrase Book Better With Language Dynamics CDs) - I highly recommend Easy Spanish Phrase Book: Over 770 Basic Phrases for Everyday Use This book is so useful because it uses high frequency vocabulary and 770 phrases that anyone could successfully use anywhere in the Spanish speaking world.. Being a long-time user of Language Dynamics products including Speed Spanish and Behind the Wheel Spanish I have to agree with Amazon's recommendation that they're better with Easy Spanish Phrase Book. The categories are quite similar and this small book enhances the lessons learned on the spoken CD courses. At times, I even thought they were part of the same course. Since 'Over 770 Basic Phrases for Everyday Use' doesn't come with CDs, I recommend you use either Speed Spanish or Behind the Wheel Spanish so you can learn to pronounce the words correctly from a great native Spanish speaker. The two form the ideal combo for learning Spanish. 5 stars (Good Choice) - This book is an excellent way to learn important phrases that aren't easily transferable from English to Spanish. 5 stars (wow!) - Wow, This book is such a great value! I mean, If this book was priced at $12.99, it STILL would be a great value, but for $1.50, It's shocking. This book tell you how to speak basic spanish. The index is usefull incase you need to look up a certain word, for example '' window'', Just go to the index and they will give you a sentecnce and the word window in spanish. Great book and I recomend it to anyone who isn't very fluent in spanish and needs some help. This would be good for students who take spanish in school, it would be great with homework. I would suggest you buy this book before the price increases. ...

Repaso- A Complete Review Workbook for Grammar- Communication- and Culture

5 stars (Un Repaso Perfecto) - Repaso was used as my school textbook for higher level Spanish courses in high school. Everything is great about it. The instructions are in English which makes it even more compatable. The book is able to review old concepts, but has enough to teach the little proper things about Spanish. It is a great purchase for any student that is just learning Spanish or has been taking it for many years and needs a reference. 3 stars (No Answers Given Here) - Although I agree that this book is certainly a bargain when compared to the standard textbook options that often cost 3-4 times as much, I was disappointed to find that no solutions to the exercises are provided. One must purchase ANOTHER book before the exercises in this book can really be said to be useful. I am a firm believer in immediate correction when it comes to language review and acquisition--spending time on exercises without knowing which you did wrong will only reinforce what are your misunderstandings of grammar. However, if you are willing (and able) to buy the solutions manual along with this book, then it will make a good review--though it won't be the bargain that it at first appeared. 5 stars (The most complete review around!) - If you had Spanish in high school but it's been a while since you've used it,then this is the perfect book for you! It begins with the simple present tense then progresses to the more complicated preterite and subjunctive. At the end of the book you will find interesting cultural tidbits to enhance your experience of learning the Spanish language. Have fun! ...

Every Young Man-s Battle - Strategies for Victory in the Real World of Sexual Temptation The Every

5 stars (Just what you are looking for...) - This book handles all the issues about sexual purity for every young man. Great. 3 stars (It makes me mad how this book portrayes the girls like they are victims.) - Are they victims? One of the girls says, "I was so wanting to wait for my wedding night, but I also wanted to make him happy, so I let it go too far." So its all his fault? He was wrong for pressuring her but she is wrong for letting it happen. She said he herself. "...but I also wanted to make him happy." Forget about his happiness. She said she wanted to wait for her wedding night. So she should have. So stop acting like its all the guys fault. Another girl stated that she really like this guy and he tried some things that made her uncomfortable. She said she asked him to stop but he persisted. "Finally he just wore me down and I eventually gave in. He had weakend my defenses." What! Ok, again. Guys should stop pressuring these girls like this. But it makes me mad that she settled for that. Oh woe is her. For goodness sake stand up and tell the guy no, and if he tries anything again. He's out of here. Another girl said she hated making her boyfriend feel bad and having the blame pushed back on her. So she gave in. So here is another victim. How come these girl couldn't stand up and say that she is not going to do it no matter how much he tries? And if he tries it again. She out of there. I'm sick of this blame being pushed on guys. I know we try. But these girls make it seem like that if we do try they are not powerful enough to resist. Is that true ladies? If it is, no wonder the guys are persistent. I have seen some very strong girls in my time and maybe somebody should teach these girls to be also. I remember a time when I was kissing this girl, which was her idea by the way, but when I tried to see if could have sex with her. She became furious. She grab my hand, pointed her hand in my face and said. "If I EVER did that again...

Feng Shui Your Life

5 stars (Feng Shui works!) - I first heard about feng shui from a woman who had been a physicist for eleven years, and then decided to become a feng shui practitioner. She found it to be totally consistent with the laws of physics. That made me interested in finding out more about it. No one could explain it better than Jayme Barrett, who's beautiful book should be on everyone's coffee table! She makes feng shui simple and easy to apply to your home or office right away. Just simple realignment of objects and furniture can help you sleep better, have more harmony in your relationships, and help more money flow to you more easily and Jayme shows you how. In the 24-hour period after I installed a fountain in my wealth center, I received nearly $2500. Jayme is a true transformational coach with years of professional experience, and her book is a real find! 5 stars (Positive changes for your life.) - This book is so much more than placement of furniture or painting your door red. You will want to read it from cover to cover many times. Ms. Barrett is truly an inspired and gifted writer bringing to her audience a way to ` Feng Shui Your Life '. Bringing energy into your home and into your life is not a quick fix but a lifelong pursuit. The author gives us many tools to work with in our every day lives. To be able to connect to our energy with our intuition and our sacred spaces brings healing on all levels. This is a great reference, instructional and inspirational book that you will want to revisit many, many times. I am deeply appreciative of the guidance and encouragement I received. If you read this book, you will indeed be grateful for the positive changes you make in your life. 5 stars (The One Book on Living Every One Should Own) - I've read myriad Feng Shui books over the years, but never one as clear, compelling, and truly motivational and spiritual as this one. Many feng shui books get caught up in what I think of as the excessive element...

5 stars (Great Reading and Great Readers) - This is a wonderful set for the whole family. We have enjoyed each book, read by different people, very much. Where we live, we must drive quite often, so the children and I are enjoying each story and the various readers, who lend their talents to each tale. 5 stars (Incredible) - Such a wonderful series of books. Great reading (listening) for any age. Takes you right into the tale C S Lewis has created. I recommend this series to everyone. 5 stars (Wonderful readings for kids and adults) - The reading of a book is really a performance, and this set includes many great ones. The Chronicles of Narnia

1 stars (Don't be so silly) - This book is silly. Fancy positing the idea that a lion rules the land. It's almost as silly as this book I read the other day about a man who does magic tricks and then people get suspicious of him so they kill him but then he comes back as a zombie, a nice zombie, he doesn't eat brains or anything and then he flies off home. The lion in this story has been compared to him I believe... 5 stars (Good clean fun!) - I enjoyed the stories again after 30 years between the first read. 4 stars (Fantasy for Children at it's best!) - I wanted to purchase the Chronicles not because of the upcoming film series (Come On, you know Disney will #$@? it up)...but to read to my child. Reading them again to him has shown me just how deceptively complex the stories are; and what is amazing is how moral and civil lessons, in true Christian sense, are taught and exemplified by the children's adventures: Most importantly is the ideal of forgiveness; which is the core of Christianity but which seems to have been forgotten, particularly by the right-wing lunatics who I am appalled by hearing themselves called Christians...children of Mammon, perhaps, but Christians? Riiiight. Anyway, this edition is wonderful, I gave it four out of five stars for one flaw, which is the type-setting. It seems alot of the page-breaks were left in, resulting in one sentence being cut almost half a page early, and continued below it, as well as a few words which are still hyphenated but shouldn't be as they are in the midst of a line, and not the end of the margins. Nonetheless, the binding is great, sturdy and heavy, which has not been the case with all my hard-bound books of late. This is definately a volume I would recommend, and excellent to keep for the grandchildren and so forth, on your best shelf. It is nice that it contains all of the original art, and the stories are placed in the order the author intended. Fantastic. ...

Am so glad I did. The books kept me enthralled one after the other. I cannot wait for my grandson to read them now so that we can share the fun. These books stretch the imagination and they have under-lying morals and good attitudes as well. I highly recommend them to all. 5 stars (Complete Chronicles of Narnia) - Seven books by C.S. Eldest

4 stars (An adequate sequel to 'Eragon,' yet moderately flawed) - One of the most compelling aspects of the Inheritance series stems from the fact that it belongs to the young adult/teen fiction genre and owes its existence to an author who started the series as a teen, and currently has two bestselling books under his belt as a young adult. A high school graduate at age 15, this author, Christopher Paolini, has some impressive credentials on his resume, and it is obvious that his inspiration for writing was driven by a penchant for fantasy/adventure-type fiction. In a sense, this actually makes reading these books just as drivingly forceful as it enables the reader to explore the world of literature as told from the perspective of one who has lived less than thirty years. ` Eldest ' (book two in the series) can be broken down into two storylines. The first storyline has our heros, Eragon and Saphira, sent to the land of elves known as Ellesmera, where Eragon must complete his Dragon Rider training. This training will become useful later as they must confront evil forces that threaten the peaceful atmosphere of Alagaesia. The second storyline focuses on Eragon's cousin, Roran. Back at their home in Carvahall, the village is threatened by the infestation of Ra-zac, and it is up to Roran to lead the denizens to freedom as he strives to rescue his love interest Katrina who is being held captive. To do that, however, he will need the assistance of Eragon. The result is a clash of opposing forces between the dragon riders and the ra-zac and this really puts our hero's training to the test. Flaws: - frequently jumps back and forth between storylines, often leads to confusion; -elves do not seem as wise as they are portrayed to be (Ex: Oromis fails to adequately address Eragon's questions concerning the world around him) ; - inspiration from other works might lead to unwarranted comparisons; - somewhat wordy and clich?#d; - a little dull in some spots Praiswort...

Modular Knits - New Techniques for Today-s Knitters

4 stars (fresh, light young, urban) - Fresh, light, young, urban. These are words that come to mind when I compare the styles in Iris Schrier's latest book to other recent books about modular knitting. They are all good but the designs in this one are more geared for up and coming young professionals. hip new knitters or knitters of any age who prefer a simpler, more understated look. Because they are less complicated and generally smaller they will be quicker to knit. Besides, Iris is a natural teacher so her instructions are easy to follow. 5 stars (Wonderful New Book for Knitters!) - Perfect book if you love hand-painted yarn and want it to look as good in your knitted piece as it does on the hank. It shows you through tutorials and 25 projects how to maximize the beauty of the yarn by turning and knitting to create interesting designs. Most of the chapters teach a way to knit in continuous modules without having to cut yarn or pick up stitches and the last one teaches traditional modular knitting. This is totally new stuff, so if you're adventuresome and want to expand your knitting abilities, you'll love it. ...
