5 stars (Concise and Complete) - I'm a medical doctor currently working in indigenous comunities in southern venezuela. I attend to a wide range of medical and non medical problems. I have used the CMDT almost daily since working here. It has proven to be complete and concise, wich is a great feature when you need to pack your stuff and take a boat to the next comunity!. It is not a review, but it will give you the initial ideas to start investigating or treating. So if you're working in a relatively isolated area, where getting seconds opinions is dificult and takes time, doubt no more, this book will be a great help to you. 5 stars (Great Resource for Health Care Professionals. ) - This text gives quick and dirty coverage on an extensive range of topics. I keep it on my desk and use it often to research how illnesses are diagnosed, the signs and symptoms and treatment. 5 stars (CMDT vt Tierney,McPhee and Papadakis) - This is an excellent work which documents nearly 1000 maladies- their essential manifestations, general considerations, prognosis,clinical findings, the differential diagnosis and treatment. The work would be valuable so that the physician does not omit any important elements of the overall treatment plan. Optimal drug doses are cited together with annotated references, a general approach to the patient and common symptomatology. Surgical risk factors are outlined in considerable detail. The acquisition would be an important part of any personal medical library. The authors provide a current rendition with brand new references, up-to-date treatments/methods and medical technology. ...

The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy- 17th Edition

5 stars (Purchase of Merck Manual) - Ordered online with no problems. Confirmation received. Book arrived within 2 weeks. 5 stars (The Merck Manual of Diagnosis and Therapy) - This is a very nice edition all sections clearly marked easily to follow index at the back.Also with this edition is a copy of the 1899 edition very interesting.The Merck is always a useful reference book. 5 stars (Here's what I think...) - A great medical reference book that has been around forever. Probably more for medical professionals than the lay person though. Also recommend "The No-Beach, No-Zone, No-Nonsense Weight Loss Plan, A Pocket Guide To What Works" for evidenced-based guidelines on weight loss. ...

Goodman - Gilman-s The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics

4 stars (Just a good book..) - This book is a good one, but has one little problem, the book doesn't have much coherence because there are too many people writting the book. You can note the difference of redaction between the chapters because were written for different person and that's what make the book very difficult to read, because one chapters are good, but others are very bad. I prefer a book written by a few person because are much clear. 5 stars (Clarification about the edition) - This is the 10th edition, published in 2001. Not quite as 'out-of-date' as suggested by the previous reviewer. It is, however, dificult to keep these texts current. 4 stars (Good....but out of date!) - "Goodman & Gilman" has been the staple of pharmacology for many years, and with good reason. While I agree with the other reviewers that it is the gold standard, in the "old days" the book was updated about every 5 years, and this one came out in 1996. Given that the book probably took a couple of years to revise, the information is close to 10 years out of date! As is stated in the Notice on p. xviii, "Medicine is an ever-changing science." I have been waiting for the 10th Edition for some time now...! ...

Chinese Herbal Medicine- Materia Medica- Third Edition

5 stars (The Chinese medicinal products bible - required reading) - At last, Bensky et al. third edition is finally out and what a vast source of knowledge it is. For anyone using Chinese medicinal products, this really is your bible. Massively expanded from the 2nd edition, there are hundreds more many medicinal products included. Wonderfully categorised, excellently explained, beautifully illustrated and well indexed, this text allows all readers to easily source detailed information on hundred of medicinal products used in Chinese medicine. Required reading for all Chinese medicine doctors and those wanting to learn more about Chinese medicinal products. Can't wait for Bensky et al. `Formulas and Strategies' 2nd edition! ...
