Humorous Greeting Card Factory

1 stars (disappointed) - This program is not user friendly and the cards are not really that funny. 5 stars (great for a laugh) - This program is great! I have an american greeting software that doesn't even come close to this program! I made a humorous card for for my mother that she absolutely LOVED it (getting a smile out of mom's face is a task) The only issue I had was i recieved an error while trying to download it to my system. I called tech support, and was up and running in 5 min. My overall experiance with the software and company has ben extreamly refreshing 2 stars (Humorus Greeting Card Factory) - I suppose my expectations were too high for this software, because I don't like it at all. Too much clicking back and back, and not enough cards to choose from. ...

Mentor

1 stars (Orphanware!) - This is a product from a company that no longer exists. The lack of a parent company means: 1. you cannot register your purchase 2. you cannot get "the latest version" as you are told to do by every writable surface within this box 3. there is no "24/7" support 4. you are better off tossing your money down a rat hole ...

Rosetta Stone Hebrew Personal Edition Level 1

5 stars (Works great as a Review) - I studied Hebrew in college for 2 years, so I cannot comment on using this software as the primary way to learn Hebrew. I bought this program because I wanted to review Hebrew and improve my understanding of the language. I found it did just that. It works very well when used as a review for somebody who has already taken some Hebrew classes and is familiar with Hebrew grammar. I can understand Hebrew better than I did in college. I also picked up some new vocabulary. The downside is that you have to repeat drills for each lesson. However, it tends to sink in ratherly naturally after a while. There really is no easy way to learn a foreign language, but I think using this program on a continuous basis does help (at least in improving understanding). This program would greatly complement a beginning Hebrew class if grammar lessons were developed around the software's curriculum. 5 stars (great for learning to understand by hearing and seeing) - I began studying hebrew 2 years ago, but with only occasional classes, I found that I understood very little in conversation. This software helped me begin to do that. It has 8 'chapters', each with 11 or 12 'lessons'. The vocabulary starts out easy and slowly becomes more difficult. At the end, the vocabulary is probably intermediate level. Within each lesson is 10 sets of 4 pictures. A statement is said aloud (there is also an option for reading only), and you click on the appropriate picture. It seems rather simplistic, but it really helps in understanding the language and associating the words and phrases with the actions being depicted. Overall, excellent. My big regret is that they do not have a level II. 5 stars (Learn Hebrew easily!) - I teach a special education program in a Hebrew day school. I use this program to introduce my students to Hebrew language. It works! Even if a child cannot yet read, he or she can still learn the language by connecting the words th...

Spelling Puzzles 1

5 stars (School Zone does it again!) - School Zone's Spelling Puzzles CD-Rom is an excellent home teaching aid. It features 30 different spelling worksheets. The program grades the child's work, tracks the child's progress and allows the child to correct answers. The worksheets are interspersed with humorous cartoons of 'cheerleaders' doing victory dances and making encouraging comments. In between worksheets, the child plays one of three computer games. My child became very excited about this program and completed the worksheets at a single sitting. I am duly impressed -- this CD is very well done. School Zone should be proud of itself. The worksheets themselves are very similar to the printed paper worksheets used in first grade classrooms. My son shows almost no interest in the paper worksheets handed out at his school but eagerly attacks School Zone's electronic version. This proves, once again, that inspired packaging and presentation make a difference. 4 stars (Fun program) - This game is really fun. It's not particularly deep, but it gets kids practising spelling and reading in a very exciting (not overstimulating) environment. The game contains sets of 30 worksheets that kids fill in, and they get rewarded with games (that are hard to master, but the challenge is actually motivating). Good, especially for the price, and there's a workbook included with the CD-ROM. ...

Command and Conquer Generals- Zero Hour Expansion Pack

5 stars (pretty darn good) - This is a good expansion pack... the Challenge mode is very cool... you pick the personality of your general, then you pick the personality of the general you want to fight against. When then game begins, you can hear the general from the other team laughing at your mistakes, and he's usually right. Very interesting and fun to play. Don't play this game on a night before you have to go to work, because you will probably lose track of time by having such a blast. But there is a downside... The user interface is still the same old interface that takes up too much space on the screen. And perhaps most annoying: Any time you get a mission report, you have to wait and wait and wait to see the pop-up descriptions when you are trying to chose which unit(s) you want to build. And speaking of waiting... if you want to restart a mission, you have to sit through the introduction video, and you can't skip past it. Hopefully the next version of C&C will fix these oversights. 4 stars (Wonderful endeed but...) - Anyone who bought and enjoyed the original CandC: Generals won't go far wrong doing the same again with this expansion. Your money buys you another 15 single player missions all complete with new units, a `challenge' scenario where you can choose a general that suits your style of play and put him up against 8 others as well as the usual skirmish and multiplay modes. The graphics and sound are excellent, as could be expected from a developer of this pedigree, with the cut scenes giving a truly professional feel to the whole experience. Explosions and animation are superb, I particularly like the way bodies fly through the air as a bunker is blown up, and the screams of anguish as troopers die a painful chemical death never fails to bring a smile (I know, I'm a sick git). Gameplay is fluid, albeit a little slow in places, while it should also be noted that he who rules the skies, wins (99 times out of 100 anyway). The GLA missions a...

The PrintShop 20

1 stars (lame program) - I had none of the reported loading problems [I run XP], my complaint is about the artwork and design programs.[1]There is no command to layer - "bring to front" or "send to back" - so you have to put things on your project in order [that is,if you decide that your text would look better on a colored background you have to start over]. [2] The supplied art work is the very poorest kind of clip art - just plain crappy looking - and hard to sort through. Why go to all the bother of making projects on the computer if they end up looking like they were made by a none-too-talented third-grader? 2 stars ((2.5) User-friendly but with a caveat) - This is the most cost-effective, user friendly program I have found for designing quick logos, letterheads and brochures, this latest version made more accessible because the extra disks are compacted into one. The program offers a great variety of images on every subject, with more available online (for an additional price). However, the greatest complaint is still unanswered...there is virtually no online help available when contacting Broderbund. If a program isn't backed up by online help, the user must consider this when buying the program in the first place. Of course, when I purchased The Printshop from a discount store, I had no idea of the difficulty in using online resources. On the other hand, the program is quite simple and self-explanatory, so there is little need for extra support. There is an advanced drawing feature that I would like to learn, but the program help does little to guide me through the steps and I cannot navigate anything without some specific direction. Program designers don't seem to be aware of such elementary design flaws, assuming a base knowledge which may not exist. I bought a simple program because of my limited knowledge, expecting a certain degree of guidance through the basics. Broderbund's Printshop offers this assistance, but only to a very limited degree. Wha...

Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3- Battle for Europe

3 stars (Looks fun but it's not.) - The controls are really frigid and it's not very fun. It's so realistic that it's boring. The game will let you fly in virtual reality for hours before reaching a target just as a real fighter pilot would have done except there is a warp feature which will cut the time down. You will still run out of fuel lots of times before you figure out what speeds are appropriate. It's a very complicated game and is not really very fun. There must be better flight simulation games than this. I gave it a 1 on the fun scale, but overall it's a well designed game and is the most realistic I've ever played. If the graphics were better I would have rated it as a 4 overall. 4 stars (Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 3) - First of all I would like all those concerned to know that this game runs perfectly on WINDOWS XP!! 1.( Selective Startup)2.(Shuting down your Firewalls and Antivirus)3.(Disk cleanup Disk Defrag.)You have to educate yourself on all the little tricks that help the game run. Also don't foget to install any patches that are available for the game, they make a world of difference. You can't just put the game in without the proper preparation and expect it to run flawlessly. My computer,Windows XP Home Edition,Dimension 3000,Pentium 4,(3GHZ),512MB DDR SDRAM at 400MHZ,80GB Hard Drive, Intel video driver 82865G.Nothing Special!!!!! The game is GREAT and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! 1 stars (Stiffed) - Don't buy it. We own a new Sony VAIO with a 2 Gig processor and 500 Gig hard drive, and the game won't run. Tried all the MS online fixes and recommendations...and the opening video plays...and the screen locks. I also own FS 2000 and Combat FS on this machine...which both work fine. The MS online help is available for a price that equals the cost of the game. Look, I'm probably commiting Operator Error and I'm not aware of the fix. So be it. After two days of this nonsens...

Educator-s Choice Middle School Excelerator Grades 7-10

5 stars (A good value for the money) - My daughter enjoyed this program. She learned a lot of different words. The animations are clever and she enjoyed completing the spaceship to get Quixel home. This is a good program to build a foreign language vocabulary. 1 stars (Beware!) - I thought this would be good for my students until I tried it out myself. First I tried the Italian. When I discovered that they translated "potato chips" as "microchips", I was surprised. In telling time, they expressed the correct feminine plural but displayed the incorrect masculine singular "il due" for 2:00. Now for the French...I learned that "potato chips" were "eclats" as in "paint chips". Wrong chips both times folks - and good luck in a restaurant! I stopped there. It's a shame they never got a native speaker to check it before releasing this as an educational item. They did get native speakers to read aloud the vocab lists however. That's the one-star part. ...

Buy it now! Reader Rabbit 2nd Grade 2002

5 stars (Works with Special Needs Kids) - I was amazed that after only about 2 weeks of playing with this, my 2 year old son was actually able to figure out the games. He has severe language difficulties, sensory issues and behavior problems. Usually he could not sit long enough to play a computer game because there was not enough interaction for him. He loves this game and points to the computer all the time to try to tell me he wants to play. He is actually trying to "count" to 5 with the game and "sing" (in his own gibber-jabber language)some of the songs. There is no exact mouse clicking to frustrate him. Anything close works! This is an awesome game for toddlers to feel like the big kids and not be frustrated. 4 stars (Fun program, nice songs) - It is quite a stretch to call this 'pre-school'. My 4 year old quickly became bored with it, and the math sequence is interminable and goes on for what seems like forever. My 2 1/2 year old took to the challenges more readily, learning mouse skills, colors and shapes, and some basic words. This doesn't attempt to teach reading or the alphabet. The whole story about 'Pirats' (sic) - space faring rats - is rather fun, and my kids really enjoyed the songs 1 stars (Reader Rabbit Kindergarten v1.1) - I couldn't get this to run on my XP machine. The technical support on the web site was useless, and there is no human technical support available for this product. My 5-year-old (who loved RR Baby and Toddler) called it a piece of junk. ...

Nancy Drew- Secret of the Scarlet Hand

5 stars (Great ) - THis game was so much fun! it is long but one of the best games i have ever played! 5 stars (Secrets Can Kill (12 year old)) - I've read the book on secrets can kill, it's very good, surprisingly the game was as good! You're undercover Nancy Drew trying to solve a mystery at a small high school in Florida, with a big murder mystery of a boy named Jake, your contact is Daryl, there a puzzles to solve and you'll find each of the suspects have a secret, later in the game you'll find out that Jake silenced them by making them be his servants. Anyways I didn't really have much patience as a detective (it would take me hours just to find the clues) so i usually go for help from the websites, uhs is a really good one, it just tells you where the puzzles are and what you have to do to get to the end but it doesn't totally help you figure out the puzzles, and it doesn't tell you who the murderer is. Anyway I really enjoyed this game it's the second Nancy Drew game I've played besides final scene. WARNING: the characters are two d, i know very disappointing but it's still a very good game. Well I won't give any clues away so you'll just have to figure them out :) (or get some online help ;)) Find the murdererm but don't get murdered yourself, and if you do there's always a second chance. 5 stars (secret of the scarlet hand is very GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) - I love the nancy drew games they are always really good and this 1 was 1 of the best!!If get this nancy drew game u will not be dissapointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...

Command - Conquer- Generals

1 stars (I'm going back to RA2) - I was waiting a while for this game's price to go down, playing Red Alert 2 in order to get pumped for Generals. I thoroughly enjoyed RA2 and Yuri's Revenge, because the story was excellent and the graphics made it possible to at least tell what unit you were looking at without clicking on it. Maybe I was just expecting too much when I put Generals in my CD tray. Now I don't have a high-end PC by any means, but Generals should have run fine on my PC, and it did. The reason this game is so slow is not because I don't meet the requirements, it is because the units were programmed by the developers to move slowly in order to create that "realistic" effect. Anyone who has played RA2 will know what I'm talking about. Remember how you could go into the options menu to change the game speed (slow, fast, faster, fastest)? Well, with Generals, its is like the game is stuck on slow all the time, and it's not because you don't meet the requirements. If you can get past the slow pacing of the game, wait until it is in the bargain bin to buy it, because it will set you back a pretty penny with not much reward if you don't. 5 stars (Yuri has his own game) - Yuri is the bad guy in this game. I do wish you can use his army to win the whole but you can only pick the American or the Soviet Union. The only way you can shoose to be Yuri's army is playing the skirmish game, those are just parctices. Their's no two seperate disc. I wish the story line in this game was a bit longer just like the (Red Alert 2) game. The Russions have a new sidekick name Boris, he can call an air strike by point a red lazer at a target when it turns red the air craft comes and hit's it plus he is a fast shooter with his machine gun. I really love fighting in Egypt if you distroy the pyramids a walking mummy comes out. In Hollywood celebrities will help you fight the enemy. The part I thought was most cool is this giant machine that Yuri uses to mind control people once it d...

Instant Immersion Hawaiian Deluxe

5 stars (Awesome Teaching Tool) - This is an excellent teaching tool for those who are unfamiliar with the language, especially since it gives a phonetic voice to the words, one gets the correct emphesis on the word so as not to confuse one word for another's meaning. 5 stars (Great for learning) - I knew some Hawaiian words, but since I have received this my family and I have learned whole lot more. This program makes it easy to learn Hawaiian words for both adults and kids. The children love it and it seems to makes them want to know more about their heritage. If I had to learn any other languages I'd surely use the Instant Immersion software to learn it. ...

Punch- Master Landscape - Home Design

1 stars (Not recommended) - I bought this software for my husband a year ago because we wanted to be able to put a photo of our house into the landscape plan. We have yet to figure it out. The manual is the size of a text book. The software is not user friendly. If you have lots of free time to learn how to use it, this software might be a good tool. I am not impressed. 1 stars (I got Punched) - I ordered this software to help me design my backyard. It was way too difficult to use. Trying to look at my project from different angles was impossible. I sent in my rebate last September and have not recieved my check. I went online to see what is going with my rebate and it claims my check has already been sent. There is no date of when the rebate was sent so I guess it is the old "Checks in the mail" answer. If you want to keep your sanity "DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT". I only gave them 1 star because it did install and this site doesn't have a 0 star selection. 1 stars (This has got to be the worst garden design software around) - I purchased this product last week in order to complete a garden design for a client who wished to see various 3D views. In my previous job I used AutoCAD and TurboCAD, so am no novice when it comes to computer-aided design. I feel that this product is slickly packaged fluff - I would be very surprised indeed if a qualified horticulturalist or garden designer was in any way involved in the design. Firstly, the site layout tool is fairly easy to use, allowing you to get the basic plot onto your plan. From there on though, things begin to go awry. There is a very poor selction of fence styles etc, but to custom draw your own is extremely cumbersome, using a clumsily designed and rather archaic 3D-Custom builder, which you must swap into and out of. In addition, the selection of styles for hard-landscaping surfaces is very limited, meaning you can only render a vague idea of the actual finish you are looking for. Finally, on the hard-land...

Rand McNally StreetFinder - TripMaker Deluxe

1 stars (rand-mcnally tripmaker) - This is a piece of crap. You'll be better off with a CAA map and a pencil. 1 stars (No help available) - I picked up this software out of curiousity; already own Delorme Earthmate 2003, which is not real-time capable without a co-driver. This software is simply not capable at all. For example, I am looking at a street in the Baltimore area, 3615 Campfield Road, in street finder. I click the "Find" menu item and enter "Campfield Road" and "Baltimore" and I get the message, "No matches found" when I click, "Find Now." Whahuh? Going to the Rand McNally website does little good; there is no NO! customer support for this software. It seems that Rand McNally had made a "strategic decision" to let this product die. I will be returning the product to the vendor tomorrow with my complaints to try and swap it (and ten more bucks) for the recent Delorme product. Stay tuned. 1 stars (Awful waste of money) - I intended to buy MS Streets and Trips 2005. I'd used the 2002 and 2003 versions and wanted to upgrade. I saw the SteetFinder and TripMaker Deluxe offering and decided to give it a go. One word can describe this product - AWFUL. The first thing you notice is the clunky interface. Rand McNally may have a history of making great maps, but they can't write software. The interface is totally unfamiliar to anyone used to the standard Windows interface. I'm an IT technician, I work with all sorts of different software packages from different vendors, but this was without doubt the worse interface I have ever seen. The map looks great when the program first opens, but as soon as you zoom in the nice topo detail is lost. There is no option to display the map in topo / road detail as you get with Steets and Trips. The GPS navigator was a deciding factor in getting this software. If that alone had worked well I'd have been happy. Unfortunately it doesn't work well at all. Sure it will track your GPS position and give voice prompts as you dr...

Persian Tutor Jewel Case

1 stars (Avoid - doesn't run on Linux) - This might be the most wonderful piece of software in the world, but if it doesn't run on Linux, it's useless to many of us (including me) who have no access to Windows. Most Windows software (MS Office, Photoshop, etc) runs just fine on Linux, but for some reason, this one doesn't. I'm going to look for something else. 1 stars (Don't buy) - This product should be titled "Waste of 40 dollars". I have wasted 3 hours of my life that I will never get back. If you want your money's worth- this is not the product for you. If you want meaningless garbage on cd - contact me and I will custom make one for you - much cheaper. 1 stars (Absolute garbage) - Not only is this product a piece of garbage, it is made by a very horrible teacher. Its an all around waste of money. The program itself is outdated, slow and follows no real logic. Checking into a hotel or restaurant at a Persian city??? Ok, maybe for the retarded. The only good thing about this program is that its on cd. That means that it can fly a lot farther when you realize the mistake you have made. ...
