The Sims 2

5 stars (Simsational!) - In truth, The Sims 2 is the best PC game ever. I was a HUGE fan of the original Sims, and it was my favorite game for quite awhile. However, I recently aquired The Sims 2 , and I must say, I was so excited over it I couldn't sleep. It is a grand improvement over the original, and it opened my eyes to the number of flaws that the first Sims game had. Quite honestly, I don't know if I'll ever be able to play it again. Here are just a few of the high points: ~In The Sims 2 , players have an incredibly large, extensive amount of features, clothes, hairstyles, etc. to choose from when they create their Sim. I'm not even going to compare it to the original because, well, it just doesn't compare! ~The addition of family trees and life cycles was what excited me most about this game, and quite frankly, it is the one thing that makes this game totally worth your money, in my opinion. Sims now age from baby to toddler to kid to teen to adult to elder, where they will eventually pass on to to old age, depending on there aspiration level. It's a great joy to see your Sims start out as babies and end up as successful, married adults, and I was just as proud of my Sims as I would be with my own child...not that I would know anything about that. ~Aspirations and fears give the game a whole new meaning. Your Sims can have one of five different aspirations: Wealth, Romance, Family, Knowledge, and Popularity. Depending on which of these your Sim has, they will have different lifetime hopes and fears, which change periodically. When an aspiration is realized, Sims gain reward points that they can use to buy cool things; when a fear is realized, however, Sims lose reward points. ~The Build/Buy options are FAR more improved. Now you can make homes that have more than three stories, change the appearance of that ugly blue bed, create mountains, lakes, whatever! ~The neighborhood options are different too. Choose from playing in Pleasantview,...

The Sims 2- Nightlife Expansion Pack

5 stars (Awesome!) - This game is the best of the best. There are many new objects and activities; too many to list. Between driving their own car and bowling, there is not enough hours in the day for my sims to maintain relationships or work. LOL! The best part is the increased control over your date when you are out together. This is a must-have game for anyone who loves the sims! 5 stars (OMGOMGOMG!!!~shauna~) - im not really under 13 but ya. okay i just got the sims 2 nightlife a week ago and it's been awesome. some people were saying that it was lame, really slow, and had lots of bugs. i was wondering whether or not i should install it, because my computer is already slow at loading the game, i don't want to make it even SLOWER. but i took the risk and installed it. boy was that a good idea! this game rox my sox! so far, no problems! the game hasn't had any bugs (knocks on wood) and seems to even LOAD faster (knocks on wood again). okay well lemme tell u bout some of the awesome features! they have cars! sure there's only five different cars to chose from (a crappy small one, a truck, a mini van, a sports car, and a compact), but the paint jobs make it all worth it! they have awesome paint jobs too, or in my opinion anyways ;). uhhhhhh, the new clothes. if there's a part of expansions i look most forward to, it has to be the clothes. the adult girls have the best selection. they are suhweet! really awesome dresses. there is some gay-ish clothes for the guys, tho. like electric colored vests.. kinda weird :D. the fact that they can have dates! i made two people, and had them go on dates, and now they're married! they've already gone on 4 or 5 dates, and all of them have been dream dates too, which is awesome. they have some really funny options when you're dining out: play: throw food, steal a bite Flirt: feed a bite, caress hand Kiss: blow a kiss... if you're in a booth: those plus Hot Kiss, and Love Talk. there's lots more things...

The Sims 2 University Expansion Pack

5 stars (A great addition to the Sims 2!) - I was not very excited when I bought this game, but now I see that I should have been. The Sims 2 University is great! There are lots of new things you can do with your sims. So here are the pros and cons: Pros 1. Having been playing this game for about 3 months, I haven't noticed any glitches other than the usual Sims 2 glitches (freezing, etc.) 2. Sending your sims to college is surprisingly easy. As long as they have some skills that they have built from childhood, they progress rapidly through the eight semesters. Once they graduate, it is much easier to get them good jobs and thus you are much more able to fulfill their aspirations. 3. Your sims now have "Lifetime Aspirations". These aspirations are linked to their normal aspirations (Family, Knowledge, etc.) and are usually quite difficult to fulfill. For example, a family lifetime aspiration might be "Have six children get married" and a knowledge lifetime aspiration might be "Max out 6 skills". These aspirations are difficult, but add more interest to the game, so that all your knowledge sims, for instance, don't have the exact same lives. Once you have achieved the lifetime aspiration, your sim remains on platinum aspiration for the rest of his/her lifetime. (You can still earn aspiration points, though.) 4. There are lots of new objects, including the instruments (guitar, bass, drum kit, etc.) and a few extra rewards such as the plastic surgery kit and the cash machine. Cons 1. Sending your sims to college is fun, but it takes quite a long time for them to graduate. While it's not very difficult for them to pass all their tests, it is time consuming. 2. I was disappointed to learn that the NPC's still don't grow up with your sims. (I'm quite tired of having all my teenage sims fall in love with the same boys who will never grow up. Peter Pan, anyone?) 3. Your sims cannot join a band, but if you have more than one instrument you can ask another sim to "Join" and...

The Sims 2 Special DVD Edition

2 stars (Eh.) - Sure, the graphics are good, if you can get them loaded in a timely manner. And yeah it's neat how you can customize some more, but as you try to adjust the facial features, etc. it distorts the image even moe so you really don't know what the final result will be. And having to control everything and I do mean EVERYTHING in the game is annoying. I fine to work for goals and things like that, that was part of the fun for me with The Sims, but you're basically running the software yourself and it takes away fromt he gaming experience. Give it a shot if you want, but if I had known this stuff from the beginning I would have saved my money. 4 stars (Most addictive Game Ever!) - I never played the original Sims game. In fact, I'm normally an action or role playing game player, but something about this game from the time I first saw it advertised captured me and nagged at the back of my mind until I finally bought it earlier this year. I'm still hooked on it and its expansion packs. Though I still play the other genres, I find I still absolutely have to make time for this one. The initial objects and clothing items are limited, but the customization abilities of the game more than make up for that! There's plenty of skilled people out there who put their work on the web for download, some of it for free. I like the sims resource site, myself. Finding modest clothing, particularly modest swimwear for female sims can be a challenge, though again, the customization abilities of the game are such that even I, someone with no artistic talent, was able to create some custom clothing to get around that. Some people have criticized this game for the ability to turn off the blurring of sims who are not clothed (taking shower, etc.) As I understand it, you have to download and activate a cheat to do so. I have not done so since that blurring doesn't bother me. There is one glitch in the game that I've found related to this though. There have been times w...

The Sims 2 Mac

5 stars (joy of joys) - I've played The Sims 2 on the PC and, as a fan of The Sims and a Mac user, I must say that The Sims 2 for MacOS has certainly met if not exceeded my expectations. I was a bit concerned about whether or not my iBook G4 would be able to handle the game (especially after reading about the problems other Mac, but even with 8 sims on a lot at once (using fairly moderate settings -- medium quality for all but the actual sims and objects), the game has yet to crash. My only complaint is that the custom content I import to Body Shop never seems to show up correctly... 5 stars (Beats Barbie) - My 13 year old plays this game and has now taken an interest in learning photoshop and illustrator so she can design the clothes. This is much cheaper than shopping and provides the same fix. Our favorite part is the Martha Stewart TV show where Martha burns down the house. This game is a perfect fit for the GW Bush era. All the Sims are blathering idiots. I would like to know what cultural critics around the world think of this game. 4 stars (is this the best game?) - i think this is the best game not only because you control the sims life but you get to chose what they look like what they wear and what they like. the building tools enable you to build elaberate houses. This game in some ways lets you express your imagition on how you like things to be done. i think this is great game! ...

XB The Sims 2

3 stars (Okay) - this game is okay and there are a few things missing:no babies or TODDLER!no aging,no 2 story house, and NO swimming pool! some new features or something new:jackets, undershirt(sweet!)new clothes, diffrnt hair colors(kool!) a surf thingy. i want EA games make the organial game on XBOX and have new items and new features!well i hope EA games will pay attention! 3 stars (A step back from Bustin' Out) - Instead of writing a complete review, I'll just add to what reviewer Nicholas J Verboon wrote and go from there. Since that review point out most of the good points for the game, I'll tell you what bothered me the most. First of all, I miss the "water tool" to create swimming pools, rivers, and all of those water bodies. The new two-player interface doesn't split your screen diagonally anymore, now it splits it horizontally. It doesn't take much to get use to it, but I feel that there is a little less field of view than before. Also, the tip bubbles that appear intermitently and perhaps too many times, obscure the time of day and other important information. Also, when a thief gets in your home and you were sleeping and in fast-forward time, the time doesn't slow down like before, now it keeps going and the thief most likely, even if you have your place filled with burglar alarms, would steal something. The police rarely arrives in time. More than once I found out that I was robbed the next morning after I couldn't find my refrigerator, even as I have 2 alarms outside, 2 inside, and one on each side of the lot next to the main neigborhood sidewalk. The items you can buy are of less appeal that those in previous games, it's almost as if EA just leave in mostly the essentials. You may know by now that unlike the way better PC version you can't build 2 stories houses. Also, you can't buy endless quantities of items since there is something called "the fire code" that limits you on this. So your dream house may be limited for what you are allowed to build, bu...

PS2 The Sims 2

4 stars (stands on its own two feet) - As someone who recently purchased the Sims 2 on Amazon, and has played it and some of the older PC and console versions, I have to say I think this game is pretty darn good. I recognize that in comparison to Sims 2 for PC, it has some limitations- but what else could you expect? Consoles ARE limited, but considering the game was originally designed for a completely different medium, I think it is very successful it its own right, and frankly, a lot of fun to play. The game playing is far more textured and rich than "Bustin' Out" or "The Urbz". First of all, the creation of a greater motivating force, whether creative, social, etc., adds a whole new dimension to Sims and their relationships. Whereas in the past, a series of actions always created the same result, now players will find that their Sims, no matter how 'correctly' guided, will be rejected by loved ones, paint horrible portraits, or make inedible meals that make other Sims grumpy. Conversely, you may find your Sim succeeding easily or becoming popular with hardly any effort. Such is the nature of Sims 2. I have never been a Sims player that found the fashion, decorating, or building aspects of the game to be tantamount to goal-achieving, but the new game has more objects with lots of different interactions, a clothes option menu that is sure to absorb hours of your attention, and plenty of new building options. I could see how building houses or changing clothes endlessly would lead to some repeats, but achieving success for your Sim will definitely prove interesting enough to make up for it. I think, overall, this game is worth the price tag. Diehard Simmers who scrutinize every aspect of the game, and compare it to the PC version, are bound to be a little disappointed. But as someone who eagerly anticipated the arrival of the Sims 2 for Ps2 (meaning, was on the waiting list for a month!), I can say with total enthusiasm that this is a game you, your kids, or you...

Gamecube - The Sims 2

1 stars (Stick with the computer version) - OK. I will be blunt. This version of Sims 2 stinks!!!! It is nothing like the pc version. I was expecting mutli-level homes & such, but no. If you are a fan of the Sims games, invest your hard earned Simoleans on the computer version of this game. If you already bought this game, I am sorry. See if you can sell it online or take it to one of those game stores that buy games back for cash or store credit. You won't get what you paid for it, but at least you'll get something. 4 stars (matt review) - its sucks for gamecube the gamecube copies ps2 games thtatts why and i like ps2 5 stars (Do not spend your money on this weak sims game) - Okay when you get into the game you like the 3-D graphics and all that. Well the first thing is you need a memory card 1 and 147 blocks. Then you realize you do everything you do in just about any other sims game. Positives- You can get married,Abducted by aliens, slapped with a fish, have fun when your married like cuddle and woohoo and be a ghost and scare, possess, vomit,or wail at people, move your charectar without stick, make your own, kill someone,go places, fashion, acsseriores, tatoos, create an alien, have alien furniture, new and cool items in the catalog. Negatives- No kids, you can't get pregant, you can't go to work with yor sims, all items in catalog a the same, and things like that. There are alot things wrong with this game so i'm tellin you to stick with the pc version. ...
