This guy should be arrested for writing this B.S. and ripping buyers off. 1 stars (Scam artist) - How can this guy convince people that he holds the cures to diseases and ailments and then get them to fork over money to be enlightened? I had to talk my girlfrineds mother out of buying this turd. The guy is an admitted felon and con-artist and still people send him money. It's sad that he can pray on the fears of the general public and create more disinformation on the pharmaceutical industry. He's an oportunistic bottom feeder out to make a quick buck on fear and false hope. I think there is a place for alternative medicine but his book contains no real information and worse yet, dangerous information. Some of the reviews here are on the edge of being hateful, and I think it's wrong. A review should be about the contents of the book, not about the way one feels about the author. I bought the book and I did find some useful info about alternative medicine. There is also lots of insight about the way big money influences the decision making of FDA. Having said all that, I must admit that I have expected much more from "Natural Cures". No doubt Kevin Trudeau is a good promoter. He is so convincing in his infomercials that it is really hard not to buy the products he advertises. However, the book is everything else but what one would expect to get judging by the title and the infomercial. Supposedly I would get a lot more at the authors' website. The Complete German Commission E Monographs- Therapeutic Guide to Herbal Medicines

4 stars (Important work if one understands its place) - This is an important work, helping to document the validity of herbal medicine. However, it is not an all-encompassing work and obviously isn't referenced. Nevertheless, the German Commission E's method of publishing monographs based on the information gathered from companies, researchers, and practitioners (but apparently kept confidential) serves a useful purpose. It is always helpful to consult this text to get some solid conformation for common traditional uses. Every practitioner and researcher should have this book, though it certainly cannot be used in a vacuum. 2 stars (Huge Disappointment!) - I had hoped this book could be my benchmark for herbal information. What I found was a book that was hard to use with little useful information. ... Otherwise, Facts and Comparisions' Review of Natural Products is a better choice. 5 stars (The Most Solid and Dependable Work on the Market) - I have worked with herbs for many decades and have shelves and shelves full of works on Herbs and Healing. The German Commission E Monographs is still an often used Reference that in my oppinion belongs on everyone's shelf who works with Herbs. True, it does not cover all that the herbs are capable of and due to lack of proof, many wonderful herbs are not approved, BUT, and this is most important, whatever you find in this book is scientifically proven and you can believe it. I VERY strongly recomend this book, and the CD as well. Whenever you explore a new herb, or need to know facts, check it out in the Commission E Monographs. Then you have a very good outline from where you can start to work with, and together with other herbals get to know and experiment to arrive at your own conclusion. And that is not to mention the inclusion of interaction with other drugs, side effects, mode of administration, active composition for each monograph and different chapters that cover all that is important. A MUST for every practition...

5 stars (Crisis Preparedness Handbook: A Complete Guide to Home Storage and Physical Survival) - Great book. I really don't see how one could be any better on this subject. The author has a very organized mind, has done his homework, and gives very specific recommendations that are practical and easy for anybody to follow. No wasted space or filler in this book. It's really a reference manual that you'll end up underlining and refering back to again and again. I highly recommend it. 5 stars (a great resource) - This is a great book for anyone interested in surviving any disaster. There is no telling what the future may hold, but this book is a good start in any survival library. 5 stars (One of the best out there.) - This book is well though out, organized in a simple and logical manner, and gives you plenty of information to design your own plan for a crisis of any kind. Unlike other books that just offer a bunch of check lists and "buy what I tell you" recommendation, this book allows you to make your own decisions of what you will and will not need to stock for a crisis. Additionally, much of this can be done on a budget, much of what you would need are your usual grocery items, in canned form. This is a huge savings over many of the dehyrated and freeze dried options normally presented in survival literature. Your Pregnancy Week by Week- Fifth Edition

3 stars (One of the best pregnancy books out there) - I am having my second child, so I purchased the 5th edition book. I loved the 4th as it was very informative and had a detailed drawing of what the baby looked like each week. The 5th edition is a bit different. I still think it's very informative and the best book to have to guide you through these 9 months, but I wish the doctor would have put all the "scary" medical information in a "special considerations" chapter at the end of the book. It's a bit frustrating to have to read something negative every week. I also wish the doctor could explain a bit more about the development of the baby instead of just a few generalized sentences. Overall, it's alot more detailed than others out there. 4 stars (Good for first-time pregnancies) - I bought this book, along with "What to Expect when you're Expecting". I liked this book BETTER because of the week-by-week changes in baby/me vs. the monthly chapters in WTEWYE. As far as some folks saying it's negative, all baby books I've looked at will tell you what can go wrong. I would rather know what CAN possibly go wrong and the symptons so I can know if it's an issue I should be contacting my doctor. 1 stars (Your Money: Down the Drain) - Over the past 22 weeks I've been reading a number of books, this being one of them. Your Pregnancy Week by Week is organized in 6-7 page chapters, one for each week of the pregnancy. Each week gives a couple paragraphs on changes going on with the baby, changes going on with the pregnant mom-to-be, and then spends 2-3 pages covering other topics of potential interest to the pregnant woman. Therein lies the problem. Potential interest does not mean necessary relevance, and the fact that each week you get a taste of potentially interesting information means that if in week 11 you have a question about the difference between doulas and midwives, you have to wait until week 19 to read about it. 1 stars (eye opening book) - very informative book. this kind of information will not be found in pharma sponsored publications. you owe it to yourself to pick this one up. 5 stars (This book saved my life) - Notice how all the negative reviews are from people who haven't even tried using the information in the book to cure themselves? Bunch of cynics and skeptics who would negate the book no matter what information it contains, because they think they're working for A Current Affair or something. Meanwhile, they're missing out on the most amazing book I've ever read. I am one of the world's biggest skeptics, I am an agnostic, I don't follow any religion, I don't believe in "new-agey" remedies, I don't believe in fate; I believe in science, not superstition. That's the point, this is not some crackpot or new-agey theory, everything stated by Dr Clark makes perfect scientific sense. I hadn't even read the book and I tried the "zapper" not expecting anything and actually hoping to discount it, but it instantly nearly cured me of manic depression and the constant flu-like / CFS symptoms I had been dealing with for years. As I continued the treatment, in conjunction with having all my mercury amalgam fillings removed, my situation continued to improve to the point where I can now live a totally normal life. Before starting Dr Clark's treatments, I couldn't even work a regular job and was sick, exhausted and depressed all the time. This is the most important book I have ever read and it saved my life! 5 stars (Well Done!) - This book is the best of it's kind. It is simple and to the point. It's going to change the way I approach shopping for clothes. Stacy and Clinton work to make people look good no matter what their shape or weight or height or figure flaws. When I saw some of the pictures of people (in their underwear) I thought, "No way are they going to make this person look good!" But I was wrong every single time. The people look good. They look together. It made me feel good just to see the change. What I think Stacy and Clinton are about is that they want people to feel good about their bodies no matter what(or where) their problem areas are. What they show us in this book is that we all really can have our "outsides" match our "insides." 5 stars (Stacy and Clinton Don't Disappoint) - I was thrilled to see the American hosts of What Not To Wear co authored a book. The show is fabulous and the book lives up to that standard. First, the book helps you identify your body type not by using some fruit or obscure geometric shape but real world identifiers. The guidelines they use are so simple they make sense for those of us not so handy with a tape measure. Also, the book does not assume every one who is petite is a size 6. Guidelines are given for a variety of shapes, sizes and heights. It also shows you how to dress for work, play and formal occasions. My absolute favorite part is the pictures in the back of the book that show and tell (some fashion books assume you know what a bolero jacket looks like). No assumptions are made here this book provides pictures for everything the authors talk about or recommend which to me makes perfect sense. If you are an Atkins freak, go elsewhere! I lost 50 pounds on the South Beach Diet. To me, that accomplishment was less impressive than the fact that I couldn't lose weight on any diet before I tried this one. I think I had become insulin resistant, and everything I ate turned to fat . . . even when my calorie count was low. I found the diet appealing for some other reasons. First, I already ate a low fat diet and felt comfortable doing that. So I didn't have to change that part of my healthy eating. 5 stars (It's, well, easy to digest.) - All jokes aside, while students may gripe about having to shell out the bucks for this textbook, it is well worth the money. I've got an earlier edition and have used it a lot in the past. I found the later editions to be very up to date and quite useful as a reference for some of the clinical questions I encounter while working with patient education issues. In the days of picky insurance reimbursement, it's vital that all the stuff we do be based on sound clinical information showing that what we do is indeed effective. Easy to understand and a well laid-out text with many good illustrations, there's a good reason its a standard in the field. Can also recommend "The No-Beach, No-Zone, No-Nonsense Weight-Loss Plan" as a sound patient education tool on the basics of losing weight that's also evidence-based. 2 stars (A Book Meant to Be Spit Out) - Francis Bacon said that some books are meant to be chewed, some swallowed, and some digested. This book is meant to be spit out. I recently returned to the college classroom as a student of Human Anatomy and of Nutrition (preparing for entrance into a nursing program). For those classes I read, respectively, Marieb's "Human Anatomy and Physiology" and Whitney's "Understanding Nutrition." The contrast between these two widely-used textbooks could not be greater. The one is clearly written, lucidly organized, and filled with revealing graphics; the other is horribly opaque, repetitive and senseless in organization, and replete with distracting charts and photos. Comparisons are odious, so I will just amplify my main points and have done. This book reads as though written by someone who is more anxious to prove the scientific merit of her field or her own expertise in the latest research than by someone interested in helping the reader understand major concepts for further study. 1 stars (negative) - I ordered the 6th edition and received the 5th edition. However, delivery was fast, but i still have to return the book. WOuld recommand everyone to ask a question to the seller before ordering the book just to make sure that the book YOU need is the one Seller is selling! ! Ashtanga Yoga- The Practice Manual- An Illustrated Guide to Personal Practice

4 stars (Clear, concise and almost perfect) - This is an excellent look at Ashtanga Yoga. Swenson uses good descriptions of the asanas and the vinyasas that link them and his analogies are a creative look at Yoga: Standing Series and Finishing series as bread slices in a sandwich, with the Primary Series as the filling in the sandwich; and the idea of a vinyasa as the "etch a sketch" which clears the slate for each new asana, and his "physics of flight" and "ground transportation" as a means to jumping forward. My only wish for the book would be that it would contain a fold-out page with a diagram of the whole series on one page so that it could be a quick reference rather than having to flip from page to page. It would make moving through the series much easier after one has gotten the basics down. Also, (Ok, I have one more wish)I appreciated the break down of the Sanskrit word into meanings, but it would be even better with a pronounciation guide too. Otherwise, it is nearly perfect. 4 stars (You say Ashtanga, I say Astanga) - This book is a classic and David Swenson is well loved by the yoga community. I'll admit that I find the design of the book and the quality of the black and white photos a little too rough and homespun for my tastes. (David did the design and layout himself). But, you can look at the excerpted pages and decide for yourself if production values are of import. Overall, I find David's voice friendly, supportive and unassuming. He does provides alternatives and modifications of poses for lesser able students. This book covers a lot of information, including Primary Series and Intermediate Series. Between owning this book and "Astanga" by Jean Hall (0754810747) which has lots of luscious color photos featuring a variety of models, especially Jean Hall, I have access to a balanced presentation of Astanga. 5 stars (Excellent Reference Book for the Ashtanga Yoga Poses) - This book strikes me as a first rate reference guide to the 1st and 2nd ser...

It is most deeply flawed for its inability to communicate clearly to a lay person. Essentially it is a vocabulary primer of important financial principles and concepts. It requires abstract thinking and the ability to follow mathematical models. This reader studied Cleverly's text as a requirement for a healthcare finance class. The text was frustrating as this reader attempted to "know" everything about healthcare finances; however, this is probably not the intent of the book. It does present a road into the foreign land of finances. It demands respect for another set of data and another language for interpreting that data. One does not master this data set at one pass, however. Nevertheless, this reader did gain some new financial information. At the risk of being simplistic, but communicative; a listing of some of the concepts learned follows: 1. There are many users of financial information. 2. Financial information can guide the formation of programs. 3. Financial management is essential for successful healthcare organizations. 4. Various qualities of health care organization types. 5. How health care organizations make up for discouting and bad debt and capitated payments. 6. General principles of accounting and why they are important. Healing Back Pain - The Mind-Body Connection

5 stars (Sometimes, it is in the mind) - Having tried sports medicine, MRI, and anti-inflamation drugs, I finally began to read Dr. Sarno's book and within days started to feel relief from constant back pain and sciatica. What drew me in was Sarno's understanding of not only what I was going through but also all of the advice I had to that point been given by my doctors. His theory of how the brain mistakenly deprives oxygen seems very valid to me since 6 weeks later I was virtually pain-free. Sometimes back pain is caused by physical defects but sometimes it's caused by the mind. 3 stars (HEALING Bak Pain????!!!!) - This book might be worth considering for anyone who has some kind of a back problem (every third of us?). However, I have an issue with the title of the book as I find it over-promising and misleading. When buying the book one would expect to find solutions for his or her back pain ("Healing Back Pain" is the title!!!) However the book concentrates on only one kind of a back pain, namely one resulting from our suppressing of our feelings and emotions. I am not debating whether Dr. Sarno is right or wrong in his theory, but I am really disappointed in not finding any solution (healing) to a real back problem... As alternative reading I rather suggest "Can We Live 150 Year?" where the author devotes a whole chapter to spine problems and resulting from them diseases. But before you buy this book, better check Amazon's "Search Inside the Book" feature to make sure that you are buying what you really want. 5 stars (Still Going) - It's been six years now and I rarely even think about my back anymore. Belly Laughs- The Naked Truth About Pregnancy and Childbirth

5 stars (Made My Fiancee Laugh!) - I bought this book for my fiancee to help her through her pregnancy. I bought Jenny's book to give her some good natured comic relief from this sometimes difficult period, and it sure worked wonders. She said it was a quick read, but it had her laughing constantly. And she would lend it to her friends when they would need it. Though I bought a few more serious books for more definitive information, this was a great change of pace. I guess I should read it too. Thanks Jenny for putting a few smiles back on my Mommy to Be's face. 5 stars (Best Pregnancy Book For a Laugh) - This was by far my favorite of all the pregnancy books I've read. I was in tears from laughing so hard at numerous points throughout the book. 5 stars (A must read for any "Real" Pregnancy) - I was having a tough time of it during my 4th month of pregnancy. I was still throwing up, my ob wanted me to put on some weight which my husband took as a sign to force feed me, and I had literally 20 emails from extended family giving advice on keeping food down. My favorite "You need to eat more meat, gravy, and potatoes"...An Aunt who is an OB Nurse prescribed this book! The day it arrived, I read it cover to cover! Jenny McCarthy's frankness on pregancy from morning sickeness,sore boobs hemrroids, to fear of "pooing" on the delivery table is a welcome relief for all of us preggos who are sick of hearing about the pregancy glow and know that "What to Expect when you are Expecting" doesn't really cut it! 5 stars (Great reference book) - I am a yoga and Pilates instructor, and have always wanted a guide to understand the anatomy of all the poses, especially those concerning lower back issues. Now I have a great guide that helps me aproach these poses in a much safer way. 5 stars (Should be Required for Yoga Teachers!) - I'm currently in training to be a yoga teacher, and this book is required reading for my courses. It really goes into detail, as it applies to yoga postures and breathing. It's a must-have for the serious yoga student or teacher. It will help you make the most of your postures, and understand the mechanics involved.
