5 stars (MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, Sixth Edition) - This book will take you step by step on how to write a research paper. The topics are listed at the beginning of each parragraph. Some of the paragraphs have the main points and highlights at the end. It's a great book to have handy. 5 stars (MLA Handbook for writers of Research Papers, sixth editions) - An excellent overall guide for writing research papers. I highly recommend this product for all college and college-bound students. What a remarkable way to display and work with the English Language. 5 stars (Must have...) - This is a very important handbook for English Graduate students, especially since professors expect only the best papers from their students at this level. The layout is very simple and it covers almost everything. I like how it goes into punctuation issues; I always have trouble remembering when to use semi-colons versus commas. I'm probably still using them wrong. There are a few grammer issues I wish they'd include, such as "who" versus "whom," but overall most everything is covered. ...

Hodges- Harbrace Handbook

5 stars (Hodges' Harbrace Handbook) - I've been using this handbook for about 25 years, and recently realized that my edition was the 3rd, published in the 1970s! So I ordered the latest edition (14th edition), and was so pleased with my purchase. This is a handbook that lives in our office, and gets used to death (we do graphic design, copywriting, editing). Any new employee on our staff is required to at least become familiar with the table of contents (in case of emergency!), and very soon they too are heading for Harbrace's to look up something. We love it. 5 stars (The Guide for American English) - It never ceases to amaze me how many times some ... grammarian tries to correct my writing only to review my Harbrace College Handbook to see they're wrong and I'm right. This is the definitive guide to American English grammar. Easy to read, plenty of examples, and more importantly it even covers those gray areas of usage letting the ready know this non-standard without simply cutting you off without explanation. I have purchased the latest edition ever since I purchased my first copy as text to Advanced Composition during my undergraduate days at the University of Maryland University College. Harbrace as served me very well ever since helping me obtain a high GPA in regards to my written assignments. The book is organized logically and systematically, making it easy to find the information you need in its 130-odd pages. I have plenty of experience in vending and knew 98% of the contents and so, for me, it was not worth the $15 I paid. The politically correct use of "she" and "hers" was also a distraction. An overview of the Vending market was missing and there is no list of references for the reader to do his own research. So, the E-book is good for rookies but people already familiar with the business do not need it. ...

5 stars (Very entertaining and a wonderful price tag!) - This book is simply awesome! I am an easily distracted reader and I haven't read a book cover to cover since I was a little kid. This book was so great I read it in less than thirty minutes! Everything you ever wanted to know about extreme survival situtations is included. If it's not, it's probably in another one of the Worst Case Scenario series. 4 stars (Don't Leave Home Without It) - "The indispensable, indestructible guide for surviving life's sudden turns for the worse. Survival experts provide illustrated, step-by-step instructions on what you need to know fast: how to fend off a shark, how to take a punch, how to deliver a baby in a taxicab, how to survive a poisonous snake attack, how to jump from a moving care, how to identify a bomb, how to escape killer bees, how to survive if your parachute fails to open, and dozens of other dire situations." What more could you want? Just don't try this at home. 3 stars (Interesting, but too short and thus overpriced) - Disregarding the probability of your engagement into those life and death scenarios (unless you are Bond or Bourne), the topics are very interesing. Please read the "See sample pages" for a quick look of what those "tips" refer to. However, I have a serious complaint about it. There are only 40 "How to" in this handy book. For the price of it, 40 more should be included. I didnt suppose to pay nearly fifteen bucks for a book which I could finish within an hour. ...

25 Shoto-Kan Kata

5 stars (Comprehensive and useful) - This kata manual has taken me through blackbelt. The illustrations show the moves, the timing line shows the speed and focus of each move. The number of kata represented, 25, makes this an excellent value. WHat may put some readers off is the use of japanese terms for various moves, but I find it fun to know. Also helpful is the translation to spanish. 5 stars (The best book to get a fast start on any kata) - Many people, especially beginners, have a problem picking up moves of a kata from somebody else (your sensei) performance. This book gives an excellent head start on most popular katas and enormously shortens the learning curve. Pictures in the book show exactly the right amount of details to minimize a confusion and emphasize moves and stances. 5 stars (Outstanding Reference Work) - Shojiro Sugiyama has produced one of the most useful reference books on shotokan karate available. Each kata movement is clearly described. The sketches are very helpful. This is a great book! ...

Taj Burrow-s Book of Hot Surfing

5 stars (Great) - This is hands down the best book on surfing I have ever read. Lots of helpful photos and explanations. Highly recommended. 5 stars (Great Book from a Great Surfer) - Great info that goes far beyond the regular "Learn to Surf" books. A lot of Taj slang & surf jargon but those who've been surfing for some time can really benefit from the advanced techniques & descriptions from a pro.
