Civilization 3 Complete

5 stars (Best Game Ever!) - This is by far the best strategy game ever developed in the computer gaming industry. I can't wait for Civ IV!!! 2 stars (Great Game If You Can Get It to Work; Recommend with Extreme Caution) - Great Aspects: If you can get the game properly installed and working, then it's well-worth the money. Between the many races, many ways to win, and the many paths to get to those wins (tech, weapons, diplomacy, etc.), this game is quite entertaining. The graphics and music are pretty good and the wide array of in-game options (as well as quick to learn) is a strong plus. Downside: Discs seem to have too much copy-protection on them to the point where legal copies of the game can't be read by some CD-drives. Atari tech support is extremly slow and useless and will blame the problem on you unless you really want to push them. Summary: The fun factor (5 stars) isn't in question here, it's the ability to actually play the game. If you have a slightly older CD-drive, you're probably okay. A new CD-ROM drive might present some serious difficulties. Don't hesistate to return the game if it doesn't work with your system. Recommend with Extreme Caution. 4 stars (More Scenarios) - I have enjoyed Civ from the beginning. The Civ3 scenarios are excellent. They give the flavor of the different periods and a good sense of history. however there are some scenarios in Civ2 that are not available in Civ3 that I am aware of and I keep hoping they will show up. The American Revolution, the American Civil War, WWI (even if it is only the European and Mediterranean theaters, and WWII European, Mediterranean and North African theaters. Make no mistake the scenarios available in Civ3 are excellent, ancient Mediterranean, ancient Japan, medieval, Napoleonic and the World War2 Pacific Campaign are all great. I'm sure there are some scenarios that I have left out. You can see those that I play most often. ...

Codename- Panzers Phase 2

5 stars (Totally Sweet) - This game really has a lot going for it. Using historical battles one can have a lot of fun. My only complaint is that Krupps were not like they were in the first game. The allied campaign was really tough. Read up on your strategy for this game because it gets tough. If you liked the first one, I would highly suggest this game. 2 stars (It should have been a patch.) - This game should have been a free patch to codename panzers one.I don't now how stormregion had the nerve to charge 40 bucks and tax for this game.I really enjoyed codename panzers one and was looking forward to the release of this game. Its little more then an improvement on the gaming console and a slight extension of the game.I really do feel robbed,I'm sorry. 5 stars (Panzers) - This game is the Top Game under the strategy games 20 new units, choose your country. A good mix from single and multi-user gaming. Nice landscape graphics. Have played two whole nights already ... simply a must buy. ...

Age of Empires 2 Gold

5 stars (I still love it after all these years... if you own a computer, you NEED this game.) - Age of Empires 2 was the first game I ever got for my computer. It was six years ago, I was ten. It... blew my mind, it was so amazing. I did all the campaigns, it took me about a year on again off again to beat all of them, but hey, I was ten. So then I started working on the 'random maps' in the game. The regular ones were fun, wether one-on-one, eight people in a free-for-all, or balanced teams, it was amazing. The replayability just took me aback. Deathmatches offered almost instant action, giving players hoards of rescources, allowing them to concentrate on militarisation rahter than their economy. But my favourite type of game was Regicide. Each player gets a King and a Castle at the beginning, and you're defeated once your King dies. This beacame a game of cat-and-mouse, building castles wherever I could and always moving the King, trying to protect his royal [if inept] majesty from hoards of bloodthirsty enemies all vying to deliver his crown to their own soverign. All marvelous fun. And I haven't even begun to comment on the system itself. Each of the four ages, dark, feudal, castle, and imperial, represent disticnt points in history. For example, cavalry is not available in the Dark age, and only weak scouts in the Feudal age. The Castle age brings with it heavily armoured knights, as well as horse archers to harass enemy villagers and cripple their economies. And this is just cavalry. Archers, infantry, and siege weapons evolve dramatically as you progress, from rag-tag Militia wielding simple clubs, to the menacing Champions armed with monstrous two-handed swords, and this is just Infantry. Also, each of the 13 civilizations has its own benefits, such as the Turks' cheaper gunpowder units or the Fraknish bonuses to knight hitpoints. In addition, each civilization gets one [some even get two] unique units, which only they can produce. The By...

Stronghold 2

5 stars (Excellent Medieval SIM) - If you are looking for a great castle sim, with a challenging combat/siege warfare system, look no further. I'm a medieval history buff, and have always been interested in everything from combat to politics to feudal life. This game, while not perfect, is a fulfilling escape into the world of knights and barbarians. As far as hardware issues go, I have had none. My computer exceeds the recommended specs and I play with all settings maxed in 1600x1200x24 resolution (AMD Athlon 64 3500+, 2gb Corsair PC3200 RAM, PNY GeForce 6800GT). However I would not recommend that someone who has only the minimum or even recommended system requirements turn on all the eye-candy. Castle siege scenes can become quite demanding on both the processor and video card, but if you have the hardware it is quite beautiful and realistic. I haven't encountered any in-game bugs - at least none that have impaired my gaming experience in any noticable way. This seems to be a very well designed game, and although it may still be a work in progress, the foundation is there for a very fun, replayable game. The support staff and developers seem dedicated to continuing to update this game and provide help for users who encounter problems. I would highly recommend this game to anyone interested in historical sims, real time strategy, or castle wall demolition. 4 stars (cool) - On my computer the game worked flawlessly. The game is very cool with hardly any cons. The cons are that the stupid peasants poo in the middle of your town and you have to build a gong farmer. The dungeons and punishment in the game is easy for any body that doesnt get it. You build a courthouse, a guard post, a torture guild, a punishment, and whenever the criminal has his bag out you click on the guard with the black staff then on the criminal then he will bring him to the dungeon to await his punishment. In this game though whenever I do free build where you build from scratch it jus...

Command and Conquer Generals- Zero Hour Expansion Pack

5 stars (pretty darn good) - This is a good expansion pack... the Challenge mode is very cool... you pick the personality of your general, then you pick the personality of the general you want to fight against. When then game begins, you can hear the general from the other team laughing at your mistakes, and he's usually right. Very interesting and fun to play. Don't play this game on a night before you have to go to work, because you will probably lose track of time by having such a blast. But there is a downside... The user interface is still the same old interface that takes up too much space on the screen. And perhaps most annoying: Any time you get a mission report, you have to wait and wait and wait to see the pop-up descriptions when you are trying to chose which unit(s) you want to build. And speaking of waiting... if you want to restart a mission, you have to sit through the introduction video, and you can't skip past it. Hopefully the next version of C&C will fix these oversights. 4 stars (Wonderful endeed but...) - Anyone who bought and enjoyed the original CandC: Generals won't go far wrong doing the same again with this expansion. Your money buys you another 15 single player missions all complete with new units, a `challenge' scenario where you can choose a general that suits your style of play and put him up against 8 others as well as the usual skirmish and multiplay modes. The graphics and sound are excellent, as could be expected from a developer of this pedigree, with the cut scenes giving a truly professional feel to the whole experience. Explosions and animation are superb, I particularly like the way bodies fly through the air as a bunker is blown up, and the screams of anguish as troopers die a painful chemical death never fails to bring a smile (I know, I'm a sick git). Gameplay is fluid, albeit a little slow in places, while it should also be noted that he who rules the skies, wins (99 times out of 100 anyway). The GLA missions a...

Port Royale 2

4 stars (Great game, but be sure on what you're looking for.) - This is a great game, very fun, but make sure this is what you are looking for. This is not some sort of action, adventure, or RPG game. This is a strategy. My review won't go into detail, you can read tons of detail from other reviews, but I wanted to make sure you all know, this is a strategy game, don't buy it thinking it is anything other than that. 4 stars ( Port Royale 2 ) - I downloaded the demo version and liked it so I ordered the game. I opened it and tried to load it onto my computer. Wouldn't do it. Tried another computer, still wouldn't do it. I then tried my wifes computer and it downloaded. Tried to play it and it crashed. I went to the website and found I wasn't the only one having a problem, the answers were evidently in the video card. I gave it to my son. He downloaded it on his homebuilt computer and it works. question 1 and 2 are his feelings about the game. He thanks me for buying the game for him. Advice, make sure you have everything the system requirements ask for before you buy the game. I thought that since the demo worked so well that the full game would also, wrong. 4 stars (Good Game) - I am a pirate simulation guy. I played Pirates, Pirates Gold, Pirates 2004, Sea Dogs, Pirates of the Caribbean, Port Royale and High Seas. No game has the trading down like Port Royale 2 . It is the best trade simulation game available, bar none. With that said, the piracy part of the game is very difficult. You cannot operate at all without a Letter of Marque. If you attack a country's ships without a letter everyone pretty much hates you and you cannot trade any more. The game for you is basically over. You need to trade (which means you probably need to be friendly with 2 countries). Although you can buy your reputation back to neutral or just wait long enough for your reputation to get better. I think this makes the game more true to life. The ship to ship fighting is pretty basic, yo...

Knights of Honor

5 stars (What is Thy Will, M'lord?) - Well it seems up to me to set the record here... There aren't many reviews as of this typing and the game is getting scarce (might be discontinued - stores aren't getting new copies?)... So what's the boggle folks? Three important points to cover in this review, here they go: 1. Performance? This game, as far as I've experienced, as no bugs. It runs flawlessly, doesn't stutter or pause at all, and the graphics and sound quality are astounding. If you like 3D then Poo-Poo on you: the 2D graphics in this game outshine many 3D games on the market. The major problems that many PC-gamers have that they don't realize are among the following: virus scanning software running in the background, unnecessary background programs in memory, outdated drivers (video, sound, motherboard, etc), or just plain shoddy equipment (the cheapest and best advertised isn't the best quality!)... For the sake of guidance make sure you PC matches or exceeds the minimum requirements: the game developers did a good job of estimating what kind of hardware is needed to run the game smoothly... 2. Gameplay? Moooohahah! Total War - Total what? Knights of Honor (KoH) is on a level that cannot be compared with the current offering of strategy titles - perhaps that is why it hasn't exploded on the scene... KoH is much slower paced than other games (possibly even more time-consuming than Civilization - or at least equal)... But that is its strength: if you don't like to micromanage and don't have the patience to wait several minutes for something, anything, to happen then don't bother with KoH... The user interface, help menus, and in-game events are easy to follow and manipulate. The options for guiding your nation surpass any game I've played recently (again with maybe the exception of the latest Civlization offering)... If you like Civilization and Medieval simulations then KoH has consumed anything available today - play the demo and see for yoursel...

Empire Earth 2

5 stars (Needs Expansion but good game) - Ive been a huge fan of the first and when i heard about the second i counted down the days and finally it came out it was amazing much better then the first great graphics tons of options and Extreamely fun online and its free and 8 people can play at once and can make alliances and betray your allies and then NUKE them like crazy or use spys to make there reasourses posines or just make a huge army of GIANT robots and go slauter your enemy so as you can see theres tons of differnt ways to play 15 ages hundreds of buildings and dozens of units however if you got a crappy computer it will lag but its still fun so throw out War Craft or Age of Empires because the KING of RTS is here so buy it log on and kill 5 stars (FROM Cavalry Riders TO ROBOTS from Pitch forks to NUKES) - now me and my friends always would play the first together online it was a blast But one day one of my friends logged on and said that they are making a sequel WOW! so we waited until finally it came out but it wasnt as popular as we whould have hoped we were woried it may have been a stinker but when we got on we saw that it was in fact the KING of RTS it truely feels like you are in an actual war with weather blood stains However it does lagg a little but its worth it dozens of years to choose from TONS of civilzations and the Max POP is 2000 WOW the campaign may be a little boring but scrimishes rock and online play unimagineable 1 stars (Doesnt work) - The only good this game is good for is crashing your computer. when it works it extremely slow and unplayable. You have to hack the configuration files just to get it somewhat playable when it should work right out of the box. The developer abandoned support. If you get it working for the 10 minutes that it does work the graphics are terrible. Empire Earth 1 is better, the graphics were better and the game was playable. What happened this time?? Do not buy this game. Save your $50 and get Rise...

Imperial Glory

5 stars (Hard to get bored) - This is a great strategy game. If you ever wondered what empire-building during the Napoleonic era was like, this is the game for you. The game is thoroughly researched down to the level of the uniforms and weaponry, and the military units manouver in the precise manner described in military history books. For naval warfare buffs, it brings new realism to naval strategy games, allowing for the wind factor and the accuracy of the guns. Be warned, however, this is a game for hard-core strategists, not for the shoot-em up crowd. If you consider yourself a cognoscenti of military strategy games with more than a passing taste for history, give this one a try, you won't regret it 4 stars (Napoleon , Blucher, Wellington....! sword, musket and cannon) - Imperial Glory covers the mid point in European imperialism, The game mainly plays out the Napoleonic Wars combined with the industrial revolution. All this lumped together in a campaign that well, is longgggg. Quick battles (land and naval)are great and stimulating. They include a pause, real time point and click order, with very slow to very fast speed of play and the naval side has a wind gauge. The campaign AI is designed to play out as if it were the 1791-1820's, (3 levels of difficulty)with each nations armies evenly matched to some degree. One the best games covering the the age of Napoleon. 4 stars (Fun easy game.) - This was a fun game to play. It was almost as fun as Medieval Total War. I removed 1 star for the combat interface. Combat on land is fine, it was similar to the total war series. The naval combat is where I removed the 1 star. The naval combat can be confusing if you have more than 3 ships, you send off a ship in a particular direction, andyou forget why you sent the ship in that direction ion the first place. It would be nice to issue orders while paused. Not only that, the empires are not truly balanced. Playing campaign mode hardest level of difficulty, England...

Age of Mythology Gold Edition

4 stars (Hours of fun with just a touch of educational value) - OK... so the comment of educational value might be a little much if you aren't interested in mythology and choose not to look at any of the context sensitive help, however if you do you'll be surprised at the amount of effort that went into the background that was documented for this game. The game itself is a blast having grown from the same mold as Age of Empires and it's predecessors. The inability to zoom in closer to the action or rotate the camera does make it difficult to control at times. The campaigns that are included are fun, but have little replay value. This is more than made up for with the ability to play online and/or create new scenarios (can sometimes be a time consuming experience if you want to create something large) or generate them randomly (to get back playing quickly) 5 stars (Extreme Gaming: Massively Multiplayer, stunningly strategic, stupendous storyline, gourgeos graphics!!!) - Have you played Starcraft, Age of Empires, Age of Kings, Rise of Rome, or Star Wars Battlefield? If you have, you should know what this is like... Create your civilization, decide what units to concentrate on, pick which god to worship, prioritize your defenses and your offensives, thats exactly what this is like. Differences for AoE, AoK, etc, are that they have converted the game into 3-D, creating stunning effects of biuldings, units, rivers, and forests. Also it has a twist with the gods, so you may worship the gods of your choice, and become different advantags. There are three main cultures, each with different gods and sub-gods. They are Greek, Egyptian, and Norse. Each has unique advantages and dissadvantages, offering many hours of play. After you are tired of the single-player and campaigns (that is, if you ever do) there is more!!! You can now easily log on to a server with hundreds of other players ready for a fight. And if you win, your rank raises. This lets you easily find t...

Silent Hunter 3 DVD

1 stars (Maybe it's a good game - if you can get it to run.....) - I have not even been able to install the game due to the use of Starforce copy protection software contained on the DVD. My drive see's only empty folders. [...] Bottom line - do not waste your money on this game - if you open it and it does not work, you cannot return it...Ubisoft does not care, they will not help, they just want your money. Do not buy ANY Ubisoft products - if you do not want to get ripped off. 5 stars (Silent Hunter 3) - Silent Hunter 3 arrived about a week ago and I am totally hooked! This has got to be the most engaging simulation I've played. Though it lacks the high action of combat flight, I cannot overstate the joy one feels at stalking, lining up and sinking allied ships. Yesterday on the way to patrol. off the coast of Ireland, we spotted a British destroyer, approached it at periscope depth with electric engines running at slow speed, got within a 800 meters at 90 degrees (torpedoes were unreliable and less likely to detonate if hitting the hull from an oblique angle), and sank it with a perfect firing solution. I can't communicate how giddy that makes you feel. Continuing the patrol I sent five merchants to the bottom. The level of simulation is scalable, and I'm only playing at around 50%. If you want to go all the way, you have to manually identify ships, calculate distance, course and speed, then do the trigonometry for the firing solution. Presently, I leave all that to the weapons officer and focus on approaching the target undetected. At full realism, you don't get to use the external cameras, and can only experience the action from within the boat itself. Not quite ready for that myself. If you fail to sink warships, they start to hunt you persistently and methodically, which can get very tense indeed. I've done ten patrols and it's still May 1940. The allies will get their act together as the war progresses and survival will become increasingly difficult...

Sid Meier-s Pirates-

4 stars (can't dance) - although I've never won a dance this game is enjoyable. pirates, was the 1st pc game i had and yhis new verssion was like takin g a walk back it time. 5 stars (Great fun on the high seas!) - Sid Meier's Pirates! is a wonderful adventure game. You explore the ocean as a pirate captain and experience life on the high seas. You can capture ships, sack cities and towns, and search for buried treasure. The game has many levels of difficulty, so you can have fun right away, but you don't get bored when you have mastered the game. 4 stars (awesome game, sid does it again) - Right, if you've seen Pirates of the Caribbean, you'll see a lot of familiar stuff here. If you liked the movie(and not just because Depp and Bloom were in it), then this will be a treasure you won't miss STOP BLOWING HOLES IN MY SHIP!! The fighting, looting, dodging, and overall pirating gameplay has been programmed beautifully. The only flaw in the gameplay standpoint is that sailing against the wind(usually eastwards) is at a crawl. The types of upgrades and different ships allow some strategy involvement, but not enough to make your brain strain. Diplomacy is for suckers, you can basically piss off all four countries(there's the English, Spanish, Dutch, and French) and not get in too much trouble. It's when you pick on one country in particular(I sacked every Spanish Town I could find) that you get into trouble. WEDDINGS? I LOVE WEDDINGS!!! DRINKS ALL AROUND!! I felt that swooning governers daughters was fun. My only fault with it is that if news of your exploits travels so fast(instantly for the most part), why don't the ladies know that you've been trying to pass the moves on other women? If you get the girl good enough, you can marry her, but there is very little gameplay bonus for it, just the ability to say that you're married. YOU LOOK SOMEWHAT FAMILIAR, HAVE I THREATENED YOU BEFORE? one of the biggest flaws(pretty much the only flaw) is that the animations and th...

Rise of Nations- Thrones - Patriots Expansion Pack

4 stars (Expansion value for kids) - Firstly, I have already reviewed Rise of Nations; it is excellent and the expansion pack makes it better. If you don't have either RON, or if $$ doesn't matter then go for Gold and get the best. However, my situation is that I bought the expansion pack as an 'extra' for my children (who love RoN) and for them this expansion pack was NOT good value. Other expansion packs we have bought (notably age of empires and age of empires II) have added to the game play in significant 'game changing' ways. The RoN expansion does have new nations and new unique units; as one reviewer says if you are a 'thinking man' these new subtleties are an interesting nut to crack. But if you are a 'thinking child' the differences are too subtle (or complex) to fully grasp. The senate is comprehensible; the distinctions between the different generals really isn't. The biggest disapointment was the campaigns. In age of kings each new campaign had introduced my children to a piece of history with which they became fascinated. RoN does have a good campaign system which I raved about before. However the expansion pack is really just the same thing with the countries relabeled. There are a couple of new tweaks but nothing in the campaigns themselves to render them as immersive as the AOK versions. All in all, the expansion pack makes a brilliant game better. But viewed as an expense almost equivalent to a new game, I cannot recommend this UNLESS you have a deep and thorough grasp of the underlying subtleties of the original version. 4 stars (Great game, the six campaigns need some work) - Ive played this game a lot over time and have found it to be a very fun game. Good battle graphics and realistic aspects to running your nation. However, the 6 newer campaigns have limited scenarios and are too simple. The normal campaign doesn't have enough regions to conquer. Despite these downsides, the campaign is still loads of fun, especially the new world and cold ...

Age of Mythology

3 stars (Fell short of an "Age" game.) - I love PC strategy games. I have to say that " Age of Mythology " was a let-down from the progression of the "Age of Empires" titles. I think " Age of Mythology " was probably being used by Ensemble Studios as stop-gap money earner, and also a building block for the next game in their AOE series. The Good: In Age of Mythology , Ensemble made the jump to a 3-D graphics engine, which is now expected from all RTS games by the gaming community. It also has that same "feel" of an "Age" game, and the same style and ease of use through the User-Interface. The cultural specialization of the games civilizations is also very well done. The Bad: One word - "scale". While the rest of the RTS genre was going "Epic" - massive battles, huge fortifications, very large maps, complicated economies, yada, yada... Ensemble went small scale with " Age of Mythology ". Don't expect to see more than around 120 units in any single army in this game. Also... the whole "Mytholgy" aspect may be a bit of a turn-off to those who are accustomed to the more "historical/real-world" background of the "Empires" series. The ugly: Graphics - Even when " Age of Mythology " was released, the detail was lack-luster, and obtuse, even with all the graphic bells 'n' whistles turned on. Note to Ensemble - if your going to go small scale when building a game, you need to make the graphics spectacular. My advice - if you are a big fan of the "Age of Empires" series, skip "Age of Mytholgy" altogether... hold out for "AOE III". 3 stars (Expansion is very disapointing) - Well the first one was very nice, making difrent types of units to counter or lead atackes waching the great graphics or using gods powers to shmash your enemiews to bits or to restor or units or even your economy, but the canpaingne way way way to short. unlike the other age of ****** games that ive played over the year this campaigne focuses on the same story over and over again i mean come on (...

Rise of Nations Gold

5 stars (The best pc game I've played) - This game is fantastic I really like all the different ages. It makes it so much more fun then just being in one particuler period of time. The Ages are Ancient(10,000BC-200BC)Classical(200BC-500AD) Medieval(500-1200)Gunpowder(1200-1650)Enlightenment(1650-1875)Industrial(1875-1930)Modern(1930-1980) and Information(1980-present). You can also fight with an extremely wide varitey of units, anywhere from phlanxs, archers, cavalry, javalineers, and catapults to infantry machine guns, bazookas, tanks, battleships, stealth bombers(one of my favorite), fighters and even (drumroll please)nukes and much more!! The game is a little complicated but not to complicated. Instead of just one source of money you have 6; food, wood, metal, wealth, knowledge, and sometimes oil. To get all of these things you'll need to build citizens and put them to work at farms mines etc. All of these used for different types of things. For example knowledge is used for age advancement and wood is used for buldings and units. The absolute best thing about the game is the different campaigns: Alexander the Great- 8/10 Try and take over the known world of the classical age including the Romans, Egyptions, Persians, and Indians. Also do the thing I most like about campaign the real historical battles. Napolian- 7/10 Try and take over Europe in the Enlightenment Age with Napolian and become emporor of a continent. Again do historical battles. The New World- 7/10 Try and take over North and South America in the gunpowder/enlightenment age as a Europian nation; English, Spanish etc. an Indian nation Iriquis, Aztecs, etc. or the Americans. The Cold War- 9/10 The best campaign. Be the Americans or Soviets in the modern/information age. Control The Nado and Warsaw Pacts. Purchase Nukes. Win an economic or war victory(although if the americans and soviets go to war there will be nuclear annilation)also conquer as much of world as you can. The Entire World- 5/10 Fun...

Immortal Cities- Children Of The Nile

1 stars (3D isn't always better) - This game is supposed to be the "improved" version of Pharaoah, which was a terriffic game IMHO, but was a flat, two dimensional plane game. I hate how they're taking these games (like Roller Coaster Tycoon) and making them three dimensional when the three dimensionality only makes it more difficult to maneuver across the terrain. For this game, I couldn't play it that long because the game designers went for realism over function in creating the buildings with the result that every building looks the same, so you forget what is what, not to mention that everything looks bland overall. 2 stars (Great concept - poor execution) - Children of the Nile is a completely new genre of citybuilder game where each 'character' is controlled by an AI and for this alone the developers deserve much credit. The premise holds much promise, unfortunately that promise is unrealized in this game. Other reviews have mentioned the high system requirements and this will be an issue if your system is not at the higher end of the recommendations. The citybuilding aspect of the game itself is very nice and well conceived. The economy is well thought out and sufficiently intricate and can be interesting and fun. The towns that can be built offer great variety due to terrain and resource availability differences among the scenarios. Growth of the city, however, eventually depends on interaction with the rest of the world... Where the game fails in my opinion is on what they call the 'World Level'. This is where all interaction with the rest of the world occurs. It seems to be an afterthought tacked on rather than something that was planned from the inception. Every 'World Level' interaction requires the player to save up certain amounts of specified goods to send out expeditions to these sites. Unhappily, the same sites appear in scenario after scenario (only the amounts of goods required to explore them ever seems to change). Saving up these goods can o...

Command and Conquer Generals- Deluxe Edition

5 stars (One of the greatest command games ever!!!) - Command and Conquer Generals Deluxe Edition is the best game i have ever played before. You have to get (required) the general edition to play the zero hour edition. Which this extrodanary game has. My advice is to get it while you can. So have a blast!!! ;) 5 stars (Great Strategy) - I like to switch every few months between Sci-Fi, and RL. Between SF 1st person games to birds-eye viewing an army invading an enemy base. I have to say that the Generals series has fulfilled gaming needs ;) The various generals allow you to become great in specific fields such as infantry, tanks, air force, nuclear power, and much more. I won't go into too many details so you can try it for yourself but I will say that, while I miss the old C&C games (they don't play on XP :..(), Generals and Zero Hour have the most impressive graphics and some of the most detailed game play you will see. The explosions are real, the sound is undeniably great. US Rangers fast roping from a Chinook, Stealth Fighters bombing specific enemy targets, Chinese armored divisions crossing key bridges, and GLA demolition trucks lurking in 'abandoned' cities, awaiting to kamikazie on an enemy convoy. All in all, it has everything a strategic gamer likes. Buy the Deluxe edition because I, for one, enjoy playing both campaings. It's also fun once in a while to go back to Generals instead of Zero Hour to see what it was like to win the battlefield without Chinese Helix choppers flying cover. Though it has high system requirements, it is well worth it. If you buy it and it's laggy then it's a problem with your computer's specifications and not with the game. Oh, forgot one Con. The online multiplayer gets pretty laggy. I mean I played with a friend online (2v2comps) and it was getting pretty laggy, though maybe it's just my computer (even though it's brand new). 3 stars (HA! Not as good as the old one) - This game would be far better if the resourc...
