1 stars (The jury is still out on this one) - I've been very happy with the security package, but installing took days. Even the updates are slow. My computer has been slower since installing this program. I might have been better off getting Norton. This program offered free telephone service for problems and Norton charges for each call. 5 stars (Finally, an affordable easy-to-use all-in-one solution) - After years using first McAfee then Norton, I finally found a solid alternative. Trend Micro's PC-cillin is comprehensive PC protection that's easy to use, affordable and doesn't prevent critical applications from running as they were meant to -- and costs less than it's counterparts. Gone are the many many pesky "alerts" from Norton's security product (that, at times, a user has no idea how to answer and, if answered wrong, some things don't even work anymore). I've happily made the switch and I'll never go back again. 5 stars (Switched from Norton, McAfee and ZoneLabs) - I decided to standardize on a single anti-virus/firewall solution for the three computers in our house. This fit the bill. First, the competitive rebate makes it very affordable. They also offer a home three-pack, which costs what two individual licenses would. Second, the impact on my systems seems very negligible - I can't notice a performance difference when it's turned on or off. Third, using their Home Network feature you can manage installations of the product on other computer on your network. So I can administer all three of my computers without running around the house. Fourth, the firewall allows you to configure the types of access that are permitted (unlike the free ZoneAlarm firewall, which makes you explicitly permission each program you want in/out access). On the downside, the firewall configuration could be easier to understand. Once you have it setup you never notice it's there, though. 1 stars (Norton Internet Security is a complete waste of time & money.) - I purchased Norton and I have always used Norton as my anti-virus and firewall. I purchased Norton (again) last year and will not be renewing my subscription this year. This product is a joke. It completely slows down my laptop without reason (laptop is a high end IBM), it sends out a million messages for no apparent reasons and keeps asking to be un-installed and re-installed because one function or another is not working. Symantec really need to fix this software or lose all their customers. 2 stars (The anti-virus component might be OK, but the rest is buggy.) - Norton anti-virus at some point was the best anti-virus program, then it started going down hill and especially when they bundled this other useless (trash-ware) Internet security components. I am an above average computer user. This product is not worth the money. It is probably best to spend the money on just the anti-virus alone if that is still any good. When I installed this program it slowed down my 550 MHz system. If I try to send an email with an attachment it timed out (poor programing) because it scans the outgoing mail and it is also supposed to "train" its anti-spam engine, which is by the way useless, a simple OE filter catches more spam than it ever hopes to. I have DSL so it is not a bandwidth or timeout issue like Symantec would like you to believe, it is simply that Norton acts as the mail server for your email client but acts less than that due to poor or incomplete programing. Symantec's website is not much help on this big defect in the program. The solution that I discovered after days of trial and error is to disable the scanning of the outgoing email all together, this applies to the email scanning of outgoing messages and the filtering/training in the anti-spam options (so much for paying the extra for the Internet security features that have to be disabled in most cases unless you are just sending ...

1 stars (Dont waste your money) - It seems to protect my computer alright. However I constantly have problems when I startup. It has problems updating, and constantly says my user ID is incorrect. However when I restart several times this gets straight. Also I have to turn off the firewall each time I log on to Hotmail and some other webpages since I still havent figured out how to allow them. Also the parental controls are total crap. It would be nice if it would block what it says it does and if you could put in whatever addresses you wanted. 1 stars (WARNING) - After being unable to successfully install this software on our computer (for some reason, the software thinks our computer has less than the required minimum 128 megabytes of RAM, when it has 2.5 GIGABYTES of RAM), we called Panda Software. Please note: THERE IS NO TOLL FREE NUMBER FOR THIS COMPANY IN THEIR PACKAGE INSERTS. The representative we spoke with informed us that the software WILL NOT WORK on systems with more than two gigabytes of RAM. 1 stars (Don't waste your money) - I had high hopes this CD would contain the content I wanted to really be able to create killer spreadsheets without the normal time involved in discovering a program's true potential. Wrong! From the first insertion of the CD (it wouldn't auto-start) to the loading of each successive lesson (the vocal playback of the animated character remained garbled for some time before it would clear up), I got more and more frustrated. It would even skip whole lesson sections that I did not discover until a successive lesson mentioned something I had not heard before. Searching back, I had to find the missing lesson and manually click it to start. I learned more just loading up the Excel software and "noodling" with it for about 20-30 minutes. The Complete Guide to Home Wiring- A Comprehensive Manual- from Basic Repairs to Advanced Projects

5 stars (Excellent book!) - Very pleased! This book is clear and invaluable for teaching you all about wiring - especially if you've never done it before! 5 stars (I did it!) - I compared this book to many others (including the Home Depot book mentioned in another review) before I bought it, and this one seemed to be the most comprehensive, clear and concise for my purposes. I used this book to help guide me through wiring portion in the process of ripping out my entire basement (all the way to the block walls) and rebuilding it. This is a fifty year old house with old "ragwire" wiring, which I replaced as I did the new work. I used the information in the book to do my electrical permit drawings which flew through the permit office with no comments from the reviewer. I installed multiple remote controlled recessed and surface-mounted lighting fixtures and networked the house for computer, video, audio and telephone by following the well-illustrated and clearly written directions in the book. The circuit diagrams proved especially helpful in wiring the multiple-switched and zoned lighting fixtures. All of the work passed the rough-in and final inspections by the electrical inspector without a single comment or change, and not once did I need to call in a professional electrician. I have several more projects on the agenda, including wiring my large shed, some low-voltage landscape lighting and a complete remodeling of the 50 year old kitchen and bathrooms, and this book includes all of the required information. I know I won't need to buy any other DIY books on the subject of wiring in order to finish the projects. Based on the quality and ease-of-use of this book, I went out and bought the Black & Decker book on plumbing. 4 stars (Excellent!) - Although I have not tried the CD version, I have the downloaded version. You just download it and you can work it without using any cd roms or anything. Its such a GREAT program. You get to pick and create your ringtones from any song and at ANYPOINT! Instead of paying $2 for every ringtone and they dont even start it at the point you like it. (IE Cingular and T-Mobile) I found this item the best ringtone maker Ive ever used. But one thing that would make this product better is if we could use a USB cable to import the songs instead of thru text messages and then you wouldnt be using up those. But others wise get this product if you want to customize your own ringtones. Norton AntiVirus 2005 Home Protection Pack - 3 Users

4 stars (Norton Antivirus purchase) - I like the product. But Norton Antivirus, Symantec did not except my rebate offer and indicated my original receipt which was an Amazon receipt was not valid. I will not purchase from Symantec again. 5 stars (No problems) - I don't understand the amount of negative feedbacks out there, but it seems there are a lot of Symantec/Norton bashers, yet Symantec products (at least virus protection ones) continue to be the best sellers among retailers, computer manufacturers, and large companies. I have been using computers since 1996, by all means a novice, and started out initially with McAfee upon everyone's recommendations. It always seemed to require too much user input, and not knowing much comupter anti virus lingo, I kept having all sorts of problems (Freezing, pop-ups for McAfee sale pitches, errors, excessive prompts for specific actions, and YES viruses, with very poor customer service). When I bought my second computer (IBM) in early 2000, it came with Norton pre-installed, and what a difference! I never had to do anything to the software. It just worked in the background, and never had a problem. I have been a Norton/Symantec fan since. Every year, I purchase and upgrade to the new software, simply because it is free after rebates, instead of paying to renew my subscription. I tried one year the NIS, and it did slow my computer, so I went back to the NAV. We have 3 desktop and 3 laptop computers, running W98, ME and XP. Never had a problem with viruses, and all computers have Norton running just smoothly in the background. Never had any problems with installation, and the current 3 users pack was even easier, because it automatically uninstalled the prior versions (Norton Professional 2003 and 2004). It updates itself automatically, and simply works (you just don't even know it is working). Not one single computer had a virus in over 5 years. I still have my IBM Aptiva, W98, 550MHZ Athlon, and an older 450MHZ Celeron Toshiba...

AlohaBob PC Relocator Ultra Control 2005

5 stars (PC Relocator Works) - Although it did not work as quickly or effortlessly as I imagined, it is much faster and easier than any other method I've used. The included 2m transfer cable was not long enough for my installed set-up, but it worked fine with a USB extension cable. The better you prepare the old PC and the new PC, the better it works. I transferred from Win98SE to XPPro with very few issues after the move (some minor OS incompatibilities, easily resolved in XPPro). Do read everything before starting. I recommend this product without reservations to everyone. 5 stars (Great product!) - Very easy to use. Just followed the instructions and all of my data was relocated to my new computer. 1 stars (Program nightmare and customer service gulag) - I'm not a novice user and read the instructions carefully before proceeding to move to a new computer with Windows XP Pro and Office 03. I did not try to migrate programs, but only files. What a mess! The program must have moved registry settings (who asked it to?) and the new computer was so screwed up I thought I was going to have to reformat. Meanwhile, customer service was virtually non-existent. When things get screwed up, one needs help right away...not in 48 hours or more! Then I filed for a refund and they've been dragging their heels (and ignoring last few emails) on that front although I qualified and presented all pertinent paperwork. It's been nearly two months! Although I was willing to try and let them resolve issues as their sales hype had assured me, that promise proved to be more fiction and less reality. Absolutely unsatisfactory! RUN...RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS PROGRAM! I haven't posted reviews in the past, but this experience was so bad that I wanted to add my voice to the chorus of discontented buyers. And wish I had taken those negative reviews to heart before I purchased this particular program! ...
