December Love by Robert Hichens

December Love by Robert Hichens , A Romance Novel set in England not so many years ago. **** He was a very ancient hand at the social game; he loved to play it; and he wanted as many as possible to join in, provided, of course, that they were "suitable" for such a purpose. Perhaps he slightly resembled "the world's governess," as a witty woman had once called him. But he was really a capital fellow and a mine of worldly wisdom...

Yourself- Fitness

5 stars (Great Product!) - I bought this product after I read an article in a magazine. It is great! I had it over a month now and each workout has been different. I have not lost any weight, but I am losing inches. Shorts that didn't fit me at the beginning of August now do! I noticed I have more energy and I am definitely not as crabby. It is a great product for someone who wants a workout without having to go to classes. 5 stars (Wonderful!) - I bought this item about two weeks ago and have been using it for a little over a week now. I THOUGHT I was in pretty good shape before Mya arrived--and oh, how she proved me wrong. There were a few days at the beginning there where I was seriously starting to consider if she might be trying to kill me. But, already I can feel a difference in my muscle tone (the soreness has yet to abate) and I am feeling much better about myself. Mya's encouragement, organization and spontanaety in routine have been a refreshing and thoroughly enjoyable (okay, so maybe not always SO much enjoyable) experience. My only critique is that sometimes she forgets to warn you when she's changing excercises (as in some of the yoga poses, in which you CANNOT see the screen), and sometimes she's a little fast in changing excersises or positions (but that may be just me). And I recommend a strong sense of humor for anyone trying the yoga poses for the first time--I think I wore out the tutoring button on those. So, in short, I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking to shed a few pounds, build some muscle, or just get in better shape. 5 stars (Outstanding choice, for someone who's tried EVERYthing) - I can't believe how much I've stayed motivated to work out. I'm normally the type of person who buys a workout tape and then only uses it a handful of times and then I'm sick of it. I am so impressed! I normally don't let myself work up to a sweat with other tapes, but with the way the moves are previewed (kind of like Karaoke...

Better Homes and Gardens Home Designer Pro 6

5 stars (Cyberthink Your Woodframe Construction) - What's comforting about this program, once you master it, is that its output (detailed plans for architectural entities such as rooms or houses or porches) conforms to real world physics to such a degree that it would almost be impossible to create a plan for something that you couldn't actually build. In other words, the program 'thinks' in the way an experienced carpenter or contractor would think. Thus, as you learn how to use the program, if you reflect on it, you're also learning authentic and viable construction techniques. The program offers many ways to visualize your plans in 3-D. The most fascinating and possibly the most useful is called 'glass house view' wherein what you have constructed within the program can be seen as if it were made of transparent material but still in proper perspective. The on-screen image of 'glass house view' lets you 'see through' walls and floors and roofs, once again, the way an experienced contractor would. 5 stars (Nothing even comes close to the value this software offers) - I was pleasantly surprised with how easy this was to get a product with fast. The icons and drop-down menus are intuitively laid out; I was drawing and 3-D viewing away right out of the box! I don't like to read software manuals any more than most people but this one has a very well written, thought-out manual, included video tutorials on CDROM and the program itself is thoroughly wired with Help when you need it. You can get better software than this but it will cost you at least four times as much. Perfect for the remodeling contractor or home designer. 5 stars (3D View Feature Helped Us Avoid Some Serious Design Mistakes) - I found Home Designer Pro 6 to be an excellent choice for software to design my new house. While this software does not have all the features of Chief Architect's more sophisticated software, Chief Architect 10, or AutoCad's architectural version, neither does it have the sub...

Susteen DataPilot for MacOS X

1 stars (Does not work with Mac OS X) - even though Susteen claims DataPilot for Mac supports my phone, a Samsung x475. Not only Mac users should be wary of purchasing this product but others should expect slow and inept technical support. After waiting more than a week for a response to my email request, the support tech's only advice was to upgrade to DataPilot version 2.2.0, which I had already clearly listed as my current version in the request. I have received no further response after I replied pointing out I already was using version 2.2.0 and asking for additional suggestions to get DataPilot to function. That was two weeks ago. Beware of this company! 2 stars (DataPilot for Mac OS X needs work & better customer service) - The short version: DataPilot for Mac is pretty much useless. It garbles calendar appointments when transferring to Apple Calendar or Entourage and lacks any form of merging/syncing capability between phone and these tools. It's more expensive than the PC version and customer support is unresponsive. I've returned my copy for a refund (thanks Amazon for making this painless). The long version: I've been looking for a way to synchronize my Entourage calendar with my cell phone (an LG VX6100). Fortunately e2sync does a fine job of bidrectional sync of Entourage contacts and appointments with Apple Address Book and Calendar, so I thought all I needed to do was find something that would bridge the gap to my phone. I'd looked at DataPilot a while back but they didn't support calendar transfer in the Mac version available at the time. The newest version supposedly supports it, and I found it on Amazon for an acceptable price. Data Pilot for Mac comes in only two versions: the software only or the Universal Kit version which includes all the adapters. For some reason Susteen does not offer a Mac version with a specific phone cable. Any way you slice it, the Mac version is more money than the PC version. For the premium, I expected at least eq...

Star Wars Jedi Knight- Jedi Academy Mac

3 stars (Good/Bad, I can't classify it, it goes all over the board) - I'm going to warn everyone looking at buying this game to make sure that their computer's specs are much more than the requirements of this game. My Computer has twice the requirements and I get really choppy performance (twice the RAM, twice the processor speed, a better than recommended graphics card, et cetera). The reason anyone's going to be looking at this game is for the lightsaber combat, which is awesome!. The problem is that when you're fighting someone else with a lightsaber, there's so much that the computer has to do, that your framerate drops to unacceptable levels. One thing to look at is this game's predecessor, Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast. My computer runs that game flawlessly, even with multiple jedi duking it out with all their powers. So I don't get why my coputer can't run this as well. One area where this game is much better than it's predecessor is the maps. In Jedi Knight 2, I'm always looking at the maps and thinking about, "why is there this bottomless pit here?" Or, "How did all those guys up there shooting at me get there, there's no way up or down from there." At least in the two levels of this game that I've played (I have the demo, not the full game) everything seems to have a purpose where it is, even if it does seem a little odd (like a tomb in ruins, that's built straddling a bottomless rift) As for the story, I can't tell you whether or not it's compelling like the one in Jedi Knight 2 or not because I haven't played the full game, but from what I've read, it's a lot more contrived than it's predecessor. So beware of this game, don't play it unless your computer is at LEAST 1.25ghz and you have about 512mb RAM, otherwise you'll get stutters where you don't know what's happening. As for me, I'm not going to buy it solely because of the poor performance I've gotten on the demo, I might buy it for my xbox though, just so I can play it through. 2 stars (Could...

Kingdom Hearts- Chain of Memories

5 stars (this game is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) - When i first played this game i thought it was absoloutly fantastic!!! There is a secret mode where you get to play as Riku. There are many hard bosses that you need a stradegy for. When you beat hard ones you're heart will be thumping so hard and you wil jump up and down saying "Thank you God!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when i beat sora mode I was so so so so so so so so happy. There are really helpful enemy cards that you get every time you beat a boss(for the final time). 3 stars (It Can Get Boring Easily) - One of the really bad parts of this game is the whole card system. It just gets annoying very easily. But hey, it's a GBA game, whatdidya expect. KH2 should make up for it. JESSICA ALBA IS STILL THE HOTTEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD!!! 5 stars (This game is awesome!!!!) - I recently purchased this game and frankly this game is AWESOME!!!!!!.The story is good the gameplay is great and the graphics are flawless. Some of the cutscenes are even like Ps2 graphics!!.the fighting system is card based but dont let that fool you because it is still very good.it I never thought square enix and disney could make a kingdomhearts for the GBA that is this good but it looks like they did.I think its safe to say that Square and disney have created another masterpiece. ...

The Legend of Zelda- A Link to the Past

5 stars (unbelivable) - if you like the legend of zelda the minish cap, you will love this game and vise-versa. 5 stars (A classic! And a must have for any GBA owner!) - I can't count the hours I spent playing the Zelda games as a kid. I was very pleased when Nintendo decided to start re-releasing the classics on the GBA. This is very true to the original with a few changes. Most additions they made I consider to be nice improvements, and they add a little "new-ness" to a very nastolgic game. Other features, like Link screaming whenever he falls or swings his sword, are a bit annoying but quickly become unnoticable due to the sheer fun factor of the game. The 4-swords addition is a nice touch as well, and adds a bit of multiplayer fun to the package. 5 stars (review) - Nothing beats the classic game for nostalgic impact. I remeber playing the game as a little girl and its just as much fun now. I would highly recommend the new Zelda game the Minnish Cap for everyone. It occupies my time out here fairly nicely. ...

Halo Mac

5 stars (Halo for Mac) - A Good game, lots of action, 4 difficulty levels, what more could you want!! Challenging and Fun at any level, A must Have! 5 stars (HALO Combat Evolved Mac OS) - Over the past month this has been a truly addictive game. Just the campaigns have had me cringing and jumping out of my seat. The graphics are nifty, even on my somewhat modest dual 867 Powermac G4 with a paltry 32 MB of VRAM. If the campaigns are cool, the multiplayer action is downright marvelous! I connect via gameranger and play for hours against whoever is out there in myriad settings and game types. I am considering upgrading my machine in the hopes that there are more HALO titles coming! Kudos to whoever is responsible for porting this so that we few trivial Mac gamers can enjoy a taste of what the rest of the world is playing...albeit a few years later:-( 5 stars (Another Game to Remain in Your Collection Forever) - If you like FPS games (first person shooter), then you have probably heard about Halo. My Friends have the advantage of having an Xbox right (because of Halo)? Well as far as I knew Halo was only on Xbox and PC. It made me mad because after playing Halo multiplayer it was a blast and I couldn't even imagine how good the single player game would be. All I have is a Playstation 2 and a Mac. I thought to myself that Bungie (the creators of the game) would come out with a Mac version because their very first games like Marathon and Pathways were only for the Mac! And they were a great mac company. And what do you know, Halo comes out on Mac. I WAS SO HAPPY. I decided before I bought the game I might want a game pad similar to the Xbox controller because that is what i'm used to playing against my friends. So I look around on the net and I found the absolute perfect thing, an Xbox controller USB adapter that plugs in the USB port of your Mac or PC. So I can play Halo on my Mac with the Xbox controller set to the xbox controls!!!!!!!! Just like having an xbox...

Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac 7 0 Upgrade

1 stars (No Windows 98 support) - Beware...this "upgrade" drops support for anything less than Windows 2000. The system requirements mainly pertain to the Mac side of things and even Microsoft's site simply states that a "licensed copy of Windows" is required. Well, my copy of Windows 98 is licensed but doesn't work. Others have apparently migrated Win98SE but I had no such luck and met with disaster (thank gooodness for backups). So...It's great that it works on my G5, but unfortunately its useless unless I go out and buy WinXP or 2000 and go through the pain of migrating my PC info. 3 stars (Really meant only for a G5 ...) - It works pretty well, but (as other reviewers have stated) VPC is an absolute BEAST on your systems resources. You have to keep in mind that you're (basically) running two operating systems at the same time; and, unfortunately, both Win XP and OS/X are rather demanding on your system's RAM and processor speed. Again, VPC works well and I'd have no problem recommending it, but MAKE SURE you have at least a Gig of RAM and a G5 processor. Anything less and (although it may still work) you'll be so displeased with the performance that you'll want to put your head through a wall. 2 stars (ssssslowwwww......) - I purchased MS Virtual PC 7.0 w/Windows XP about six months ago for use on my 1.33 Ghz G4 iBook. Setup was relatively easy and took about an hour and a half to complete. Unfortunately, it was all down hill from there. My main reason for buying Virtual PC was to run MS Money 2005 Deluxe on my Mac (Quicken for Mac is terrible, but that's another story). It took about 5 minutes to open my Money file. This was followed by an endless series of painfully long wait times between key strokes. Eventually it locked up completely. After about six more attempts I gave up. I tried playing several games like Rise of Nations and Age of Empires but they were just as tedious and often locked up during the initial loading. I strongly recommend...

Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac 7 0

4 stars (This emulator works) - I've been using Virtual PC for about six months now and I am satisfied. I use Virtual PC to run Microsft Money and QuickBooks on a G5 with 1GB of RAM, of which 700MB is allocated to Virtual PC. Using an emulator can be slow. But I've found that if you use one program at a time, it responds well. In other words, if you stay in Quickbooks and don't swap over to AppleMail, Safari, etc, the program running in the emulator works reasonably well. Surprisingly, I haven't run across any Windows issues. Installation of Virtual PC and Windows XP, Money and Quickbooks all occurred without any concerns. I have not experienced any BSDs (Blue Screens of Death) or any other hang ups. When running Virtual PC, the G5 will not go into sleep mode. So, if you leave your G5 running all day and night like I do, the energy savings mode will not kick in. If you need to run more complex programs in Virtual PC, I suggest that you max out the RAM at 2GB and devote as much as possible to the Virtual PC. One minor annoyance is that when swapping between programs, sometimes it take Virtual PC a long time to respond. So say you are working in Safari and you then move into Virtual PC. It can sometimes take 15-20 secs before Virtual PC responds. 1 stars (Misleading Advertisement) - The product does not include the Windows operating system needed to make the program work, and this was not made clear in the advertisement. There is no benefit to buying this; I now need to track down Windows operating system for the Mac. 1 stars (Virtual PC: a big waste of money) - Virtual PC is a big waste of money. For not much more money you can buy an inexpensive PC to run your windows based programs. Virtual PC is slow and is filled with glitches and problems but don't try to get any customer support because it is $35 to get help. ...

Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac 7 0 with Windows XP Home

5 stars (Virtual PC for MAC OSX) - This is an amazing program. It worked even better then I had hoped. I love Amazon.com because my items always arrive on time and are always what I thought they were. 1 stars (Waste of money) - This software arrives with little content....the implication in the descripton (at least to me) was that it included most, if not all, of Microsoft's XP. Not true at all....typical Microsoft ripoff. Plus won't accept uploads from Mac disk drive. All in all, a total waste of time and money. 1 stars (More or Less, It Works) - I use Virtual PC on a PowerBook G-4 with 512M of memory; running under Tiger. Updated to 7.2 via Microsoft website. In the 3-4 weeks that I have used it, the program had crashed the Mac about 6 or 7 times; each time I had to force a power off via the power switch. I also found that "save state" tends to cause the crash more often. The speed was acceptable for programs like Quicken, but probably not for games. I suggest that anyone interested in this program check out the Virtual PC forum on Apple website for comments, etc... before buying. ...
