1 stars (Is this for Real????????) - To Follow All THe Advice Of This Author. You Would Have to Live The Rest of You're Life In a PLASTIC BUBBLE. This guy should be arrested for writing this B.S. and ripping buyers off. 1 stars (Scam artist) - How can this guy convince people that he holds the cures to diseases and ailments and then get them to fork over money to be enlightened? I had to talk my girlfrineds mother out of buying this turd. The guy is an admitted felon and con-artist and still people send him money. It's sad that he can pray on the fears of the general public and create more disinformation on the pharmaceutical industry. He's an oportunistic bottom feeder out to make a quick buck on fear and false hope. I think there is a place for alternative medicine but his book contains no real information and worse yet, dangerous information. I hope there is a special place in hell for folks like him 2 stars (Read first - Buy next) - I think this book is not as bad as some portray it. Some of the reviews here are on the edge of being hateful, and I think it's wrong. A review should be about the contents of the book, not about the way one feels about the author. I bought the book and I did find some useful info about alternative medicine. There is also lots of insight about the way big money influences the decision making of FDA. Having said all that, I must admit that I have expected much more from "Natural Cures". No doubt Kevin Trudeau is a good promoter. He is so convincing in his infomercials that it is really hard not to buy the products he advertises. However, the book is everything else but what one would expect to get judging by the title and the infomercial. Supposedly I would get a lot more at the authors' website. He constantly refers to his website where one supposedly would get full explanation for various topics. The only problem is that no one can get any explanation free of charge. The Complete German Commission E Monographs- Therapeutic Guide to Herbal Medicines

4 stars (Important work if one understands its place) - This is an important work, helping to document the validity of herbal medicine. However, it is not an all-encompassing work and obviously isn't referenced. Nevertheless, the German Commission E's method of publishing monographs based on the information gathered from companies, researchers, and practitioners (but apparently kept confidential) serves a useful purpose. It is always helpful to consult this text to get some solid conformation for common traditional uses. Every practitioner and researcher should have this book, though it certainly cannot be used in a vacuum. 2 stars (Huge Disappointment!) - I had hoped this book could be my benchmark for herbal information. What I found was a book that was hard to use with little useful information. ... Otherwise, Facts and Comparisions' Review of Natural Products is a better choice. 5 stars (The Most Solid and Dependable Work on the Market) - I have worked with herbs for many decades and have shelves and shelves full of works on Herbs and Healing. The German Commission E Monographs is still an often used Reference that in my oppinion belongs on everyone's shelf who works with Herbs. True, it does not cover all that the herbs are capable of and due to lack of proof, many wonderful herbs are not approved, BUT, and this is most important, whatever you find in this book is scientifically proven and you can believe it. I VERY strongly recomend this book, and the CD as well. Whenever you explore a new herb, or need to know facts, check it out in the Commission E Monographs. Then you have a very good outline from where you can start to work with, and together with other herbals get to know and experiment to arrive at your own conclusion. And that is not to mention the inclusion of interaction with other drugs, side effects, mode of administration, active composition for each monograph and different chapters that cover all that is important. A MUST for every practition...

5 stars (Well Done!) - This book is the best of it's kind. It is simple and to the point. It's going to change the way I approach shopping for clothes. Stacy and Clinton work to make people look good no matter what their shape or weight or height or figure flaws. When I saw some of the pictures of people (in their underwear) I thought, "No way are they going to make this person look good!" But I was wrong every single time. The people look good. They look together. It made me feel good just to see the change. What I think Stacy and Clinton are about is that they want people to feel good about their bodies no matter what(or where) their problem areas are. What they show us in this book is that we all really can have our "outsides" match our "insides." 5 stars (Stacy and Clinton Don't Disappoint) - I was thrilled to see the American hosts of What Not To Wear co authored a book. The show is fabulous and the book lives up to that standard. First, the book helps you identify your body type not by using some fruit or obscure geometric shape but real world identifiers. The guidelines they use are so simple they make sense for those of us not so handy with a tape measure. Also, the book does not assume every one who is petite is a size 6. Guidelines are given for a variety of shapes, sizes and heights. It also shows you how to dress for work, play and formal occasions. My absolute favorite part is the pictures in the back of the book that show and tell (some fashion books assume you know what a bolero jacket looks like). No assumptions are made here this book provides pictures for everything the authors talk about or recommend which to me makes perfect sense. Fashion is so visual and at last there is a fashion book with actual pictures of real people wearing the right clothes instead of 3 or 4 cartoon drawings that supposedly represent human body shapes or pictures of the same two people who supposedly represent every figure flaw or asset. 1 stars (eye opening book) - very informative book. this kind of information will not be found in pharma sponsored publications. you owe it to yourself to pick this one up. 5 stars (This book saved my life) - Notice how all the negative reviews are from people who haven't even tried using the information in the book to cure themselves? Bunch of cynics and skeptics who would negate the book no matter what information it contains, because they think they're working for A Current Affair or something. Meanwhile, they're missing out on the most amazing book I've ever read. I am one of the world's biggest skeptics, I am an agnostic, I don't follow any religion, I don't believe in "new-agey" remedies, I don't believe in fate; I believe in science, not superstition. That's the point, this is not some crackpot or new-agey theory, everything stated by Dr Clark makes perfect scientific sense. I hadn't even read the book and I tried the "zapper" not expecting anything and actually hoping to discount it, but it instantly nearly cured me of manic depression and the constant flu-like / CFS symptoms I had been dealing with for years. As I continued the treatment, in conjunction with having all my mercury amalgam fillings removed, my situation continued to improve to the point where I can now live a totally normal life. Before starting Dr Clark's treatments, I couldn't even work a regular job and was sick, exhausted and depressed all the time. This is the most important book I have ever read and it saved my life! Ashtanga Yoga- The Practice Manual- An Illustrated Guide to Personal Practice

4 stars (Clear, concise and almost perfect) - This is an excellent look at Ashtanga Yoga. Swenson uses good descriptions of the asanas and the vinyasas that link them and his analogies are a creative look at Yoga: Standing Series and Finishing series as bread slices in a sandwich, with the Primary Series as the filling in the sandwich; and the idea of a vinyasa as the "etch a sketch" which clears the slate for each new asana, and his "physics of flight" and "ground transportation" as a means to jumping forward. My only wish for the book would be that it would contain a fold-out page with a diagram of the whole series on one page so that it could be a quick reference rather than having to flip from page to page. It would make moving through the series much easier after one has gotten the basics down. Also, (Ok, I have one more wish)I appreciated the break down of the Sanskrit word into meanings, but it would be even better with a pronounciation guide too. Otherwise, it is nearly perfect. 4 stars (You say Ashtanga, I say Astanga) - This book is a classic and David Swenson is well loved by the yoga community. I'll admit that I find the design of the book and the quality of the black and white photos a little too rough and homespun for my tastes. (David did the design and layout himself). But, you can look at the excerpted pages and decide for yourself if production values are of import. Overall, I find David's voice friendly, supportive and unassuming. He does provides alternatives and modifications of poses for lesser able students. This book covers a lot of information, including Primary Series and Intermediate Series. Between owning this book and "Astanga" by Jean Hall (0754810747) which has lots of luscious color photos featuring a variety of models, especially Jean Hall, I have access to a balanced presentation of Astanga. 5 stars (Excellent Reference Book for the Ashtanga Yoga Poses) - This book strikes me as a first rate reference guide to the 1st and 2nd ser...

1 stars (negative) - I ordered the 6th edition and received the 5th edition. However, delivery was fast, but i still have to return the book. WOuld recommand everyone to ask a question to the seller before ordering the book just to make sure that the book YOU need is the one Seller is selling! ! It sucks when you receive a wrong book and have a quiz next day in the class ! ! 1 stars (BORING!) - This book is dull and boring....in fact, I would never have purchased it if it wasn't required for my college class. Everything in here is common sense or if you watch the news, you all ready know everything presented. I started reading the first chapter and it completely put me to sleep, now when preping for a test, I mearly browse through the book and read the required definitions that will be on the test. 4 stars (A helpful book on maintaining a healthy life) - The reason that I purchased the book was because of the health class I was taking at college. As I read through the chapters, they really interest me, and remind me of little things that I have always tend to forget. There are no big theories in the book, just simple "life little reminders". When I purchased this book, it also comes with a workbook, which contains review and practice tests to help you to reinforce the ideas. The book helps me to correct some of my daily bad habbits. And even the class is over now, I still read the book sometime to learn more. Healing Back Pain - The Mind-Body Connection

5 stars (Sometimes, it is in the mind) - Having tried sports medicine, MRI, and anti-inflamation drugs, I finally began to read Dr. Sarno's book and within days started to feel relief from constant back pain and sciatica. What drew me in was Sarno's understanding of not only what I was going through but also all of the advice I had to that point been given by my doctors. His theory of how the brain mistakenly deprives oxygen seems very valid to me since 6 weeks later I was virtually pain-free. Sometimes back pain is caused by physical defects but sometimes it's caused by the mind. 3 stars (HEALING Bak Pain????!!!!) - This book might be worth considering for anyone who has some kind of a back problem (every third of us?). However, I have an issue with the title of the book as I find it over-promising and misleading. When buying the book one would expect to find solutions for his or her back pain ("Healing Back Pain" is the title!!!) However the book concentrates on only one kind of a back pain, namely one resulting from our suppressing of our feelings and emotions. I am not debating whether Dr. Sarno is right or wrong in his theory, but I am really disappointed in not finding any solution (healing) to a real back problem... As alternative reading I rather suggest "Can We Live 150 Year?" where the author devotes a whole chapter to spine problems and resulting from them diseases. 5 stars (It's, well, easy to digest.) - All jokes aside, while students may gripe about having to shell out the bucks for this textbook, it is well worth the money. I've got an earlier edition and have used it a lot in the past. I found the later editions to be very up to date and quite useful as a reference for some of the clinical questions I encounter while working with patient education issues. In the days of picky insurance reimbursement, it's vital that all the stuff we do be based on sound clinical information showing that what we do is indeed effective. Easy to understand and a well laid-out text with many good illustrations, there's a good reason its a standard in the field. Can also recommend "The No-Beach, No-Zone, No-Nonsense Weight-Loss Plan" as a sound patient education tool on the basics of losing weight that's also evidence-based. 2 stars (A Book Meant to Be Spit Out) - Francis Bacon said that some books are meant to be chewed, some swallowed, and some digested. This book is meant to be spit out. I recently returned to the college classroom as a student of Human Anatomy and of Nutrition (preparing for entrance into a nursing program). For those classes I read, respectively, Marieb's "Human Anatomy and Physiology" and Whitney's "Understanding Nutrition." The contrast between these two widely-used textbooks could not be greater. The one is clearly written, lucidly organized, and filled with revealing graphics; the other is horribly opaque, repetitive and senseless in organization, and replete with distracting charts and photos. Comparisons are odious, so I will just amplify my main points and have done. This book reads as though written by someone who is more anxious to prove the scientific merit of her field or her own expertise in the latest research than by someone interested in helping the reader understand major concepts for further study. 2 stars (Disappointed) - My opinion is the food plan will work but this book is not laid out well. I found myself going back and forth trying to locate the info I needed. The book refers to info in previous written books which I do not own. This info should be included in this book! The first 4 chapters tend to cover the science aspect of the diet...For me a simple statement would do since I don't have any interest in the rest or even understand most of it to be simply honest. Moving ahead...I did begin the cleanse process, only using 1 of the supplements suggested...(taking herbal la'xs 3 'xs daily is not healthy in my opinion so I chose not to use that portion of the cleanse) I did lose 6.5# my first week. Even though I have had success with the cleanse part of the diet, I am disappointed in the book as a whole. 4 stars (GOOD INFORMATION FOR DETOXING AND FOR CHOOSING WATER) - I LIKED THIS BOOK, I HAVE BEEN STUDYING HEALTH AND NUTRITION FOR OVER 20 YEARS. Now I have a great guide that helps me aproach these poses in a much safer way. 5 stars (Should be Required for Yoga Teachers!) - I'm currently in training to be a yoga teacher, and this book is required reading for my courses. It really goes into detail, as it applies to yoga postures and breathing. It's a must-have for the serious yoga student or teacher. It will help you make the most of your postures, and understand the mechanics involved. It will also help you explain and cue poses if you are a yoga instructor. 5 stars (Amazing) - This book is simply a treasure. Full of hard to find information you probably wont find anywhere else. Body for Life- 12 Weeks to Mental and Physical Strength

4 stars (Thank you Bill) - The approach presented by Bill Phillips in "Body for Life" worked fine for me. However, the problem is that you have to have a real commitment and a really strong will power to follow the regime presented by the author. Also, in my opinion, there is too much focus on the looks and too little on the health. I think the latter is more important than the former. I have recently found a book that shifts the attention more towards health and overall wellbeing and it gives you no trouble whatsoever to follow simple rules for food combinations, body cleansing etc. Although I have a lot of respect for Bill Phillips as my first coach I think that "Can We Live 150 Year"s is a superior book to "Body for Life". Sorry Bill. 5 stars (My second copy of this book!) - A terrific book and a great program. This book is actually my second copy, since my first copy completely fell apart after so much use. It is truly a fantastic way to get in shape. I had suffered a couple of serious injuries and have been unable to work out much for the last year, but before the injuries I was well on my way to transforming my body for life. Now, I'm mended and ready to start all over again. It's amazing to see how quickly this program changes your body - with much less effort and sacrifice than a lot of other "get fit quick" programs. The eating for life portion of the book is a little tough to follow at times, since I do enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine now and then, but I just modify it, work out a little harder and enjoy my little treat now and then anyway. The free day allows you to eat whatever you want once a week so you don't feel too deprived, but I found that after you start seeing the changes in your body, you'll be reluctant to just pig out. It's nice to treat yourself without feeling guilty. Pain Free - A Revolutionary Method for Stopping Chronic Pain

5 stars (Success with "Pain Free" by Pete Egoscue) - After two years of listening to my friends rave about diminishing the pain from sports injuries with the Egoscue exercises, I finally purchased my own copy. I was amazed at how easy the exercises are, and neck and shoulder pain I had for years diminished after only 10 days. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a drug free way to conquer pain. 5 stars (Really Works -- say goodbye to chronic pain) - Egoscue says that most chronic pain is caused by poor posture and poor body mechanics (e.g., moving wrong). The solution -- a set of stretches that teach you good posture and good body mechanics. These "E-cises" are gentle and easy to perform. They do take a bit of time, 10 to 90 min depending on your problem, but the results are amazing. Everyone I've convinced to actually sit down and do E-cises for their chronic pain problem has experienced noticable improvement after just one session: weak knees, aching wrists, sore ancles, stiff neck & shoulders, headaches, and more. If you have any sort of nagging discomfort, even a minor one, give "Pain Free" a try. You'll be pleasantly surprised! Egoscue also has a radio program Saturday mornings in Colorado, which is how I first heard of this book, and clinics where you can get a personalized E-cise plan. 5 stars (Amazing Book, it really works!) - The book is amazing. I have a really bad back from working jobs standing on my feet all day. Someone told me about this book at work and I now do the exercises daily. The exercises require no stretching, 30-40 minutes only. The exercises use gravity to pull your body back into it's functional state. Using the book is like going to a chiropractor every day, only it does not cost several hundred dollars. Dr. Pete Egoscue is truly an amazing human being for sharing his knowledge. Treat Your Own Back

5 stars (Here's what I thought....) - Book discusses a very specific way of treating back pain. In short, you do these backward bending motions which is suppose to have an effect on the discs in your spine. In addition, you sit up straight and watch your posture. All in all, it didn't help me much, but I do know many people it has helped- so I say give it a try. Also liked "Treat Your Own Knees" if you have knee pain. 5 stars (i am taking responsibility for my back) - until now i have been dependent on my osteopath to fix me......this is a helpful book...i have spent a great deal of money on dr. and massage therapist treatment until......i found a percussion massager with infra red heat for $29.95, this immediately relieved muscle spasms. found at wally world after i had purchased a professional mini thumper that was so heavy i could not hold.....i do the exercises in book...thank you mr. mckenzie for writing this book..........a chronic back ache woman....... 5 stars ( Treat Your Own Back ) - Very clear and useful information.
