The Plane Truth for Golfers

5 stars ( The Plane Truth for Golfers ) - Excellent, straight forward, presented in simple logical terms and concepts. A valuable book for anyone who wants to learn more about the golf swing. 5 stars (the plane truth for golfers) - Frustrated with my lack of distance (age 75) signed-up for the one-olane swing and am really surprised at the results. Try it - you'll like it.. 5 stars (Destined to be a Classic Instructional Book) - Finally, someone has cleared the "instructional" air to enable golfers (especially those that are golf magazine and Golf Channel addicts) to recognize which tips apply to them. Also, it's refreshing to see an instructor of Mr Hardy's caliber come out so strongly in favor of a swing type (the 1 plane swing) that the general golf community has been led to believe (by TV analysts and other highly recognized swing gurus) was inferior. This book did a good job of giving the reader a "side by side" comparison between the 1-plane and 2-plane swings. Although it's probably more suited for a 1-plane swinger, at the very least it enables a 2-plane swinger to understand he's a 2-plane swinger and heed advice accordingly. ...

Search for the Perfect Swing- The Proven Scientific Approach to Fundamentally Improving Your Game

3 stars (Old and dated) - This book has some good information but was in its prime in the 70's. Golf equipment and materials have changed so much in the last 10 years that the wooden drivers and crude cast irons in this book aren't too relevant to modern equipment. The theory discussed in the book is good but dated. 5 stars (My Favorite Book) - This is my favorite book of all time: a wonderful model of the golf swing that has not been surpassed since its original publication in the early 1970's. Think of all the enduring golf ideas that have followed from this book: the heel-sole weighted putter and club, the importance of the left side guiding the swing, the swing plane and curve of the golf ball, the importance of different shots, the kinetic chain for power, aim and stroke in putting, ... All current teaching and golf science started right here. It is silly to play golf without fully understanding this book. 3 stars (lots of info , but you need a Phd to pu it to good use.) - it was a dry read with many "big" words,. I think that with someone who understand it, it would be a great help. ...

The Only Golf Lesson You-ll Ever Need- Easy Solutions to Problem Golf Swings

5 stars (Best Golf Lesson Ever) - Tiger Woods picked the right guy -- I am a 7 handicap and this is the best golf instruction book I have ever read (Nicklaus, Hogan, Woods, Watson, Harmon, Penick, Couples, Floyd, etc.). The one-plane angle concept is so technically sound and the only golf-aid you need to dramatically improve your swing is a mirror. Excellent pictures help capture exactly what Hank is explaining. At any level, this book is a cornerstone for building a bomb-proof golf swing. Most importantly, hit good shots and enjoy it -- instead of going to find it :)! 1 stars (Re: "Good Idea - Bad Execution's" review of May 29, 1999) - I agree with everything you said! I would like to confirm that the writing and/or editing needs improvement at the very least. I was irritated by the confusing phrases and clauses, and poor punctuation. It's hard to make any sense of what he's talking about (sorry). And thank God I didn't pay full price; I borrowed it from the local library and took it back. 5 stars (the only golf lesson you'll ever need) - I have read many golf instruction books but this one by Hank Haney has to be one of the best. The photographs are very good and illustrate the principles discussed extremely well.I finally found a swing thought that controls my reverse pivot problem that often ruins my drive. The grip and alignment advice helped greatly the first time I went out on the course. If you only read one book on golf instruction, this is the one to buy. ...

The Keys to the Effortless Golf Swing- Curing Your Hit Impulse in Seven Simple Lessons

5 stars (Lighthouse Turn Eliminates Paralysis By Analysis) - For 13 years, I struggled with every "swing thought" imaginable. Finally I had this book recommended to me as a very simple way to train your swing. More importantly, it was one you could practice without having to hit balls initially. Its critical points have helped ease tension and facilitates a smooth weight shift and now I am swinging through the ball rather than hitting at the ball. Golf is more enjoyable and I only wish I had this book 12 years ago. 5 stars (Highly Recommended!) - I have been golfing for about 1 year. As a beginner this book helped me immensely! Don't expect to just read through it and improve though. I would suggest holding off on the driving range while you dedicate yourself to doing the exercises he suggests over & over again until you know exactly what you should be "feeling" during the exercises (weight transfer, are your elbows where they are supposed to be etc....) This book suggests that you should not be trying to hit the ball but rather teaching your body to swing the club the exact same way every time which obviously builds consistency (something we could all use more of) It is a very quick read but don't read it too fast. Let the concepts sink in by reading important points several times. 5 stars (A good swing after 25 years!) - I have been trying to play golf for 25 years, managed to join a club for a couple of years and played every week. I always had one major problem that really took the fun out of the game - I would often top or fluff the ball, even when my game was going relatively well. At the start of this year I hit a 117, I was so embarrassed, it was either give up or make a change, I bought this book. I have had numerous lessons and not one of them spotted that I was starting my downswing with my arms - a fatal flaw. I managed to get down to a 24 handicap before reading this book, but in the last few months I have been amazing my golf friends, hit my firs...

Understanding the Golf Swing

5 stars (An Absolute Must have for all....) - This book has worked wonders for my game. I have studied it from end to end. My game prior to this book was a patchwork of misinformation. Even at a 10 handicap (hit my limit) the concepts were so simple that I reduced my handicap to a 1 as a direct result of this book. I don't no why so many keep mentioning Hogan's book. Hogan's work did more to hurt more golfers then it helped! This is the book folks to learn the golf swing! If you enjoy reading about mechanics then do so but don't be surprised if your game does not improve or you hit the ceiling and don't progress any further! Drop the technical jargon and get back to doing whats right. You want to be a good golfer not a biomechanical engineer!Take it from a duffer who after 3 years reached a single diget handicap! My only regret is not coming across this book when I started out!!!! Duffers & Pro's take heed....let Manuel show you the way! Also a big Thank You to Mr. Torre your work made all the diffrence in my game and how I approach it! Also the book "The Sweetest Game" confirms Manuel's theories! You maybe a little surprised how many greats in golf unknowingly used this approach to golf! 5 stars (Follow the Club head) - I have about 30 golf instruction books. Of those, I found Hogan's Five lessons (Modern Fundamentals of Golf) to be the standard I adhered to. But my game hit a plateau and just remained there. Then I read Ernest Jones' Sing the Clubhead (wow!). I found out that Manuel De La Torre taught Jones' method with a few minor adjustments. Bought " Understanding the Golf Swing " book & DVD. It's amazing I just swing the club and strike the ball without worrying about the mechanics of the swing. It's now my golf bible, knocking strokes off my game evey time I play. Even though the method is simple, you need to read the book several times and do likewize with the DVD as there are little things you will overlook the first few times. Don't pass it off as...

Tour Tempo- Golf-s Last Secret Finally Revealed

1 stars (What a Crock) - Absolutely the worst. 2/3 of the "MINI SIZE BOOK" is devoted to the subject that no one teaches TEMPO. No kidding. The other third is back to basics with the triangle take away of hands arms and shoulder-- TEMPO? and then a CD that makes you swing as if you were on speed with beep, beep, beep, sounds. What a waste of money. 5 stars (Tour Tempo helped my game) - It is well researched and easy to grasp the concept. I downloaded the CD (comes with the book) to my iPod and took it to the range, and listened in the car on the way. The tempo feels fast on the backswing, but I believe that is the key. Less time spent on the backswing forces me to take the club back on plane with less extraneous hip/knee/elbow/wrist movement. e.g. Less to go wrong. I am a 16 handicap. I normally hit my 7 iron about 155 yards, but today I hit my 7 iron 175 yards, over the back of the green. It took me a few holes to dial in my yardages, but by the end of the round I had it going and was 1 over for the final 6 holes. Are you ready to strike the ball more consistently and get yardages like what we see from the PGA pros?? Then buy Tour Tempo, it is the real deal. 5 stars (This is a univeral truth) - The "tempo" is real. Hundreds of touring pros have been measured, "timed", and they are all one of three to four swing tempos...we're talking parts of seconds here. Almost all amateurs swing too slow...learn the "tour tempo" that fits you and you will hit the ball longer and straighter and more constently....PERIOD. ...

Mac OS X 10 4 Tiger DVD

5 stars (Sleek Tiger) - The finest OS to date. I was haapy with Paanthere, but Tiger is a steop above. 5 stars (From PC to Mac forever, this OS is amazing.) - I have used Windows for years and used a Mac at my work, I always liked the way the Mac handled graphics and also appreciated their ease of use. Mac OS X is so simple to use compared to Windows XP, it is by far the best OS I have ever used. I have not run into one single glitch, my powerbook has not crashed on me once. It had crashed on me a few times with OS 9, but this one seems to be a lot more stable. I like the dashboard also, you can quickly check the weather, stocks, dictionary or calendar all with a push of a button and built into the OS. You can also download many others for free from the Apple website. Itunes is a great application also and it is something I use all day long. Safari is far more superior in just about every-way compared to Microsoft Explorer, in fact it would take to long to list the benefits. I also liked the ability to run OS 9 in classic mode, so you can keep all your older software and still use them within OS X. If you are sick and tired of the Windows fatal exception errors or sending Windows error reports, then buy yourself an Apple and enjoy stress free living with OS X. 1 stars (Stick with Panther) - I get the spinning beachball and Microsoft Office application crashes about as often as I did in 10.1! I reformatted my hard disk and reinstalled Panther after trying the 10.4.1 and 10.4.2 updates. For my needs Panther (10.3.8+) is a much more robust and stable operating system. ...

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Upgrade with Service Pack 2

1 stars (stupid and ridiculous) - why? cause it chokes up PROCESSING and RAM that's why! its full of bugs and freezes frequently. [...] if you want stability get win2000. its ridiculous how they keep releasing new operating systems every year. XP = Xtra Problem. 5 stars (WindowsXPHomeSP2) - I had WindowsME, but something went wrong with my computer and it wasn't recognizing drivers for stuff so I got XP and that fixed all that because XP has all the drivers you need already included in it. 4 stars (No Surprises) - Upgraded from Win 98 on laptop with no problems except for conflict with wireless module. ...
