2 stars (Earlier versions are better) - This book includes numerous tear-out exercises and cases. It might be appropriate for a classroom but it is not ideal for prospective entrepreneurs. Earlier versions of this book had good material on writing a business plan and determining appropriate sources of capital and less extraneous fillers. Save yourself a lot of money and buy a more practical book on the subject or the 1995 version if you want the business plan and financing materials. 5 stars (Book condition) - Very quick delivery. Book had some marks, but excellent condition. Would recommend strongly if you want the book right away. 4 stars (Comprehensive "Owners' Manual" for Entrepreneurs) - Like the previous reviewer, I too purchased the 4th Edition of this text (paperback), and was extremely pleased. Before starting my current business, I consulted extensively with this text, and was pleased with its comprehensive, practical nature - covering everything from a personality assessment of one's readiness for self-employment, to exhaustive preparation information for a business plan. The book also extensively covers financing an entrepreneurial venture, comparing both debt and equity (including Venture Capital) methodologies. On a practical note, I also like the fact that all the pages are perforated...there have been several that I have taken out and used hands-on! I cannot comment on the relative worth of this version vs. the newer version, as I only have the 4th edition. ...

5 stars (This is one of the best business statistics book) - This book is used in the course of Business Statistics at University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. This is a useful and understandable book. The questions are well-prepared.Also,the statistics program PhSTAT is given with this book. I advise you to buy. 2 stars (Good, but could be better) - This book is okay, but it could definitely be better. For a basic statistics class, this book contains WAY too much information to digest in a semester of college. No professor I know of has ever gotten past chapter 8. Further, the problems are quite wimpy as far as the amount of thought required for them. Quite wimpy. Could be better. The only good thing is that for doing it on a spreadsheet, the data comes on a CD, so that you don't have to re-type it, thankfully. ...

5 stars (Got a minute?) - A simple, straightforward story that provides handy advice for anyone who has to manage people. To boot, most should be able to finish it in a few hours time. Truly a classic, I give it 5 stars easy. Other self-help books I liked include "The No-Beach, No-Zone, No-Nonsense Weight Loss Plan, A Pocket Guide To What Works. Happy reading! 5 stars (Must read for anyone) - This book is a must read for everyone whether they are a boss, parent or just someone who is interested in becoming more effective in their life. I did not know what to expect for the library binding, but I have been very happy so far. It is a plain hardcover with a piece (color) of the original softcover professionally glued to the front. The content is exactly as it should be. Much better durability and great quality. Robert-s Rules of Order Newly Revised in Brief Roberts Rules of Order in Brief

5 stars (Buy this one first) - Even though I have both the "in Brief" and the unabridged editions, it is only the "in Brief" edition that I take with me to my meetings. I recommend that you buy and read the "in Brief" edition first. 5 stars (User-friendly meeting guide) - This has to be the most user-friendly book I've seen, starting with the inside of the front cover. It says, "If you only have 30 minutes" then read certain chapters. Somehow these experts figured out what the rest of us would need to know and how we would be looking for it. Maybe they had a panel of non-experts to critique. There are chapters detailing what the words are that you use to make something happen and how to use those words. Best of all, everywhere you look there are copious examples. In the back are succinct tables of those same words and there is also a chapter on how to find the completely complete information on the topic in the big "Robert's" book Most of the book is concerned with what you need to know as a member of the group. There are separate chapters for an officer of the group, which contain the things that most of us don't need to know. This is not a book you'd save for a winter evening curled up in front of the fireplace. It's to tell you all sorts of things you'd really rather not have to know, but that you really need to know. I've already decided that mine is mine alone. Nobody is going to borrow it because it would never come back to me. ...

3 stars (Some good ideas, but not the best.) - This is a good book, but it is not one of the best. Get copies of Kotter, Schein, Beitler, or Collins' books. 5 stars (An Excellent How To Guide on Managing/Creating Change.) - I found the book to be extremely informative. Douglas Smith has done a masterfull job of creating a step by step guide for the process of both Creating and Managing Change in any organization. He also points out why many Change Efforts fail. The 10 step guide that he has created should help us all avoid the common pitfalls of this process and help greatly improve our odds of success. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is either thinking about starting a change effort or currently in the midst of one now. 5 stars (The best hand-on book about Change Management available.) - This is clearly the best book about the practical side of Change Management I've read so far (and I've read more then 20 by now). 1 stars (A book for graduates--Not undergrads) - After the first week of our class falling behind, my professor mentioned to our class that this book was the wrong format for undergrads. So this book is only good as the teacher and the students. It's easy to read, but hard to understand. And, the CD-ROM was not user-friendly enough, but had an awesome integration into MS Excel. I aced all of my math classes in college (undergrad), but this class...I'm not gonna to ace. But if you aced all math classes and you're using this book for a grad class, then go for it. Otherwise, find another book. 5 stars (Great Book) - I had one of the worst instructors on the planet this semester. I literally had to teach myself this entire course. 5 stars (Packed with Knowledge!) - Leadership isn't easy. The best leaders force their followers to face unpleasant realities and then figure out the solutions for themselves. That's why leadership is so risky, argue Ronald A. Heifetz and Marty Linsky in this engaging tome. The authors analyze the successes and failures of leaders ranging from Yitzhak Rabin to Bill Clinton, with stops along the way to examine the leadership styles of former Coca-Cola CEO M. Douglas Ivester and NBA coach Phil Jackson. At times, the authors' rules of thumb seem too general. Yet, their real-world examples blend well with their leadership theory to present a useful guide to leadership. This makes it much better to digest as one can read and not be overwhelmed with pages upon pages of info that will keep you from reading it. 4 stars (Very useful + PMBOK must - Passed exam) - Yes this book is good. But ONLY in conjunction with PMBOK guide. The Inputs/Tools/Outputs are not that intuitive in Rita's book. I had several questions that I could answer only with PMBOK's knowledge. 5 stars (Easy to Understand) - Good study guide that is easy to read. Nice sample questions at the end that can help prepare one for the exam. 4 stars (Found it very useful for PMP Prep) - Initially I did not buy this book when I was starting PMP preparation. When I heard about the Book and CD in many forums, I was curious to try it out. The book and CD together turned out to be very useful, even through I wouldn't say those were essential for my prep work. The CD comes with 1300 questions, which gave a whole lot confidence after trying out. The prices are bit high though. I also used Andy Crowe book and lots of reference on PMI web site. I passed PMP with an overall score of 82%. ...
