Call of Duty- United Offensive Expansion Pack

5 stars (best game ever made) - this expansion pack is amazing and provides great improvements to the regular call of duty game. don't buy it for the single player - buy it for the amazing multiplayer. the graphics and movement have improved greatly. you can now run instead of just walk, and use smoke bombs, a great improvement. the weapons feel better - the action is fast-paced and more realistic. however, it's not perfect. many of the maps are so-called "tank maps" because they revolve around the use of tanks and jeeps. the jeeps are pretty cool, but these are a detriment to the game. you're better off not playing any tank maps at all. tanks are useless in that if you get in one, you'll almost instantly be blown to smithereens. in addition, the tanks keep spawning so this lame idea of "fun" is repeated ad nauseum. also the maps are much bigger and you spawn far away from the action, so there's too much walking or driving in UO. other negatives - sniper rifles are much much less useful than in regular COD. why? well, people can sprint and the faster people move, the harder they are to hit. also, smoke bombs cloud the sniper's vision. (still, the smoke is simply amazing). one more negative - artillery. artillery is a feature where when you reach a certain rank, you point with your binoculars and planes drop huge bombs on the enemy. for the most part it's cool, except there's simply too much artillery and when one team uses it on the other team's spawn point, the game is virtually over, because you can't stop from being killed by it. this is a stupid oversight on the part of the makers of UO. other positives - new types of games, especially capture the flag, my personal favorite, greatly add to the fun, instead of playing old boring team deathmatch. also, make sure you turn your search filter on to search for "mods" so you can play new modifications and maps that people created. this adds to the freshness and excitement of the game. also t...

Call of Duty Mac DVD Rom

5 stars (CALL OF DUTY) - All out action holding one's attention and taxing one's skills for hours on end. A powerful adrenaline booster. All out fun and excitement. 5 stars (5 Stars Because I Can't Give It 6!) - Everyone is right--this is MOHAA the correct way. I'm still a big fan of MOH, but this is extremely fun. (Especially the zooming through the french countryside in a "tin can" car. What a hoot!) In defense of MOH--and although I don't know this to be the case--I would guess that MOH is easier on your system than COD. COD's graphics and sounds are UNEQUALED, so you need a beefy system to get the most out of it. (I'm running a G5 with a hefty video card.) So, in a nutshell, this game rocks. I was skeptical of the 50 buck pricetag, but as soon as I post this review, I'm headed over to buy the expansion pack. It's that good. Trust me. 5 stars (Awesome Mac Game) - This is a superb game. It runs smoothly on my mac (Powerbook G4 867, 640 RAM) most of the time, but I wouldn't recommend it if you have much below that. There's a wide variety of weapons and battle scenarios, and you fight as American and British paratroopers, and as a Russian sniper. They have obviously taken a lot of the battle scenes, landscapes, and plot ideas from Band of Brothers and Enemy at the Gates, which is neat if you've seen those. Unlike a lot of shooters you don't just run around and shoot everything in sight, in fact playing cowboy will just get you killed most of the time. You have to work with your squad to accomplish your objectives, and when someone tells you to cover them you damn well better, otherwise you're going to find yourself exposed and without backup later in the mission. My only complaint is that it is too short, I beat the game within 2 or 3 days. But, it's fun to go back and replay missions, and after you've finished with the original there's still an expansion pack and multi-player mode. If you're looking for a solid, fun, and realistic looking war game this is...

Call of Duty Deluxe Edition

5 stars (A Great game for FPS and WWII buffs) - This game was amazing. The action was top notch graphics were stunning and they had great missions. It couldnt get much better. GREAT BUY! 4 stars (Awesome, BUT...) - Call OF Duty and it's Expansion (United Offensive) are truly great games... if you've never seen a war movie in your life. It has GREAT effects, low hardware requierments, great gameplay... but the story seems like it's pieced together from WW2 movies like "Saving Private Ryan" and "Enemy at the Gates". It seems like i've played this game before. Never-the-less, as far as WW2 games go, this one is sure one of the better ones. 4 stars (Fun Game) - I'm still new to the game, but my impression so far is that is an excellent FPS game. Call of Duty- Game of the Year Edition

4 stars (Consuming FPS that puts you in the action) - I am a more mature gamer and like the realistic sims, RPG and FPS type games. I played the demo first and then bought the full version and it has been a lot of fun. When you are playing a game, but you are hesitant to look around the next corner and your heart rate goes up anticipating being shot at - you are in the game. The controls are quick and easy to master. The graphics occassionally leave a hand or other article halfway through a wall, but overall they aren't bad. The range of difficulty levels is good allowing you to get shot a lot at the entry level and only taking two hits or so at Veteran level. It really gives you a good appreciation for what it would have felt like to be in some of those WWII engagements. 5 stars (Amazing Game) - This is a great game to spend hours of emotion in front of your PC. You will feel like in the battle field. 5 stars (The Greatest WWII Game...) - Throughout my life, I have played numerous World War 2 First Person Shooter games, but "Call of Duty" Is the one of the few that stands out. It is truly one of the greatest World War 2 games ever made. Many World War Two games create a generic feel of the war. They rush you into some battle, you hit the trigger and blow up a few Nazis. Some world war two games actually feel realistic, they have stories built in to the game and have spectacular visual/sound effects. But Call of Duty goes well beyond that. It doesnt just make you feel as if you are in the game, it makes you feel like you are a soldier in the 101st Airborne, The British Spec Ops, and The Red Army. You devolve a close bond with your fellow soldiers who are not super heros, but rather ordinary men who answered the Call to war when their country needed them. Each mission was realistic from the way the bullets fly from each gun, to the shell shock from each explosion. Call of Duty- Big Red One

5 stars (Welcome change to a genre I thought I knew) - If your like me, you saw the medal of honor franchise stagnating, not exactly in decline, but there was little forward movement. Then along came Call of Duty Finest Hour. Wow. Well if you liked Finest Hour but didnt see what else could be done, look no further than Big Red One, which takes gamers into chapters of WW2 history that many people sadly dont know. Beginning in 1942, Two years before D-Day, and thus two years before any previous WW2 video game, this game brings the gamer, with the same squad of characters through the entire European theater, from the First clashes against the Vichy French in Algeria, to clashes with Afrika Korp and Italians in Tunisia. Unlike other games Africa is not merely a small two level affair, BRO gives it the sense of importance it deserves with over a quarter of the game happening there. Then its off to Sicily where you help knock Italy out of the war. I especially enjoyed fighting the Italians for a change, new weapons, vehicles and such. Once you get to France you realize just how tenacious the Germans are, and the game progressivly gets more challanging until you reach Germany itself. Definitely an amazing perspective, and a more realistic one. The average soldier did not, as Medal of Honor would tell you, end up in the OSS blowing up endless secret german or japanese weapons behind enemy lines, they would in fact be fighting inch by inch with their squad for the duration, and thats what stays with you when you finish this game, the sense of how long and hard the war was on the average soldier. Call of Duty- United Offensive Expansion Pack Mac

3 stars (war games) - Good action most of the time but could get monotonous some of the time. Would have been more fun if the ability to choose another weapon was there like for example a sniper rifle would have been better for a lot of the action. 5 stars (It Doesn't Get Any Better Than This!) - I thought the original COD was excellent, but this expansion raises the bar. The graphics are excellent. The missions are wonderful, but, in my opinion, the best, by far, is the all-too-short stint you do in a RAF B-17. Running back and forth between top guns, waist guns and tail guns is very exciting. The US missions are excellent, too, as are the Russian missions. As for resources, this game requires them. I have a middle of the road G5 and it runs fine. The only time it bogged down a tiny bit is during the final Russian battle in the rail yard. I have everything maxed out, though, so I could lower the settings and have no problems. So, if you have a newer machine, or you are ok with lowering the settings, you'll be ok. I'm anxiously awaiting more expansion packs for the Mac. In the mean time, I'll up the difficulty one notch and replay both games again. It's THAT good. Trust me. 3 stars (Requires too many resources) - I have an iBook G4 1.2GHz with 768MB RAM. The original Call of Duty ran fine. The expansion set, even with the lolwest graphics settings, does not run well. Picture jumps too much making it impossible to play, especially during big battle scenes. ...

Call of Duty 2

4 stars (I agree with MYSELF) - Well, I wasn't always a big "First Person Shooter" fan until I tried Call Of Duty (the first one) and I was hooked. I used to play the big strategy games like the other guy here is trying to sell but as far as this genre, This game rocks!! Maybe if you are 15 and daddy buys you a game, you have some inherent right to say it's terrible. Or if you have some concocted fantasy of Hollywood combat being real, then you might not like it either. No super buzz-wammo weapons, secret powers from other planets. Just straight "In your face" combat. Its what it shows on the box... It's what you get in the game. And the LAN experience is much more fulfilling because of the upped graphics. My only disappointment was that I wanted it bigger.. but I am completely satisfied. 1 stars (50 bucks down the tube) - I recieved this game yesterday. Installed after luch, around 1 PM. By 6 PM I was watching the credits. The game was intense, I'll admit that, but I didn't pay 50 BUCKS for 6 hours of entertainments! I feel robbed! When my dad, who payed the game, came back home and asked me if I was enjoying it I had to tell him I was just starting! If you can install and finish the thing in 6 hours then it's not worth more than 10 BUCKS!!! I would have gone to the movies!! It would have costed me a penny conpared to this!!! 50 bucks down the tube!!! I want my money back!!! 5 stars (Excellent effort.) - Call of Duty 2 makes no jump in the art of the WW2 first-person-shooter (FPS) but it is a refinement on the previous titles. If your system could play Call of Duty well you probably won't have any trouble with your hardware on this one. Call of Duty 2 Collector-s Edition DVD

1 stars (Annoying Game) - I am an avid fan of the original Call of Duty. The game was developed by the MOHAA team and was a true work of art. when the United Offensive expansion pack came out. Infinity Ward handed the developement over to the Wolfenstien people. BIG MISTAKE! Now Call of Duty 2 is out and guess what, it's the Wolfenstien crew again. BIG MISTAKE. Instead of making the game more challenging on a tactical or strategic level they have gone for the arcade approach by simply throwing unending wave after wave of enemies at you. Afer the 50th time of playing the same 45 seconds of a mission & still not getting through it becaust there are countless enemies in every corner of your path I pretty much give up. The russian missions arent too bad but get redundant after the first few maps. There is very little variation in gameplay. Ditto with the British missions. You find yourself going through the same paces with only slightly different environmental differences. (The El Daba map is the exception to this rule. It was the best map in the game & played differently than most of the others. Not surprisingly this was the pre release Demo Map. A bit misleading if you ask me) Although the British tank missions weren't nearly as annoying as the Russian tank missions in COD1 The American missions are just terrible. No strategy or tactics required. Just all out arcade shoot-em-up. (Even more annoying than shooting down the planes with the AA guns in COD1) At 47 years old I'm probably not the demographic Infinity Ward was targeting. The game is obviously meant for a much younger player base. Still it would have been nice to see a game that required a bit more intelligence, and a bit less hand eye co-ordination What they did manage to do right was to create a visually stunning environment with excellent effects.
