5 stars ( Night ) - Night Author Elie Wiesel Have you ever been tortured to the point when you just want to give up and die? Well, Elie and his father have been through this experience. Elie is a young fifteen year old teenager who would battle for his right in any situation. He also lives with his father. He was born in a little town called Sighet in Transylvania and lived a modern life until the Nazis came to Elie's home town and started to gather up the jews. They were put into trains that were so crammed that you couldn't even sit down. No one had a clue where they were going. They then arrived at a concentration camp called Auschwitz. The sight of seeing children being thrown into the crematories made Elie think...is my life going to end here? Elie and his father were treated like rats and lived off of every scrap of food possible. All of a sudden Elie and his father had to change camps and head out to another concentration camp called Buchenwald. They had no transportation. The officers forced them to run nonstop to get there. Elie's father tried to give up and die in his sleep, but Elie kept trying to pursued his father to keep running until they could reach the camp. People were being trampled and many were freezing to death from the cold. No one cared, no one bothered to give any food, and the only thing Elie could think about was is there a way to survive? Or is this the end? Find out yourself and read the heart stopping thriller called Night (You won't believe what you will read!). Night is my most favorite book of all time, even though it is the most disturbing book that I have ever read. If you are not into the type of books that have love stories, drama, and happy endings I suggest you read this book. If you did not like The Diary of Anne Frank it would be better to read this book because it really explains how cruel the Nazis were to the poo...

5 stars (inspiring and useful) - For me, an incredibly useful perspective on suffering. I would even go as far as to say paradigm shifting. You should especially read this if you are succeptible to depression. 4 stars (Insight into search for meaning) - This book is cited often by diverse authors providing life guidance on building a purposeful life filled with meaning. I wanted to read the original myself to see what the fuss was about. There is much here. 5 stars (Just read it.) - It isnt a lengthy book, but it's a great book. It's a book you will read again. It's a book you will read before you go to sleep at night and again when you wake in the morning. If you think your life is rough and not worth living this book WILL give you hope. Art Deco- 1910-1939

5 stars (The greatest book on Art Deco!) - This book is an absolute triumph. First, it is positively gorgeous - the images just leap off the pages. Second, the essays are more in-depth, engaging, and informative than any other book I've found on the subject. This book discusses every facet of Art Deco as well: it explores the origins at the Paris Exhibition in 1925, goes through the influence in East Asia, Latin America, and South Africa, not to mention Europe. A great chapter on Deco in Hollywood; also explores all of the sources, iconography - and all of this on top of covering every aspect of the movement - ceramics, jewelry, fashion, architecture, glass, photography, graphic design, bookbindings, travel and transport, and so so much more - with stunning visuals. A fantastic read, a great resource, a beautiful work, and an absolute MUST for anyone interested in the subject! Well worth the money, and a fantastic addition to any library. Highly recommended! 5 stars (The first and last word on Deco.) - A sumptuous coffee-table book of this exuberant art style and I think it could well become the standard book on the subject. The forty essays are divided into four sections, Sources and Iconography, 1925 Paris Exhibition, Spread of Deco and finally Deco World, and I liked the way, especially in Sources and Iconography, that the authors explain how various art styles were moulded into deco art which culminated in the very influential 1925 Paris show. I thought the last two sections were a fascinating coverage of how Art Deco spread around the world, mainly as architecture and fashion, though in Europe also as a fine art style. In North America, it influenced a huge range of commercial products. Perhaps this was the only art form that was truly democratic in that it was available (as streamlining) to be seen or bought on any Main Street across the Nation. 5 stars (The Greatest Game Ever Played) - I love this book. I am a woman over 60 who started playing golf 8 years ago. I have achieved a 17 handicap and realize how tough this game. The Greatest Game is a marvelous account of real people, playing a grueling game. I have just spent 4 days playing BAndon Dunes. This is akin to the era of The Greatest Game. I can't wait for the movie. 5 stars (Golf history is great!) - This is a must read for anyone wanting to know about the early history of American golf. This book is soon to come out in a movie - so I would read it as soon as you can! 5 stars (The greatest book about the greatest game) - Frost's account may not be truly be about the "birth of modern golf" but it certainly recounts the beginning of the popularity, if not the ascendency, of golf in the United States. The portraits of the characters in this saga, from Vardon, to Ouimet and even Eddy Lowry made vivid the explicit details of the critical rounds played on those hallowed Country Club grounds. It was golf history in the style and scholarship of Barbara Tuchman. A fabulous read for any with a passion for history and golf, even if you have never been interested in the history of golf.
