1 stars (Essentials of Health Care Finance) - I bought the book of Essentials of Health Care Finance, it was delivered on time, however, some papers insided the book are very dirty, I can see the brown oily figure prints. I wish that I can exchange the book ... 4 stars (Troubling Guide to Alien Territory) - This books offers a broad coverage of health care topics for a non-financial person. It is most deeply flawed for its inability to communicate clearly to a lay person. Essentially it is a vocabulary primer of important financial principles and concepts. It requires abstract thinking and the ability to follow mathematical models. This reader studied Cleverly's text as a requirement for a healthcare finance class. The text was frustrating as this reader attempted to "know" everything about healthcare finances; however, this is probably not the intent of the book. It does present a road into the foreign land of finances. It demands respect for another set of data and another language for interpreting that data. One does not master this data set at one pass, however. Nevertheless, this reader did gain some new financial information. At the risk of being simplistic, but communicative; a listing of some of the concepts learned follows: 1. There are many users of financial information. 2. Financial information can guide the formation of programs. 3. Financial management is essential for successful healthcare organizations. 4. Various qualities of health care organization types. 5. How health care organizations make up for discouting and bad debt and capitated payments. 6. General principles of accounting and why they are important. Also that these principles still need to be explained, to be consistent, and to be clarified. 7. Overview of four main types of financial statements with a brief explanation of vaious line items. 8. That financial planning includes considering inflation before it happens, and for equipment etc. to break and wear out before it breaks ...

ServSafe Coursebook with the Scantron Certification Exam Form

1 stars (Don't buy this one if you are currently enrolled in a class!) - This is the out of print edition and doesn't contain the 2001 updates that most schools will test you on. 5 stars (great book and very helpful) - This book helped me a tremendous amount getting through the national certifation exam. Every three years we have to up date our certifation in California. I also purchased the Study Guide for the National Servsafe Exam: Key Review Questions and Answers with Explanations ISBN 0971999678 which is also on amazon. This book covers all levels of food safety. I highly recommend it, especially if it's your first time taking the course or exam. 5 stars (Very detailed and great pictures) - I live in Washington State where it's required to be certified in sanitation before applying for a job. I bought this book and also bought the Study Guide for the National Servsafe Exam: Key Reviews Questions and Answers with Explanations (ISBN: 0971999678) and it helped me pass the course and the national certification test. This study guide covers all necessary information you need to know to work in a restaurant or any other type of food service job. ...

Event Marketing- How to Successfully Promote Events- Festivals- Conventions- and Expositions

4 stars (Very Useful and Easy to Follow) - Event Marketing explores the promotions industry. Though it is a textbook, Hoyle delightfully surprises the reader by writing in a witty style. Why intimidate or bore the reader when you can engage them? Hoyle takes this obvious, but overlooked, premise and runs with it as he explains the events promotions business. Like Michael Levine's Guerrilla PR: Wired, which also has case histories and strategies in how to promote events in a low-cost fashion, Hoyle seeks to turn a confusing and frantic arena into one that, like all other areas, is more easily understood once clear and discrete steps have been demonstrated. The personal examples at the end of each chapter only serve to add credibility and weight to Hoyle's words. 5 stars (Raves for Event Marketing by Leonard H. Hoyle) - When I began reading this book, I knew it was a textbook and expected the normal dry, wordy textbook in which information is buried under an avalance of prose. I was delighted to find a work that was clear, complete, informative, and interesting to read. I found that I looked forward to each chapter and subject. The information is presented in prose, lists of important topics, and highlighting of certain need-to-know material in such a way that cross-refencing and finding previously studied material are amazingly accessible. Added bonuses are the quotes before each chapter and the personal experiences at the end of each chapter. The suggestions about organization, multitasking, and people management are so original and all-encompassing that I heartily recommend this book for everyone -- not only those interesting in planning events. 5 stars (so helpful!!) - The great insight on how to reach new event attendees was very helpful. I appreciated the variety of events that were mentioned in the book, along with the helpful appendice chocked full of information. Definitely a great purchase. ...
