Shadowed- The Final Judgment

5 stars (A Call to Courage) - Once again corraling his skills in sci-fi-ish mysteries, Jerry has provided another title with a deeper purpose. That's to cause readers to ask how valuable they regard their faith in the God who's promised to put a punctuation mark on the end of history. Jerry's books are in a league by themselves. Yes, he crafts page-turner novels. But he also forces us to put ourselves in the characters' shoes and ask what we'd do if our lives depended on what we believed as eternally true. ...

Your Best Life Now Journal - A Guide to Reaching Your Full Potential

5 stars (MY DREAM REBIRTHED!) - It has been almost 18 months ago since my dream died in the failure of business. I experience pain in my family financial, attitude problems, marriage issues etc. I have read many inspirational books, listened to hundreds tapes and sermons about visioning and birthing dreams, but only after I read Joel's book, my dream is no longer a dream anymore! I keep thanking God for creating a person like Joel Osteen, and chose Victoria for his companion. I bless God for what He has done to Joel and Victoria for my examples of life. I start doing Joel's advise and it works! Now I enjoy the growth my business in my balley, and about to launch it after it reachs 9 months pregnancy in January. I will keep you in touch by then, so you will know how this book has benefited me to life. God bless you. 5 stars (Study Guide) - This is a great way to supplement the information in the book. It helps bring it all into perspective and apply it to your life. 2 stars (your better life now) - i bought the book, cause i thought i'd find in it the suday morning messages of Joel Osteen; however it's not that. I am trying to saythe book is not good, but me, i needed the Sunday messages instead. ...

The Chronicles of Narnia Adult CD Box Set CHRON NARNIA

5 stars (Great Reading and Great Readers) - This is a wonderful set for the whole family. We have enjoyed each book, read by different people, very much. Where we live, we must drive quite often, so the children and I are enjoying each story and the various readers, who lend their talents to each tale. 5 stars (Incredible) - Such a wonderful series of books. Great reading (listening) for any age. Takes you right into the tale C S Lewis has created. I recommend this series to everyone. 5 stars (Wonderful readings for kids and adults) - The reading of a book is really a performance, and this set includes many great ones. A look at the list of readers will tell you all you need to know about the quality. They do justice to a great story. ...

The Chronicles of Narnia

1 stars (Don't be so silly) - This book is silly. Fancy positing the idea that a lion rules the land. It's almost as silly as this book I read the other day about a man who does magic tricks and then people get suspicious of him so they kill him but then he comes back as a zombie, a nice zombie, he doesn't eat brains or anything and then he flies off home. The lion in this story has been compared to him I believe... 5 stars (Good clean fun!) - I enjoyed the stories again after 30 years between the first read. 4 stars (Fantasy for Children at it's best!) - I wanted to purchase the Chronicles not because of the upcoming film series (Come On, you know Disney will #$@? it up)...but to read to my child. Reading them again to him has shown me just how deceptively complex the stories are; and what is amazing is how moral and civil lessons, in true Christian sense, are taught and exemplified by the children's adventures: Most importantly is the ideal of forgiveness; which is the core of Christianity but which seems to have been forgotten, particularly by the right-wing lunatics who I am appalled by hearing themselves called Christians...children of Mammon, perhaps, but Christians? Riiiight. Anyway, this edition is wonderful, I gave it four out of five stars for one flaw, which is the type-setting. It seems alot of the page-breaks were left in, resulting in one sentence being cut almost half a page early, and continued below it, as well as a few words which are still hyphenated but shouldn't be as they are in the midst of a line, and not the end of the margins. Nonetheless, the binding is great, sturdy and heavy, which has not been the case with all my hard-bound books of late. This is definately a volume I would recommend, and excellent to keep for the grandchildren and so forth, on your best shelf. It is nice that it contains all of the original art, and the stories are placed in the order the author intended. Fantastic. ...

The Chronicles of Narnia CD Box Set Narnia

5 stars (The Complete Chronicles of Narnia) - What a way to lose oneself! I felt like a kid again while reading and completely got caught up in all of the adventure and excitement of Narnia. I look forward to sharing these stories with my kids when they get a little bit older. 4 stars (Excellent entertainment for all ages) - I purchased this set for my 10 yr old grandson and just had to read them first. Am so glad I did. The books kept me enthralled one after the other. I cannot wait for my grandson to read them now so that we can share the fun. These books stretch the imagination and they have under-lying morals and good attitudes as well. I highly recommend them to all. 5 stars (Complete Chronicles of Narnia) - Seven books by C.S. Age of Empires 2 Gold

5 stars (I still love it after all these years... if you own a computer, you NEED this game.) - Age of Empires 2 was the first game I ever got for my computer. It was six years ago, I was ten. It... blew my mind, it was so amazing. I did all the campaigns, it took me about a year on again off again to beat all of them, but hey, I was ten. So then I started working on the 'random maps' in the game. The regular ones were fun, wether one-on-one, eight people in a free-for-all, or balanced teams, it was amazing. The replayability just took me aback. Deathmatches offered almost instant action, giving players hoards of rescources, allowing them to concentrate on militarisation rahter than their economy. But my favourite type of game was Regicide. Each player gets a King and a Castle at the beginning, and you're defeated once your King dies. This beacame a game of cat-and-mouse, building castles wherever I could and always moving the King, trying to protect his royal [if inept] majesty from hoards of bloodthirsty enemies all vying to deliver his crown to their own soverign. All marvelous fun. And I haven't even begun to comment on the system itself. Each of the four ages, dark, feudal, castle, and imperial, represent disticnt points in history. For example, cavalry is not available in the Dark age, and only weak scouts in the Feudal age. The Castle age brings with it heavily armoured knights, as well as horse archers to harass enemy villagers and cripple their economies. And this is just cavalry. Archers, infantry, and siege weapons evolve dramatically as you progress, from rag-tag Militia wielding simple clubs, to the menacing Champions armed with monstrous two-handed swords, and this is just Infantry. Also, each of the 13 civilizations has its own benefits, such as the Turks' cheaper gunpowder units or the Fraknish bonuses to knight hitpoints. In addition, each civilization gets one [some even get two] unique units, which only they can produce. The By...

The Matrix Online

4 stars (If you're a Matrix fan, this might be for you. Otherwise....) - If you're a fan of the Matrix, you'll appreciate that this game is about as close as we can come to bringing the movie to life. Hundreds or thousands of people, all connected to the same virtual environment - in essence, "jacked in" to the Matrix. Without going into enormous detail, let me just say that the world of the Matrix is huge and there are many, many different things to do and explore. The system of movement and (especially) combat is difficult at first, but after a period of adjustment, it becomes very easy to operate. The best part is that you can participate in the continuation of the Matrix story. If you didn't find enough resolution at the end of the third movie, this is your chance to find out what happens next. Now for the bad news. The MegaCity in the Matrix is rampant with street gangs. At first, ALL of them are tougher than you. This tends to restrict the areas you have access to. As you progress in the game, you earn experience points which will eventually raise your character to a higher level (you start at level 1 and max out at level 50). The higher your level, the tougher your character. This isn't really the bad news. The bad news is the incredible amount of time it takes to raise your levels. They go quickly at first, but soon it takes several hours of committed gameplay to raise yourself even one level. That in itself wouldn't be such a problem, but you can't really participate in the major live events unless you attain a very high level. THE BOTTOM LINE: The game will be a rewarding experience to fans of the Matrix who won't mind the level of commitment required to progress in the game. Those who don't care about the story of the Matrix are likely to become frustrated early on. However, if you're curious about the game, it's only $30 and that comes with a free month of gameplay. A month is plenty of time to find out whether or not you're willing to pay $15 ...

Galactic Civilizations Deluxe

5 stars (Strategy Game Star Trek) - Here is a simple galactic conquest stategy game that allows you to play in spurts if you can tear yourself away from it. It's just complex enough to allow you to become immursed in it. The AI is intelligent enough to provide a challenge. 1 stars (Terrible AI won't even bother to attack you) - Galactic Civilizations is the junk food of 4x games. It's filling and comfortably familar, but after awhile you realize it's making you sick. It's basically what you would expect if you took every successful 4x game and merged them together, but with no regards for balance or gameplay. The feature list looks impressive, until you realize half the features are broken or unbalanced. Here's a sample game I played once I realized how broken things were: Normal difficulty/Small Map Right away I colonized 2 systems. I did nothing except change research, occasionally build a building, and hit next turn. I did not build any attack/defense ships. This went on until near the end of the research tree(!), when finally the AI attacked. I built ships to defend, but I was overwhelmed as you would expect. Then they ground invaded. Carrier of 5 million lost for them, killed 3 million of mine, repeat. Sounds bad since I only had 2 planets, right? Well unfortunately the pop of my planet they were invading was 100 billion. They couldn't conceiveably wipe me out since they couldn't make transports fast enough. Why are transports "used up" when you attack anyway? So after a few hundred attempts they seemed to give up then space sharks were randomly spawned. Since I had no ships they didn't attack me, and instead wiped out both the remaining ai player's fleets. I couldn't invade for the same reasons they couldn't invade me though, so I just waited to see what would happen. Eventually I was given one of the AI's systems. Turns out I had set some money in "destabilize" a few dozen turns ago. I pumped up the amount of money i was spending on it, to ...

Ylesia Star Wars- The New Jedi Order

1 stars (Don't waste your money) - This e-book is only 90 pages. Yet it costs as much as a real book. It adds nothing to the storyline. Don't waste your money. Skip this one. 1 stars (Ebook Scam) - Of the whole series in the New Jedi Order, this book is the most worthless. Nothing happens of any significance, the characters do nothing, the Vong do nothing. Nothing, Nothing, nothing...and what do you expect from somthing 90 pages long. It takes longer to find the book in the online store than it does to read it. They call it a book, but its just a SHORT STORY. I recommend--DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Go to the next REAL book in the series. 4 stars (Carppy service from Amazon!) - I am very unimpressed with the service provided by Amazon regading the sale and distribution of this ebook. I was neaver able to download the book even thoughI paided for it. I spent hours trying to configure my Adobe 6, Netscape, Explorer, Safari and OS 10 to enable my computer to download this ebook. Amazon said " We only mae the ebook available. It's your problem to figure out a way to download it." Return To Mysterious Island

4 stars (Captivating...even if too short) - This game held my interest. Some of the puzzles are complicated. I don't even know how I completed one. I was just guessing and clicking. I was very shocked when the game ended. It is a very short game. It held my interest and I thought about the combinations I could try even when I wasn't playing! My 9 year old is playing it. It should have a rating in between T and E. The violence is minimal at the most. 4 stars (Return to Mysterious Island) - I thought this was a interesting game with some real twist, figuring out how to make all the weapons was a real challange. 5 stars (One of the best out there) - Though not as grand as Syberia 2, or as visually stunning as Myst 4, this is one of the best games I've ever played. The story is intriqueing, the interface is simple and the item collection and assembly is a joy. My only complaint is that it seems too short. A bargain at twice the price. ...

Eldest

4 stars (An adequate sequel to 'Eragon,' yet moderately flawed) - One of the most compelling aspects of the Inheritance series stems from the fact that it belongs to the young adult/teen fiction genre and owes its existence to an author who started the series as a teen, and currently has two bestselling books under his belt as a young adult. A high school graduate at age 15, this author, Christopher Paolini, has some impressive credentials on his resume, and it is obvious that his inspiration for writing was driven by a penchant for fantasy/adventure-type fiction. In a sense, this actually makes reading these books just as drivingly forceful as it enables the reader to explore the world of literature as told from the perspective of one who has lived less than thirty years. ` Eldest ' (book two in the series) can be broken down into two storylines. The first storyline has our heros, Eragon and Saphira, sent to the land of elves known as Ellesmera, where Eragon must complete his Dragon Rider training. This training will become useful later as they must confront evil forces that threaten the peaceful atmosphere of Alagaesia. The second storyline focuses on Eragon's cousin, Roran. Back at their home in Carvahall, the village is threatened by the infestation of Ra-zac, and it is up to Roran to lead the denizens to freedom as he strives to rescue his love interest Katrina who is being held captive. To do that, however, he will need the assistance of Eragon. The result is a clash of opposing forces between the dragon riders and the ra-zac and this really puts our hero's training to the test. Flaws: - frequently jumps back and forth between storylines, often leads to confusion; -elves do not seem as wise as they are portrayed to be (Ex: Oromis fails to adequately address Eragon's questions concerning the world around him) ; - inspiration from other works might lead to unwarranted comparisons; - somewhat wordy and clich?#d; - a little dull in some spots Praiswort...

Star Wars Republic Commando

4 stars (Lots of fun, where's part 2?) - This is an immensely satisfying journey through the life of a Clone Commando, the elite units in the Clone Wars. Featuring fantastic squad-level action, the game shows you parts of Star Wars that you've been wanting to see for years. Your three squadmates are realized expertly, with convincing AI and squad tactics, as well as engaging animation and voice work. However, be aware that this game is reasonably short, rather easy, and ends with a Halo 2 style "Part I" cliffhanger that leaves you wondering when the next one came out, and why they didn't just print "Part I" right there on the box. 5 stars (STAR WARS REPUBLIC COMMANDO) - This game was really fun. I think that it's the best game that they have come out with for Star Wars. It has really good graphics and phrases. Please be aware that you have to have a video card that supports vertex shading, if not, the game won't run. Overall, this game was the BOMB!!! 5 stars (Much better than the movie, Excellent Single Player) - This game produced the most enjoyable experience since Half Life 2. I generally play first-person-shooter once or twice, then never play again; not this game. I only bought it becase it seemed similar to "Brothers in Arms" with its squad-leader element. I was not expecting much as I normally enjoy WWII-style games (I also loathed the latest three Star Wars films) but was very suprised how good it really was. From the beginning, I could sense the high production values. The story line, dialogue, and voice acting were excellent, especially for a video game. I felt I got to know my squadmates in Republic Commando much better than in Brothers in Arms. There were lots of little touches and polish that made it enjoyable to play through many times. Music, top-notch. I don't know if the music is from the films, but it shares the same epic quality. Graphics and effects were well done and ran very well with no stutters, crashes, or lag, even on the hig...

Halo- Combat Evolved

4 stars (Good Game, But Not As Good As The Xbox Version !!!!!!!!!) - I'm not the biggest PC gamer, I usually stick to my Xbox, but I must say this version has way better graphics, along with new weapons like the fuel rod cannon, and the flamethrower. Yet, the campaign mode is really no different from the Xbox version at all, and really you need some real advanced hardware as well, to play this game. The timing was off to now you have games like Half Life 2, Unreal, and Doom 3 out, on the PC as well as Far Cry and Call of Duty, really not the best timing since the Xbox version has been out now for 2 years. Yes the multi player has lots of cool options, with online options. The problem is that the online system doesn't work that well at all, and they also eliminated co op from the multi player options. The multi player on the pc version is just terrible, and is stripped down compared too the console version. So all you have is the single player campaign mode which is only 10 levels and about 12-14 hours of gameplay unless you put the game in Heroic mode. So after you beat the game their is no multi player fun at all, and there is no way to set up LAN parties and such with the pc version. Well, if you look past the flaws, the campaign mode is fun and has a edge graphic wise over the Xbox version, along with the Flamethrower and Fuel Rod Cannon, which were both nice toys. I will admit the controls on the PC version are easier than I would expect since I'm usually a system gamer. What can I say if you own a Pc and you don't own the Xbox, get the PC version, but if you are given a choice between the two I would still choose the Xbox version though, because it has more beyond the campaign mode. Halo is still a great game no matter what system it's on. The game will sometimes freeze up too which I didn't like. Overall, I will give the PC version of Halo a 4/5,... great game but can't out shine the Xbox version!!! -Rogue Fox "Rogue" 3 stars (Well...) - It was good. I ...

Why Writers Are Cranky and Five Emergency Tools for Writing a Short Story

4 stars (A Fun but Brief Look at Literary Crankiness) - Rogers presents an insightful and fun look at the writing mind and the factors that influence it. While it's true not all writers are cranky, his reasoning here is fun to follow even if it is a little too brief at times. His 'Five Emergency Tools for Writing a Short Story' are interesting exercises that any writer can use to jump start a stalled writing session. A few of them seem slightly outlandish, but he does suggest modifying them in order to make them work for different writers. He gives examples of stories he created using these tools, but unfortunately, doesn't include even parts of the stories themselves as further illustration. ...

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

5 stars (great GAME!) - THIS GAME IS VERY GOOD BUT ONCE YOU PLAY IT THE 100 TIME IT GETS KINDA BORING.I PLAY THIS GAME ON 2 COMPUTERS.MY LAPTOP WICH DOSENT MEET REQUIMENTS BUT STILL WORKS.IT SEEMS TO RUN ALMOST EVERY THING I PUT ON IT EVEN RUNS DOS.ITS BRAND NEW MADE IN 2005!but my destop greatly surpasses the requiments.its 5 years old it runs everything eceapt the older games 1990s under but thats normal. We just got a new G card in our computer because the last one got fried it has the same power but more memory.Overall play this on a fast computer it dosent work good on slow computers. 5 stars (Wow! What a game.) - I picked this game up from all the praise that it recieved from a couple of years ago. In my opinion it is one of the best role playing games right up there with FF VII, Chrono Trigger, and XenoGears. This game falls into the category of an action role playing game since you are able to move around in combat rather than just standing and exchanging hits. In this game you can create what character that you want to be. This was the RPG for the X-Box that you decided your own fate. Like any other RPG you pick up characters and weapons/items along your journey. Along the way you'll have questions answered that takes this game for a wild turn. In other words, this story line is one of the best for any Role playing game in quite a while. This game is so much fun that words cannot describe. My only complaint of this game was the controls. But like any other game, the more you play the more you get used to. This game is worth the purchase. It also sets up for the sequel quite nicely. 5 stars (Give it 10 stars!) - This game is the BEST game I ever played! it is a RPG game.. It has a great storyline! Here are the pros and cons: Pros: Great storyline. Super graphics. Very unique charicters. You can build your own Lightsabers, upgrade armor, weapons. Star Wars Galaxies- The Total Experience

5 stars (A Rookie's First Look At Online Gaming) - When I a little concerned when I read all of the negative comments about Star Wars Galaxies until I recognized a common theme. The people spewing the negative rants were all players who suffered in some way or other from the Combat Upgrade. This was a major sea change in SWG that was aimed at standardizing some areas of the game and eliminating inequities that granted unfair advantages to those who had been exploiting them. Based on my experience, it seemed that the anti-SWG constituency had also had their "oxen gored" by the changes. While I am sympathetic to their plight (although I have little patience with so-called "power gamers" who get caught with their hands in the cookie jar), the post-Combat Upgrade world would be the only SWG that I would ever know. In other words, the game would be what it was when I joined. It's much like the old joke about how many San Francisco 49er fans it would take to change a light bulb? One to install the bulb and three to stand around and talk about how great the old bulb used to be. Once I decided to join, it went as smoothly as I could have ever wanted. Although I had never played an MMORPG, the installation, setup and character creation were a snap. The game graphics are excellent and the theme music by John Williams is excellent. Because of the fluid nature of this type of game, the manual is, by necessity, broadly written and strategy guids are of limited usefullness. Although, there is an excellent in-game Help feature (the Holocron), the very best way to figure out things that have you stumped is to make friends. I admit to becoming very frustrated by undocumented problems until I asked an obviously experienced character for help. He responded with patience and good humor at the dumb rookie questions I threw his way and actually seemed to enjoy helping me along. We have since become good friends in the game and I can always rely on him for a helping hand ...

Star Wars- Darth Maul- Saboteur

3 stars (Solid but not spectacular) - Darth Maul: Saboteur (2001.) A Star Wars short short written by James Luceno, occuring before Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter. INTRODUCTION: The Star Wars film series is, without question, the greatest science fiction series of all time. George Lucas captured the minds of people young and old across the world. But as anyone knows, there are only a limited number of films, and for many people, this just wasn't enough. And thus, the Star Wars Expanded Universe was born. The Expanded Universe consisted of comic books, video games, novels, and other media. Many of the stories focused on the characters in the films, many focused on unknown characters from the same universe. Among the authors who tried their hands at creating Star Wars novels was James Luceno. He wrote a plethora of prequel-era novels, including a short story entitled Darth Maul: Saboteur. It was initially only available in the E-Book format. The story served as somewhat of a prequel to Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter, a full-length book by Michael Reaves. Read on for my review. STORYLINE: On a distant mining world, two different mining corporations are constantly competing with one another - and not in the nice, competitive business way. They frequently sabotage one another and endanger lives. Darth Sidious has become aware of this and sends his apprentice, Darth Maul, to massacre both sides of the conflict and create chaos and confusion. This way, Darth Sidious can have the resources of the world all to himself. OPINIONS: In a lot of ways, doing a Star Wars short story just doesn't work. James Luceno is one of my favorite Star Wars author, but really, this tale falls flat. Many parts of the story drag on for too long, and even though Darth Maul's name appears in the title of the story, his role isn't as big as it should be. Seriously, Luceno should have written a full-length novel about this subject, not just a novella. Doing so, I'm sure he could have created a master...

The Second Coming of Charles Darwin

5 stars (Always the points counterpoint) - Jim Morrow has returned after a few years without a book on the shelves to bring us his prose in short form; an area in which his ideas excel and don't feel rushed or squashed. In " The Second Coming of Charles Darwin " we meet a automatonic galapogos tortoise who is sent back in time with a vengeant man wanting to right the moral wrings of the future by preventing what he feels is the root of all moral wrongs, the theory of evolution. A fantastic short story sewn together with Jim's always welcome satire. He continually birngs his readers a great story, even if you agree with his pathos or not, Jim is one of the most underrated writers of our day. ...

Recovery Star Wars- The New Jedi Order

1 stars (C is for cookie... [...]) - Yeah... I wish I had read these reviews first before purchasing. So I have to wait until tomorrow to read my ebook huh? Honestly, I didn't even know this was just an in-between story before Conquest and after Balance Point. I wouldn't have even bothered with it if I had known that. Well, thankfully I just bought the Conquest duology while hunting for a print copy of Recovery, so I can read something tonight at least... [...] 4 stars (A short story that's worth the time and money) - This is my first experience with Microsoft Reader. I thought it was great! I made the font larger, pulled a nice recliner over in front of the monitor, and had no trouble reading the story in one sitting. It's quite easy to work with, and the price was not really that expensive. Granted, you might be able to get much more story in most ebooks for the same money, but this was the only media that the story was available in. It was also a very fast way to acquire the story. The story takes some interesting turns and nicely brings some other plot lines back together. I liked the new Jedi characters that were introduced, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with them in future installments of the overall story. A worthy effort on the part of Troy Denning, and most people who are still reading the Yuuzhan Vong stories by this point are likely to appreciate this part. And, if you've never tried an ebook, take a chance. You'll probably be pleasantly surprised. 1 stars (This whole EBook thing is really bad. Not Recommended.) - First, when you purchase this Electronic book, your order is not processed until the next day so do not expect to download it until the next day. Second, you have to download this Acrobat Reader thing and if you already have the full Adobe Acrobat, you still have to download and install the reader program or you cannot download the book from the website.
