2 stars (Wicom SuperPen pro) - I am really disappointed with the item. The wireless feature is NOT really wireless. You can only beam about 10 -20 words via infrared. With all the new technology it is way behind the consumer expectations that you still have to use a cable to transfer data. I can not see that it would take that much to fix the problem, so the enduser will be able to use the infrared for data transfers. I wonder if they never heard about bluetooth technology either. It takes some time to get used to the pen, scanner recognition is about 80% ok. IF YOU SCAN REALLY SLOW! For that the company calls them self "world leader in personal, portable scanning pens" I think that there is a lot of room for the competition to the real leader!!!!!!!!!!! 3 stars (just alright) - this is a good item if you have poor handwriting but take notes from books. Some what difficutlt to operate initially but with practice is helpful if you like to keep track of small passages. Is it worth it. depends on how much you use it. 5 stars (great scanning, good IR connectivity) - I've had it for a day and have not even attempted to connect via cable to the PC. BTW, the unit came with serial cable, and Wizcom is sending a USB cable for free. I am hapy with IR. I beam scanned text to my PDA and the PC. I can also receive text files from the PDA and the PC. It has two main functions Dictionary/Thesaurus and scanning text to be trasfered. I bought it primarily for the first option and i order to hear pronunciation of and meaning of words I do not recongize. Its speaker is not too loud, so you need to bring it closer to the ear, but it has regular L/R earbuds with volume. I set the options to automatically pronounce a word after I scan it and show definitions. Medical, Computer, Wall Street, etc dictionaries are alredy pre-loaded. ResumeMaker Career Edition

3 stars (Dissapointed with the Resume Maker Software) - I recently purchased this software from Amazon, and I've been experiencing technical problems from the moment it was installed on my computer. I am using the program at work, on my brand new Dell system, and it just won't act right! The print preview function creates error messages, and when I printed my resume the software placed weired lines and boxes on my resume. I've contacted tech support, and they are unsure as to what the problem might be. They've asked me to switch printers, remove the software, and then install the software. We've been going back and forth for about 2 weeks. I've used a previous edition of Resume Maker and I had technical problems with the software, but I assumed it was because my computer was a bit older. As for the content of the software, I do feel that it offers some useful information. You are provided with a resume coach, with tips on the types of resume that may suit you. I'm giving this product 3 stars because of the quality of the software. 2 stars (Disappointed by poor quality software...) - I was very disappointed by this software. Sure it has some good features (that's why I gave 2 instead of 1) but the built in word processor is terrible (Nope, I was not expecting another MS Word but at least expected consistency between various features/parts of the software). One of the supposedly great features of Resumemaker is the ability to preserve some general formatting if you choose to (e.g.) send the resume as plain text (an important thing mind you) in an e-mail. It does so by offering a number of styles for formatting your Resume. For example, for the Summary section, you can choose a bulleted list as formatting style. Resumemaker would create one card for each bullet item you create. If you send the Resume as plain text in an e-mail, Resume maker would format each of these bullet items with a * in front. Wizcom InfoScan IS1000 Pen Scanner

4 stars (Works as billed) - Before I bought this pen I looked at most of the reviews for other hand held scanners on the market. It seems to be the case that either they works or they don't. In my case it seems to work perfect. Well perfect as in about 5 mistakes in about a hundred words, in other words abouth 1 in 20. This actually isn't as bad as it seems and perhaps I expected the worst but I find this quite tolerable and readable. In addition if the reviews I read are correct, there is a slight learning curve so hopefully it will get better. I haven't had a lot of time to play with the software but is seems to work pretty seamlessly in a Win XP box with SP 2 installed. Install the software, plug in the USB cable, plug in the pen and voila it works (actually it didn't work the first time but it turned out that I hadn't pushed the pen side plug in fully, it should click) Overall it works as billed and for $90-$25 rebate = $65 its a bargain in comparison to the c-pens which start at $165 !! The trick now is actually using it. If your interested here is a scan of a paragraph. Its about my third try. Corel Wordperfect Office 12 Standard Upgrade

1 stars (Word is much better!) - Due to my laptop crashing I had to use a rental computer to finish my novel by the deadline. I've used word to write 3 books, magazine articles and numerous academic papers and I've always found it easy to use and understand. Wordperfect is a complete pain, the help file is useless and the text often overlaps and looks like it is a typo which makes editing on the screen a nightmare. It was impossible to instructions of formatting a document for double spacing in the help menu (it only tells you that book reports should be double spaced, but doesn't tell you how to make it do it). I will be glad to get my laptop back and go back to work in Word. 1 stars (could not reliably loads jpegs) - I upgraded from version 8 to version 12 because I could not reliably load jpeg format pictures in v. 8. All jpegs were created using Photoshop 7 but only some random subset of them will load into Wordperfect. I have the same problem with v 12. (Microsoft Word takes all jpegs with no problems.) The same problem exists whether using Windows 98 or Windows 2000 professional so it is not likely the OS. This product is of no use to me; I have again wasted $150 on Corel Wordperfect. However this was their last chance with me. I guess, long live the Microsoft monopoly. 5 stars (The better word processing program) - I don't have much use for anything in the suite except WordPerfect. I've been using WordPerfect since before Windows, when it had a blue or a green screen, displayed mostly ASCII characters, there were no fonts except courier, and laser printers cost a small fortune. I work for a number of attorneys -- WordPerfect is the software of choice for wordprocessing in most offices I've worked in because, in my opinion, it is the better product for the job. 1 stars (Not ready for prime time) - PDFZone.com was right on this product - it is not ready for prime time. Buggy, Help File without an index, and misrepresenting its capabilities. Claims 300% faster than acrobat - but the small print says for 1 specific Word file they tested. For my files it is slower - especially for PowerPoint and Excel. They claim #1 selling, but for their own web site! Rip Off. 5 stars (Fast and Easy and Affordable!) - I work with a small business with very limited funds for computer equipment and software. I would like to sincerely thank you for your outstanding product, my resume is what has gotten me this job. In fact, the managers haven't reviewed my application and one thing that got me the interviews and the job is my resume. Before hand I had no clue how to write a resume, but with the samples and the added advice, I've created a resume that has not only surprised me, but has gotten me a job that will greatly benefit my career. I sincerely thank the professionals of Individual Software for there powerfull, easy to use product. It was well worth the investment, and I will try to convince others the same! 5 stars ( Resume Maker Professional 11 ) - By using the " Resume Maker Professional 11 " I was able to successfully obtain a Federal job that I don't think I could have otherwise obtained. Microsoft Word 2003 Upgrade

5 stars (Justified Upgrade for some, but not all) - Word 2003 is more powerful than ever. Unfortunately, most of the new features are aimed primarily towards large business. As a result, many end-users simply won't need them (or be able to use them). The users who will benefit most from upgrading are corporate users or users purchasing bundles with new PCs. Pros: Instant Messaging support is now integrated with Office applications. However, only MSN messenger is used. Users who predominantly use Yahoo, trillian, jabber, or ICQ will not find any utility in this feature, without signing up for a messenger account. The user interface has changed for the better, and matches the Windows XP interface better. Personally, I like it. Also, fonts are rendered better, and consequently documents will look better on laptops (no more jagged edges). The Reading Layout feature splits the text into a two column format for easier reading (think newspaper). If you have Microsoft Server and SharePoint services installed on your network, you can share and track changes to word documents. Nice feature, but requires a significant investment on server software. When typing an hypertext link, word no longer reformats the font of the URL. Cons: Product activation, which requires network access. All of the Office applications now have a blended help system that first checks help files online first, before getting local help files. XML is useless for end users. Programmers who use Word to write XML will find that Word no longer tries to autocorrect much of the XML, but you will still have the annoying red underline on many of your XML tags because the spellchecker flags them as misspelled. Still, I think it makes a worthy upgrade for 97/2000 users, but XP users will find the expense difficult to justify. More specifically, if you are an end user without a lot of Microsoft back end software installed on your network (Windows 2000/2003 Server, SharePoint services, etc....

5 stars (Another Apple Home Run) - Apple has been releasing great applications for consumers in the past few years with the iLife suite. With iWork, Apple has refocused their efforts on mainstream businesspeople. iWork's word processing program, called Pages, has an interface reminicient of MacWrite Pro, a program that was easy to use yet powerful. However, this program offers much more than MacWrite Pro. It has many great built in templates and is great for desktop publishing as well as simple letter writing. Easier to use than Word, it has nearly as much power in the document department. For publishing, though, this one beats Word in every respect, and is a great alternative for those who don't want to deal with a high end publishing program such as Quark XPress. Like iMovie, professional results can be produced with consumer software. Keynote is far superior to PowerPoint. The PowerPoint templates have been around since 1997 or so, and are starting to get old and boring. Since nobody wants to use hackneyed slides, Keynote offers completely new templates. Like the iLife templates they are very well thought out. QuickTime integration is a real plus. The program itself is easy to use and can be used as a basic drawing program in some respects. This suite is gradually replacing AppleWorks 6, which has not been updated since 2001 and can trace its roots back to ClarisWorks, which debuted in 1991. AppleWorks isn't much more powerful than the original ClarisWorks and is definitely showing its age. The only module that this does not have is a spreadsheet. If you're looking for an Excel replacement here, you're out of luck. Fortunately the Mac version of Excel is quite good. AppleWorks has a spreadsheet but the interface is somewhat old-fashioned. 2 stars (Over-rated product) - Word Menu 2.2 offers quickly accessible words, however the defintions are vague and indirect. Many words you would expect to find are missing, and frankly this is a program that would be most useful for people learning the english language,seeking to understand genres which certain words pertain to. It is my opinion that most english speakers already have a strong grasp on most of these words and subjects they entail; buying this for any trivial benefit of searching words by subjects, is foolhardy. It's not worth 30 dollars, I wish I would not have purchased it and do not reccomend it. If the price was 15 dollars or less, I would suggest "hey why not". $30 is an unreasonable price for this simplistic vocabulary lexicon and is more wisely spent on something else. 4 stars (Good idea, needing attention to basic details.) - This is a very comprehensive resource of categorised words and their meanings, which is easily navigated and understood. Loaded onto a laptop, one has a lot of power easily to hand. The Fractal Browser looks like a good idea and would be a visually attractive feature for school kids. But I would have been happy to ditch this feature in place of having a standard dictionary browsing option outside of the categorised options, and still retain links to the corresponding categories. Another aspect of the Fractal Browser is that the links are images with quite fine text. This doesn't respond to the browser 'Text Size' selector in Explorer. So monitors set at higher resolutions than 800 x 600 will be problematic for users with less than good eyesight. Users of IBM Thinkpads will not be able to get around this. This is also a problem with respect to the category tree. A good product in principle and at a very reasonable price, but falls a little bit short in the overall design, with too much attention to the deluxe features, I think.
