5 stars (an excellent product made even better) - I've had earlier versions of this product and eagerly await updated editions since they only get better. For those who have never used it, this is an indispensable tool to open a wide variety of files you may get through the Internet or shared in other ways for which you have no application on your computer. This includes the latest MS Word and Excel 2004 files as well as WordPerfect 12. This highly clever and sophisticated program, which installs very quickly and easily, allows you to open most Windows files, pictures, and e-mail attachments you can't otherwise. It converts both Windows and Macintosh files and allows you to share reformatted files easily on disk or through the Internet. With this program you can translate virtually any file you get, and also view files or pictures with applications you don't own. Further, you can create custom settings to automatically convert certain files. This feature I like since I can drag old databases I created in MS Works in the late 1980s onto a separate icon you can set up to automatically convert them to recent database programs. Slick! For the few files you still cannot open, the program gives tips on opening them, though with past editions I would have liked more information offered here. So far, I'm not sure what to expect on this issue with Version 15.0 since everything I've tried to open has indeed opened fine! One recent feature of MacLinkPlus allows you to carry documents on your iPod, such as directions and "to-do" lists. But not having an iPod, I can only guess is a good feature. All and all, I find this product very very useful and wonder how anyone can live without it. ...

Microsoft Virtual PC 2004

5 stars (I can't believe I haven't tried this before) - I've been using computers for 25 years, so I'm a bit jaded and not easily wowed. However, using Virtual PC 2004 has wowed me. I've stayed away from this kind of software in the past because I worried that it would run very slowly. I was wrong. I have now created two virtual machines, one Windows XP Pro and one Linux distro (PCLinuxOS) and I couldn't be happier. Not only can I run other operating systems without rebooting, but they run nearly as fast as normal. Even better, I can close them into a kind of hibernate mode so that the next time I start them up they are right where I was before. I have also set up the undo disk feature. With that, if I screw something up I can just decide to not save any changes to the virtual machine. So, if I get a virus it doesn't do any damage. If a software install trashes the system it doesn't do any real damage. Finally, I can access my host PC from the virtual PC to exchange files just as I would on a normal network. I highly recommend this software. Get the 45-day trial version first, and then I'll bet you buy a copy just like I did. 5 stars (I am loving it!) - Yesterday evening I downloaded the virtual pc 45 day trial from microsoft to try out on my tablet pc. Within an hour, using only my net connection (no floppy, no cdrom) I had a running Debian Linux system. This really rocks! Minix is meant for educational use, and university lab PCs are not always available for dedicated use. I downloaded the free VPC for Windows demo. 4 stars (Features) - The features worked as described. The launcher interface is a little hokey. It is a picture of a phone and you click on the buttons of the phone to open the features. I liked the ringtone editor, very complete; though the included background tracks were somewhat lacking. I don't use the date planner stuff, so I don't know about that. My pictures and contacts downloaded quite easily though it is painfully slow. Overall a good buy if you want to back up your own data or create your own ringtones etc. I personally like entering all my contact data via keyboard and send it up to the phone - easier and faster. 3 stars (needs improvement) - Positives: + easy to install + user friendly software + can import outlook contacts + can support multiple phones Negatives: - doesn't run under a limited user account in windows - doesn't recognize the second phone if it is the same model as the first phone - doesn't come with a variety of wallpapers and ringtones like other data cables ...

4 stars (ok but hard to setup) - the program works great once you figure a few things out.had to call tech support but they were very helpful 1 stars (they don't tell you this) - I purchased the sofware and cable for my LG600. I passed up the verizon version because Susteen';s supposidly allowed you to edit ringtones and images. It does not do that very well. I purchased it so I would not have to reenter 250 contacts into my phone and could back it up incase of phone loss or falure. We after almost a year of dealing with Datapilots tech support, on my own I found that if you had Verizon move your contacts from one phone to another, Datapilot will not be able to transfer. the program will crash after just a few entries. I now have to spend another $80 to buy Verizons version and have only contact capability. DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCT FROM SUSTEEN. THEY DON'T TELL YO EVERYTHING. ...

1 stars (Not what it seems at all) - If you have a single laptop you want to blanket transfer onto a single new machine, this *may* do the job, but there are far better tools to achieve this objective. If you want to transfer *some* files or applications to another computer, forget it. You will have much less trouble with a floppy disk and the original installation files. The job will definitely be quicker. Anything outside of these two possible tasks is not allowed by the license. Even though they mention multiple transfers, that is not what it seems. Read the fine print or talk to technical support and you will discover that you are very limited in what you can achieve. The standard Microsoft Backup/Restore is a better choice and the chances are you already have it. I bought it, and in the end I had to use something else, now it's gathering dust. 2 stars (Won't Do What You Think It Will) - Let me tell you what this won't do. This won't let you pick and choose which software to move. It won't let you pick and choose which files to move. It won't be error-free. It won't know not to transfer certain Windows files. It won't be followed up on by good tech support. Boil your decision down to your bottom line here. You want to be able to transfer your software, settings, and files from your old computer to your new computer, including full-version, licensed software (like Photoshop for example). You will NOT be able to do so with ease using this software. Get the AlohaBob software. Just look up in the section above that shows what people actually bought after viewing this software. Forget PC Mover. It simply will NOT work. Get the AlohaBob software. Make sure you get the ULTRA version, not the standard. Ultra control let's you pick and choose. 5 stars (One of the great programs!) - Remember XTree? It could do just about everything. Conversions Plus, though a different kind of program, is also one of the great programs ever written. Someone send you a graphic that's garbled? Or a WordPerfect file? Conversions Plus will bring them to light, easily, and (usually) perfectly. It's one of those programs that will have you saying "how could I have worked without this?" 5 stars (It Works!!!) - In a nutshell this is a program that works exactly like it says. I had several hundred files created with Clarisworks 2.0 word processing software. Conversion Plus converted them to Microsoft Word without a hitch. Everything was perserved: font, italics, spacing, it was all there. It saved me a few months worth of typing. Not a bad deal for $65. ...
