Click Football

An action packed game of football. This is no manager, or text based game of football. This is an armchair quarterbacks dream. Should they go for it on 4th and inches? Or punt the ball and hope for good field position next time. Pass, Run, Punt, Field Goal attempts, extra points and two point conversions all with a few clicks. Special plays like Long Bomb, and Quarterback Sneaks. Blitz the run or the pass, or choose a sack attempt...

Backyard Football 2004

5 stars (super!!!) - this is a really cool game but, it wouldn't save my stuff.maybe it's just my comp or game. other than that evry thing is super 5 stars (GREAT!) - The game is nice.It is very easy.I also like the pros.It is a rearly good game. 4 stars (Good, But Not Great) - This is a good game, but I have a few reccomendations and I have found a few flaws. Here is a list of them. Mr.Clanky - It is cool that you unlock him after you win the backyard world series but you can`t put him on your normal team, in fact you can only use him in a single game! players - they are basicly good but their skill ratings are a little off on a few of them, for instance a person who the game says is great at batting, like Barry Bonds can really be pretty bad at it. trading - I haven`t gotten far but I am pretty confident that there is not and will not be a trading option, and i think that it would be cool if you could trade with other players or the computer. skills - It would be nice if your players skill ratings increased with the experience they get from games. graphics - The graphics are ok but not anything special. I think this is a good game and that is why I gave it four stars, so I can`t wait to get the upcoming versions. ...

XB NCAA Football 2006

5 stars (Great Game!!!!!) - I had never purchased an NCAA football game until this one, and I must say that I am happy that I did. I love the college feel that it brings to the table. Playing the Texas and Ohio State game in the Horseshoe with the crowd going nuts and the screen shaking was awesome!!! I see that a lot of people are complaining about the fact that throwing long passes is just too easy, but I have to ask if anyone ever watches college football on Saturdays? This is exactly what happens week in and week out in college football. Reason being is that there more than twice as many talented wide outs than there are corners in college football and I feel that that is accurately portrayed in this game. I don't have any gripes with this game except for the fact that in the rush for the heisman mode you are the automatic starter no matter what program you go to, and you don't have the ability to change the depth charts except for when the game is about to start and you have to do this before every game. All in all this is a great game and because if it my Madden 06 disc is collecting dust on my entertainment center. 3 stars (Hailmary Wonderland...Yikes!) - Last years version of the game was okay at best. One could bomb the ball up and have your reciever snag it about 3/4 of the time. This year, this is not the case....its worse. The playaction deep bomb is over done. I have played six games on Hiesman and have broken every school & game record by nearly double. The great part is the recievers will catch the ball in stride, but the DBs fight over the ball and knock eachother out of the play! If you are okay w/ this flaw, the game is great. But when there is a money play this easy to execute, it puts the game down quite a bit. Rent before you buy, in my opinion, this flaw ruins the game. 5 stars (Now everyone has a reason to go to college) - NCAA Football 2006 captures the college atmosphere extremely well. The game is loads of fun. The load times are decent, th...

PS2 NCAA Football 2006

2 stars (Okay this is the deal.) - The graphics are good the game looks good. Got some cool features so it must be a good game right? ehh wrong. The problem with this game is that it has a certain program that when ever you start winning it comes back and beats you. It has happened to me and my friends several times. I once had a RB break 7 tackles for a TD and I lost the game because of that. Another thing is it's main focus is on scoring. Your DB can't play Defense worth crap. They will always get burn no matter what. Its total crap. I prefer 2005 over '06. 2005 is more Defense and you have to acctually work for a TD or a point instead of throwing up a ball and having your reciever come down with it every time. Save your money and buy another game. 5 stars (National Championship game!) - The game will indeed be challenging for long time college football fans...especially if your game is rated as a greatest game...my game with my team Penn State went to triple overtime before Penn State won with an intereception. Worth the money! 5 stars (THE BEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) - This game is so cool! The race for the hiesman mode is amazing. Plus the Washington Huskies suck which is even better!Go Cougs! ...

Snot Bubbles- A Football Primer for Moms- Wives - Significant Others 2nd Edition

5 stars (Great book for new football moms!) - My somewhat sports inclined 9th grader decided to go out for football this year. I found myself in the stands not knowing anything other than the ball needs to go into the end zone. I searched and found this book. It's great. My son no longer rolls his eyes because I don't understand what he's saying. I know all the positions and I'm learning the calls. Pretty good for just a couple of weeks. I'm still not sure I like it when my baby is at the bottom of that pile of sweaty boys, but the book told me "Moms NEVER go on the field." Good read. 5 stars (Actually, it's Even a book for Guys ) - You'd think every guy in America (if not the whole planet) knew the details of football. Well, some -- albeit not many -- do not. It was late in life that my interest in football (NFL & collegiate) really sparked, and I wanted to know much more about the strategy and workings of the game. First I got the Idiot's Guide, and it was fine. Then I got the Dummies book, and it helped as well. But I was still confused on the very basics, which is "who is what player and how do they fit into the game?" So, when I stumbled across Snot Bubbles, it looked to be worth a try. Good choice! It does cover the very basics, and does so very well!!! So, to anyone else that really wants to know the absolute basics, this is a book to read. The others -- Idiot's and Dummies -- are also fine, although they are more detailed. The Idiot's does an especially good job of explaining things worth knowing, like what is a Color Analyst, or a Hail Mary, and what do you mean by Snot Bubbles???? 5 stars (They're baaaack!) - Ladies! Football widows! It's football season again. And you still don't know a thing about it! Well, that can change. Snot Bubbles is the definitive answer. Written by a former non-fan whose kid got into the game, Snot Bubbles will teach you what "yardage" is, why who does what when, and what it all means. Catch up with the "know-it...

The Complete Idiot-s Guide to Football 2nd Edition

3 stars (Good for football culture, kinda weak and jargony on actual rules) - I like the straightforwardness of the writing, and the insight into the appeal of the game. Alas, if you're an outsider hoping to learn the game from scratch, you're going to have a lot of trouble--after teaching you rudimentary terms, the writers start describing the game as if you've been watching it all your life, tossing barely-introduced jargon around all over the place. I was really disappointed that the one aspect of the game I was most interested in (the actual GAME) was so poorly rendered. 5 stars (You will know football even though you are not an American) - I'm a Chinese girl and never watched any American football games in Hong Kong until I married to an American and moved to United States one and half years ago. He is a football fan and he keeps track his team every day, not to mention especially during the regular season every Sunday. I started to watch football games with him, and I liked it a lot. Now, I understand why so many American like football. I asked many questions while I was watching the game, because I wanted to understand it more. Therefore, I read this book last year and it gave me a lot of basic information in an easy way. More interesting is the book gives many statistics and facts that I was impressed by the football business. Anyone has no idea about football, this book can help. Now, my husband was surprised that I knew football so well and we discussed football a lot during the regular season this year. This book helps us to have more conversation topics. 5 stars (Excellent book) - I have been an NFL fan for 20+ years but, never having played the game, I didn't completely understood all the different player positions and their responsibilities. Joe Theismann did an outstanding job explaining the rules, positions, history and everything else about the game. I knew most of the basic rules but not all of them. For example, Joe explains which rules ...

Football Physics - The Science of the Game

4 stars (Good Book for the Sports Fan Who Likes Science) - From start to finish this was a fascinating book. There is also a great deal of football history sprinkled throughout. It does a great job introducing the football portion of the topic, then the physics lesson, and then combines them to understand how the physics principle is implemented in real life. It does take a basic understanding of physics to really grasp the concepts since the book does not go into a great deal of detail on the principles. It starts with the fundamentals of blocking a tackling and you gain a much greater understanding of the forces an NFL player can generate. Then you get to understand the precision required to run a passing and kicking game. I especially enjoyed the section on pursuit angles and maximizing the yardage gain. A very fast read that was very enjoyable. 5 stars (I Wish I'd Had This for a Physics Textbook) - If Thmothy Gay doesn't rewrite this book into a high school level physics text he's really missing a bet. Of course I don't know anything about selling textbooks, but boy, I sure wish I'd had something like this when I was first taking physics in high school. Dr. Gay is both a professor (atomic physics) and a football fan. What happens when a heavy, fast moving player (like Warren Sapp) hits a much lighter quarterback (Doug Flutie)who is standing still? This is such a better question than a mass of blah with a speed of blah-blah, and so on. Or what was the accuracy required of Joe Montana in throwing to Jerry Rice in The Catch during SuperBown XXIII. Montana had to throw the ball at just the right speed, just the right direction, and just the right time. But how fast, how accurately, and what was the margin of error on his timing. The book is a delightful read on aspects of the game of football rarely seen. 5 stars (Great book for football fans and science students...) - If you're a football fan but don't know anything about physics, this book will teach y...

Soccer for Dummies

5 stars (Great intro) - This is a book, especially for parents who are trying to figure out the game and people who'd like to learn more about it. 1 stars (A complete waste of time) - This is the first time I have reviewed a book for Amazon. I am doing this because I consider this book to be 100% garbage. If you are looking for a book full of annoying cross references (i.e. see page 118; see page 73) and for a book which repeats the same quotes or phrases in different chapters (was there really no editor?) BUY THIS BOOK. Also, if you are looking for cheap tid-bits and trivia about the US women's soccer team (was it really necessary to write three times about one female ripping her shirt off after a goal?) BUT THIS BOOK. If you want to have a general overview about the rules of Soccer but want nothing of strategy, technique, training, then BUY THIS BOOK. (or why not just go to the FIFA website and download the same rules which make up 50% of this book) But if you want to learn how to play or coach soccer, forget it. This book is a COMPLETE waste of time. 5 stars (Excellent intro for newcomers; solid content for veterans) - Carries on the excellent tradition of the "for dummies" books: offers solid content and information for veteran soccer afficionados while organized as a well-written, well rounded introduction for the novice. Gives comprehensive overviews about all aspects of the game -- rules, strategies, the world of professional soccer (the leagues, tournaments, events), as well as an excellent history of the game and its development. It's refreshing to see a book for newcomers that doesn't strip things down - there is a wealth of well-researched information here that is useful for the experienced fan or participant. ...

Get Your Own Damn Beer- I-m Watching the Game- - A Woman-s Guide to Loving Pro Football

5 stars (For Novices and Those Who Think They're Pros, Too!) - My knowledge of football is limited but I've always enjoyed the game. Holly Robinson Peete writes with humor as well as honing in on the "fears" of women who don't understand the game. I learned a lot and refer to it as I watch this year's onslaught of games. She also provides interesting anecdotal comments and facts about the history of the game and its famous and infamous players. 5 stars (Finally!! It all makes sense) - As a true b-ball fan, I never really appreciated the great american sport of football. I became more and more intrigued by the sport as I followed our Carolina Panthers to the Superbowl, season before last. Although I religiously watched all of the playoff games, I certainly couldn't hold my own in a conversation about the games. But now I have to say I believe I can. Holly, girl, you did the dog gone thing. Men even seemed to be the impressed by the mere fact that I was reading a book about football (as I found at the airport earlier this week). This book is fun, sassy and informative. I can hardly wait until this season's opener. Bring on the beer, wings and yes, even ice cream. I'm lovin' it! ...

Football for Dummies- Second Edition

4 stars (Good But Still Doesn't Answer Why The Ball Isn't Round...) - And if it isn't round, why is it called a "ball"? Maybe it's been false advertising all these years. Maybe there really IS no such sport as footBALL. Maybe America's favorite weekend sport should be called "footoblong". There, I feel better now. This book starts with the most basic of basics and explains the hows and whys of football at a pace where even the most calculus-poisoned of intellectuals can soon know as much about the sport as any slack-jawed jock. Offense, defense, flags on the field, third and long, shotgun passes, sacks, conferences, pre and post season play, illegal but funny clothesline tackles, and why it's called a 'gridiron'. It's all here. Begin at one end of this user-courteous how-to tome and proceed to the other and by the time you get there you'll be ready to work on your beer belly in your weekend easy chair, bottle of brewski to your right, bag o'chips on your left, remote in your lap, kids locked in the car till halftime. This book can help anyone, newcomer to the sport or lifelong fanatic, pick up some new information on why it's so much fun to watch two teams of glandular cases with necks the size of tree trunks smash into each other in pursuit of a little pigskin ball...I mean "oblong". 3 stars (Mediocre guide...) - I am an avid football fan and I love to learn new material about the game everyday. I bought this book because I thought it would be a good supplement to the game. I was disappointed. The book itself is not very detailed. It should have been more accurate in depicting game plays and its players. Howie Long played defense in the NFL and I found it ammusing how the book was very defense oriented. Sometimes, the book was too "silly" and not informative enough. However, I found some chapters like the ones about the quarterback and the college teams interesting to read. 4 stars (not perfect, but it's all right) - I am not american. I have allways enyo...

Tales from the San Francisco 49ers Sideline

5 stars (Great Book by a Great Player and a Great Person!) - I had the opportunity to meet Roger Craig at a charity basketball game last fall and he seemed like a great guy. Being a lifelong 49er's fan, I was thrilled to find out that one of my favorite players of all time had a book coming out. It's a nice, light, and insightful read that can be done in one sitting but the stories and lessons that "Catfish" provides will stay with you for a long time. A definite must for any fan of the "Team of the 80's" and also an interesting read for any NFL fan. Thanks for all of the great memories Roger! 4 stars (An enjoyable cruise through the 49ers' glory days!) - Honestly, if everyone reading this review was a San Francisco football fan, I would have given the book five stars. But I have to be fair! This book is a very easy read, and you cannot help but admire Roger Craig to the nth degree. You can really tell what kind of a football warrior this guy was by reading how he trained, and how he played with pain. Reading some of his anecdotes about the glory years put a smile on my face, and would do the same for any Niner fan. The only criticism I have regarding this book is the lack of depth (people who like light and easy reads would probably not agree with my assessment here). I already knew many of the stories Craig wrote about, and the ones I didn't know about were not explained in great detail. The best part of the book was Craig describing the deterioration of his and Eddie DeBartolo's relationship following Craig's fumble in the 1990 NFC Championship game against the New York Giants. One thing Craig fails to mention was his decline in productivity over his last year with S.F. being the chief reason he was let go via Plan B Free Agency. Craig's positive outlook on life beams off the pages of " Tales from the San Francisco 49ers Sideline ". If I had ever played in the NFL, I would want the dedication, toughness, and skill of Roger Craig by my side. 5 sta...

Pro Football Prospectus 2005 - Statistics- Analysis- and Insight for the Information Age

5 stars (Outsiders no more) - Unique and intriquing look at statistical analysis of the game of Football. Their statistics are gaining more and more recognition and deservedly so. I must have for football and fantasy fans everywhere. 4 stars (Good stuff) - The predicted stats seem a little low, but they're all low so it's still a good point of comparison. I think the custom stats are ok, analyzing football stats like baseball stats still has a way to go but this is a good starting spot. Not perfect but well worth the price. More info than a half dozen fantasy magazines, nowhere near the cost. 5 stars (If you like the NFL, you will love this book.) - Although I sometimes get bogged down with the statistical analysis in the book, once all the number crunching is done and the authors get down to discussing what they've discovered based on their analysis, it all makes sense and really makes this an oustanding book. This is a book you will read through once and then constantly refer back to during the season. Where the predictions correct? Does this team stuff the ball at the line of scrimmage like they said? Can this team convert crucial 3rd downs? All these topics are covered. GET THIS BOOK NOW! ...
