5 stars (GREAT!) - This book is very nice. I am fluent in ASL (American Sign Language) as of now, but that goal was only reached by taking classes at a local community college. The ASL class used this book and with this book, it was so easy to learn ASL! I truly recommend this book for people who want to learn ASL and use it a lot, or for parents who wish to use it with their toddlers (this is very helpful, my mom did it with me when I was little and it helped me later on). 5 stars (The Easy complete way to learn ASL American Sign Language) - This book is clear and concise and guides you through the bare necessities and takes you to a very confident level of understanding American Sign Language. The authors gave much attention to detail and creativity and fun in helping you to learn this beautiful language. ...

5 stars (Great help) - Lots of helpful signs, and it is also nice to see how other babies look when they are signing. 5 stars (Sign with your baby really works!) - I'm amazed at how easy Garcia's materials made it to learn to sign with my infant daughter. It's such a relief to be able to communicate with her and know what she wants without having to guess. Garcia's book and video are very easy to follow and I can't wait to try new signs with her. 5 stars (Wonderful and easy!) - This book is an easy read! I was looking for something that would guide me in teaching my hearing daughter ASL. This book, I feel, helps with the very basic signs that I want to teach her! Plus the DVD is very informative and motivational! I absolutely loved seeing the young children signing! I would recommend! I started teaching my daughter just a couple weeks ago (7 mos). She will be turning eight months in a few weeks and I'm hoping I will see her first sign then! ...

Instant Immersion American Sign Language Deluxe

3 stars (Great Learning Aid/But Slow) - I really enjoy this software. The illustrations are live and that is so much better than the illustrations in the books I have. But the only problem is for example: when you are using the two dictionary disc, after you request a few signs the program starts to get reallllllllll slow. You request a sign for a word and it takes forever to process and load. I bought a laptop specifically for this software so I could travel with it. I thought something was wrong with the laptop so I returned it. I have since loaded this software at work and at home and the same thing happens. You have to shut the program down and start it up again to gain the initial speed. And of course there are eight disc. You can't load but one disc at a time. If they could just fix these two things, this learning tool would be prefect. 4 stars (good sign language aide) - This is a good sign language aide. The software come with eight disks. The first disk is the downloading disk that also contains a n overview as well as the history of sign language. Disk 2 and 3 contains a dictionary of words that are used in sign language. The list is not exhuastive but it is extensive. The words that are in bold are on that disk. The normal font words are on the other disk. Each word comes with a visual representation of the sign. Each word comes with a written description of the sign that explains what the sign is trying to illustrate. Each word comes with a list of alternate and simular words. This is usefull in determining which definition of a word is being used. such as Ball-dance party, or Ball-play object. Unfortunutaley there is no written definiton of the word. The words are listed alphabetically and by catagory. They also have section for games and quizes where you can test your knowledge. Disk 4 contains finger splelling for all of the words in the alphabet. It also contains a discription ofthe grammar and syntax of sign language. Disk 5-8 conntains various f...

1 stars (Watch out not compatible) - I saw nothing on the advertisement from Amazon that this software was old and not compatible with XP. Needless to say I wasted my money because I tried to install it and it bombed out. Amazon's policy is media must be returned unused or unopened. XP has been out for a long time and I don't know how someone can get away with selling old outdated software. I might not buy any software from third parties like Amazon again. I would rather just go to the store so I can check out the packaging and take it back if it does not work. Or I may buy direct from the makers of the software that will tell you any compatibility problems. 1 stars (Program Would Not Fully Install) - I received this program as a gift last year and was never able to load more than the first disk onto my computer. The disk I did load was not very helpful and I did not feel "instantly immersed" in the art of sign language. Don't waste your money on this program. 1 stars (Software no longer supported) - This tutorial may have been state-of-the-art in its day, but it doesn't recognize newer versions of QuickTime, and my attempts to install the QT version on the CD just brought up an "illegal operation" box. After struggling for a whole day at my computer, I was finally able to view the movie clips by downloading an older version, QT 5.0, but the SignLinks tutorial feature still does not work. (...) ...
