Geosystems - An Introduction to Physical Geography 6th Edition

3 stars (Geosystems/Sixth Edition) - Good Book! Lots of good illustrations and examples, with an overubundance of current world data, and concepts. This book would be great to use in conjunction with classroom lectures for a sixteen week or full semester course, so that you have an opportunity to absorb pertinent material. With the amount of information in this book I would not recommend its' use for a short eight week internet course. 1 stars (This is NOT a paperback textbook!) - What Amazon neglects to inform you on this page is that this book is actually the *STUDY GUIDE* for the hardcover textbook, not the textbook in paperback form. Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time- The Historical Jesus - the Heart of Contemporary Faith

4 stars (The future of christianity) - Fundementalists beware, your world may be shaken when you read this intelligent book. Borg is a great scholar and theologian. he has a nice touch and presents jesus in a believable and humble light without taking away the divine aspect. This is an antidote against religious fundementalists who wnat to own Jesus and create an exclusive cult they call christianity. 4 stars (Informative book about the historical Jesus) - I actually decided to read Borg's books after reading some of John Crossan's books where Borg was referenced. I thought the set-up of this book was extremely helpful in illustrating what Borg was discussing. However, I think I had hoped this would be more of a "heart-felt" novel. I understand Borg had to get in all the historical information about Jesus (and he did an incredible job at that) but I had hoped he would speak of Jesus on more of an emotional level. I felt as I was more of an outsider looking in on the life of Jesus rather than a comrade right next to him. And perhaps that is the effect Borg wanted. All in all, a great book with great information. What I found most interesting in this whole book was the link between Jesus and Sophia (wisdom). Borg makes an excellent point to contrast the "Son of God" image of Jesus by saying Jesus was personified as Wisdom- a feminine term in Greek. He does this to stress the many metaphors used when defining Jesus and says we must not take them literally. All in all a great read with great information. 5 stars (Dr. Borg is a gifted writer and loving Spirit filled person) - Before reading Marcus Borg's masterpiece "Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time" I was a self proclaimed agnostic. Jesus I Never Knew- The

5 stars (Heart-healing for the Agnostic) - I found this book full of surprises, relevant to the secular-religious debate and an entertaining, thoughtful read. Yancey opened and enriched my perspective on Jesus. 5 stars (Thought provoking...) - It is an amazing book that forces me to look at Jesus from a totally different perspective. Basically, it appars that God accepted Job's implied challenge to see the world through "Human" eyes, and history is made and the world is changed forever. Excellent reading... 3 stars (I wanted more.) - I wanted more. Miracles, Yancey quotes C.S Lewis stating that miracles work by natural laws. When Jews changed the water too wine suggested natural laws were used to create the miracle. This is not rationale to me. The logic goes as follows, the water was consumed by the grape, the grapes grows from nutrients and sunlight, the grape is harvested, the grape juices ferment, the end result is wine. The wine is a product of natural, mechanical, and manufacturing processes, a feat reproduceable by any mortal. What about the parting of the red Sea? One could state, this phenomena was the result of high speed winds that separated the water, dried out the land, and allowed the children of Israel to cross over, and as the Egyptians attempted the crossing, the wind stopped blowing, and the water buryed the Egyptians. So, Natural laws combine with time manipulation explaining the miracle. The implication being that if man could manipulate time and mechanical processes, any miracle could be performed by applying natural laws. Furthermore, one could might conclude miracles are a lack of scientific knowledge and if one possessed such knowledge there would be no miracle just rational application of information. For example, if a bioengineering gene therapy was used to kill cancer cells then the miracle is the application of the medicene, not a divine intervention. 4 stars (Beautiful Book) - This is a beautiful, coffee-table worthy book. The information is detailed and thorough. However, I am just starting the landscaping process, and was hoping for a book that I could study to decide WHAT I want to plant; possibly a book divided into categories. This book is organized entirely alphabetically. With this book, you must already know the plant and can then get any information about it you want. It will be useful once my landscaping is finished. 3 stars (Encyclopedia of Garden Plants) - This is an excellent book only if you know the name of your plants. If you are looking to find out what the name of a specific plant is, the book is just way to huge to go through page by page to find out its name. 4 stars (AHS A-Z of Plants) - An excellent work. Full of detailed photos and comprehensive and thorough information on most varieties you are likely to encounter. Easy to reference and locate responses to your gardening questions. Downside is the book is a little heavy and a little expensive. ...

The Case for Christ- A Journalist-s Personal Investigation of the Evidence for Jesus

5 stars (Can't Deny Jesus ) - If anyone doubts that Jesus was God in the flesh, this book will prove it to be true. This is a book for the "Prove It To Me" types, Lee does that. If one is agnostic or atheist, this book is a good read, open minded and fair. 5 stars (actually pretty good) - In my search for my faith, I was recommended Strobel's Case for Christ. It has turned out to be a good choice. Sure Strobel doesn't present everything or even both sides (interviewing a rebuttal expert would have been a welcomed addition). And some of the arguements were weak, like the section on archeology (though I feel that was more the fault of his expert than the evidence out there), the chapter "Was Jesus Convinced That He Was teh Son of God?, the psychological evidence, the chapter on the evidence of his appearances after death, and the final chapter, the circumstantial evidence. But even after that is said, Strobel's book makes a strong case for the life of Christ as the Son of God. The book makes no apologies for being a book supporting Christianity, but then that is what it is. It's sure to be a true joy for those with faith and I think is valuable for those searching, though only as a starting place and not where you want to stop. 5 stars (Certainly a legitimate argument) - Lee Strobel's The Case for Christ is a must read for anyone struggling with Jesus questions. Strobel sets off on a two-year journey, with a plethora of questions about Christianity, in hopes of getting some answers one the most disputed figures in history. With FICTIONAL books, like Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code, causing people to question the truth of Christianity, Lee's journey to faith is the answer. Personally, I do not understand the negative reviews of the book, which suggest Strobel's book as an apologetic. It is, but, contrary to what the reviewer's say, Strobel never set out to find faith in Christ. In fact, from the outset, Strobel admits that he is a skeptic, looking to bury the expert...

4 stars (An adequate sequel to 'Eragon,' yet moderately flawed) - One of the most compelling aspects of the Inheritance series stems from the fact that it belongs to the young adult/teen fiction genre and owes its existence to an author who started the series as a teen, and currently has two bestselling books under his belt as a young adult. A high school graduate at age 15, this author, Christopher Paolini, has some impressive credentials on his resume, and it is obvious that his inspiration for writing was driven by a penchant for fantasy/adventure-type fiction. In a sense, this actually makes reading these books just as drivingly forceful as it enables the reader to explore the world of literature as told from the perspective of one who has lived less than thirty years. ` Eldest ' (book two in the series) can be broken down into two storylines. The first storyline has our heros, Eragon and Saphira, sent to the land of elves known as Ellesmera, where Eragon must complete his Dragon Rider training. This training will become useful later as they must confront evil forces that threaten the peaceful atmosphere of Alagaesia. The second storyline focuses on Eragon's cousin, Roran. Back at their home in Carvahall, the village is threatened by the infestation of Ra-zac, and it is up to Roran to lead the denizens to freedom as he strives to rescue his love interest Katrina who is being held captive. To do that, however, he will need the assistance of Eragon. The result is a clash of opposing forces between the dragon riders and the ra-zac and this really puts our hero's training to the test.
