Behind the Wheel Chinese Mandarin - Level 1- Learn to Speak Mandarin Chinese Quickly and Easily- 8

5 stars (Exceptionally Excellent) - I have purchased and successfully used Behind the Wheel Chinese/Mandarin. It blows me away that a person buying a car course in Chinese would complain about having a written text, Pinyin version or otherwise. Any true scholar of Chinese will tell you that learning to speak the language correctly is the key. Written Chinese is a whole new ball of wax and can actually detract from the learning experience for speaking purposes at least. Imagine trying to read Chinese while driving. Give me a break. For that reason, Behind the Wheel Chinese is simple, straightforward, easy to understand, easy to use. The course has two excellent native Mandarin speakers, a male and a female and an American instructor without an accent who explains everything. Both voices repeat twice so that you can duplicate the difficult and challenging sounds of Mandarin which uses different 'tones' to convey meaning. You learn all of this stuff in the comfort of your own car without having to look up or read anything. If you really want to learn to speak Mandarin, I recommend you go out and buy this course immediately. After you have learned to speak Mandarin at a conversational level from the course like I have, then go out and learn to write it if you will. Not me. I'm thrilled enough just to be able to speak and understand Mandarin at a normal conversational level. 2 stars (Almost but not quite) - There is no written version of the words and phrases on the CD's. A Pinyin version would make this set exceptional, and accompanying Chinese characters would make it even more useful. As is, this version depends solely on memorizing sounds and their associated meaning. Furthermore, similar sounds cannot be compared via their written counterpart. A lot of good work and design wasted for lack of "blueprints." Without additional instructional materials, even taking notes is all but impossible, for there is no way to associate the sounds on the CD's with any...

5 stars (Great Product and Packaging) - My Behind the Wheel course is the best I have yet tried. My course arrived shrink-wrapped in a nice vinyl album with a very nice book. No complaints. Delighted with the course overall. 3 stars (Needs better packaging) - Good product in general. My biggest issue is that the packaging is so bad that each time it was sent to me the cds had fallen out of their place in the container and got scratched up. 5 stars (UnMatched ! Very nicely organized and not littered with a bunch of grammatical terminology and categorization that bogs a learner down. 5 stars (Excellent Organization and Method) - In looking at some of the reviews on this page I have to ask myself if I ordered the same course as these people. This review is for Behind the Wheel French 8 CDs by Language Dynamics. Lest you be swayed by the panic reviews that state that there isn't enough time to repeat or that the months of the year or the days shouldn't be presented in this order .... blah, blah, blah. Here are my objective, unbiased and clear opinions: First of all, the course is great. Easy to use and I mean E A S Y. This is not the first Language Dynamics course I have used, nor will it be my last. In my opinion the method used is beyond reproach and is far superior to anything out there that I have yet experienced. Celine has a marvellous and clear voice. Mark sounds confident and knowledgeable. Together they form an instructional 'team' dedicated to teaching you how to speak French. One is armed with native knowledge and native accent of the French language. The other, teaching experience and understanding of learning French as a native speaker of English. This rare and invaluable combination provides you, the learner, with a double insight. Celine's native accent and fluency. Mark's teaching experience and understanding of the French language. I understand from the website that Mark was even rated as an EXCELLENT instructor by his students at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Wow. Nice credentials. Celine on the other hand is fresh, clear, concise, and her voice and accent are easy to imitate. The organization and method involved are superb. Nowhere have I found a source that has taught me so much French in so little time. How do they do it? The system is actually quite organized. More traditional minds may view it as 'chaotic' because they are perhaps secretly seeking that grammatical 'morass' that constitutes most foreign language learning approaches. 5 stars (Good Book!) - I read this and it gives great alternatives for boys that are having a hard time in school. I definetly recommend it! 5 stars (The Boys' Educational Crisis) - Gurian and Stevens use scientific research to diagnose what every alert parent and educator has been thinking for over a century--boys' brains and bodies were NOT made for the modern western educational system. Our system forces boys to be taught in sedentary settings, using learning styles unfit for their masculine minds. Gurian and Stevens begin by documenting the boys' crisis in education. Such research, though not novel, when pulled together like this, rattles our cages enough to gain and keep our attention. However, the true strength of "The Minds of Boys" is its thorough, detailed, specific, field-tested solutions. In area after area, "Saving Our Sons from Falling Behind in School and Life" empowers parents to equip their sons to overcome the many obstacles that they face in the school setting. One can only hope that educators themselves will read and heed the advice of Gurian and Stevens. If they do, then the next hundred years could produce a much more boy-friendly educational system. Glorious Appearing- The End of Days Left Behind -12

5 stars (A Satisfying Ending or A New Beginning?) - I found this to be a great final chapter in this amazing series which has kept me spellbound for much of the past year as I read all 12 books. However, it is also clear that there's more to come, that this is by no means an ending but the commencement of a new series - one which I also look forward to with great eagerness. The characters, the storylines, the suspense, the cliffhanger endings all have been and I'm sure will continue to be memorable and mesmerizing! 5 stars (The Left Behind series gets better with each one) - I had an experience when I was young that made it difficult for me to read the book of Revelations. A Bible Study leader depicted the last coming as hopeless to all humans, and made God seem so vengeful that I turned away. I quit bible study and I quit reading the bible. It was not until I read the first Left Behind book that I realized that interpretation of Revelations can be fearful but not without hope. I read each book as it came out and slowly returned to reading the bible. This is scary stuff told as a fictional story, but it gives us all a reason to read and learn and to love and trust God. This book, Glorious Appearing: The End of Days continues to inspire and entertain at the same time. 1 stars (Glorious Appearing less than glorious) - Adequately describing the return of Christ in words would be next to impossible, but even given that disclaimer, this was one of the worst books I have ever read ... er, skimmed. The first few books in this series were captivating, but as the series dragged on, they became less and less interesting. The repetition in this book is almost nauseating (as one might expect when the events of 24 hours are described over 400 pages!). On the plus side, it only took a few hours to get through it ... ...
