4 stars (NICE AND AFFORDABLE TOOL FOR HOBBYISTS) - For the non-professional artist and/or film-maker, this is as good as image-making gets. The combination of Photoshop Elements 4.0 and Premiere Elements 2.0 let you take your hobby to the very top without breaking the bank. Despite running much slower than the 3.0 edition, Photoshop Elements 4.0 has a number of new improvements going for it: particularly when it comes to enhancing and arranging images. Flexible range of manipulative features were included in this regard. Still, I was disappointed that Adobe decided to remove the useful file-browser feature, (which was present in the Photoshop Elements 3.0 edition). Also, Premiere Elements 2.0 is capable of handling any amateur video and audio assignment that you may want to assign to it, but be warned that it is memory-hungry. Running this video-editing application on any computer with less than 512MB of RAM may end-up testing your patience to the fullest. Unless your patience compares to that of the biblical Job, do consider it wise to upgrade your RAM (if it is less than 512MB). In terms of processor, any Pentium 4 (or its corresponding equivalent) will deliver a decent performance. The same applies to dual Pentium III equivalents. A single Pentium III processor (or its equivalent) is not the best option here! Finally, another good thing about this software bundle is that they support a wide range of digital photo cameras and video cameras. The learning curve for both Applications is not that steep. Microsoft Money 2006 Premium

4 stars (Techin' HOT!) - Helps me keep my finances on track! I can keep track of the people that borrows my money too!! This software is cool and hot!. If you're having probs with your finances, you should get it becuase you can exactly where most of your money goes. What I love is it helps you with your taxes at the end of the year also can help you plan your taxes if you want to get a certain amount of returns. I haven't played with it thoroughly to give it 5 stars plus I just got an error on it a couple of weeks ago but haven't receive the error since. I totally recommend all my friends and family to get this software. 1 stars (Money 2006 Premium) - Have used Money for several years and recently upgraded from Money 2003. The data conversion appeared to go well, but the program "lost" several reporting functions. The graphics and "reset" buttons on the report customization menus are grayed out. However, graphics in the 'Monthly Report" and in the lifetime planner work fine. MS suggestion was to create a new file and then export each account individually to the new file. With 125+ accounts that would be absurd. I did set up a small trial file with some minimal data and found all graphics functional. I still prefer the 2003 version but cannot go back now. 4 stars (MS Money 2006 has some good new features) - This update includes a sidebar to link to program features, making easier access to everything. There are also more vendors & advertisements contracted with Microsoft willing to charge you money for their services, though some are free. The one bad feature is that MS no longer provides an option to work offline. Considering that this program involves personal finances, the user should have this option. ...

Quicken Deluxe 2006 Personal Finance Software

5 stars (Excellent upgrade!) - I have been using Quicken on a continuous basis since 1994, upgrading when program quits estimating my taxes (2-3 years). This is probably the best upgrade I remember, well worth purchasing. The 2 best new features for me: - Attaching a note or document or reminder to a transaction - Finding transactions across accounts and then being able to globally or selectively edit There are several other improvements also. Program installed easily on my XP computer, 10 years data converted correctly, and can still download the 5 accounts as I did before. After 2 weeks using, everything works as should. A good upgrade, in my opinion! 1 stars (QIF imports eliminated.) - Quicken wants to rule the financial software world but I think they are will do the opposite. They have eliminated QIF imports so that they can force you to use a format that almost no one supports. Stick with Quicken 2004 and you will still be able to import your transactions from your financial institution. I wish I hadn't wasted my money. 2 stars (I have come to loathe Quicken) - I have used Quicken for about 3 months, and find that it is a royal pain to work with. There are many many features, but it doesn't take long, even when setting up new accounts, that you have to hack together imperfect ways of handling all kinds of transactions. Adobe Premiere Elements 2 0 Video Editing DVD

5 stars (This product is a must-buy offer for video editing) - I've used this product for video editing of my recent errand to Nanital. I gave stunning results and I was amazed with its ease of usability. It also includes a very comprehensive help. In summary it is another accomplishment for ADOBE. 4 stars (Premiere Elements 2.0 is a Qualified Success!) - Premiere Elements 2.0 is pretty good and easy to use. While Pinnacle Studio 9 is a bit easier to use, Premiere 2.0 does seem much more reliable that Studio. The good is that you can output both Windows and Mac in addition to DVD format video, whereas with the Apple packages, such as iMovie or even Final Cut Express you're limited to Quicktime and non-Windows formats. Editing was relatively easy, yet still has a small learning curve; the should scale the items on the screen a bit better but if you have good eyes (and I don't!) you can find just about everything at your finger tips. About the only complaint I have is that the output quality is not as good as Final Cut Express. For some reason the resulting DVD image I created was less resolution than the original/source video which was a VOB file of an old 8mm Wedding film. Not sure why that happened but it did. Also the helptext gets an average rating from me. While some information is right there, easy to get at, other stuff isn't in the help or is worded a bit too obscure. Titling is about the only thing that Pinnacle does better. Premiere's is okay, but many of the checkboxes seem to work backwards. For example the "Start off Screen" for a rolling title caused the title to start on screen and roll off screen, whereas Start On Screen had the opposite affect. So trial and error comes into play. All in all, if you're a Windows User, I would recommend it, if you're a Mac user (I use both) I would use iMovie which normally comes with your Mac or iLife package. 5 stars (Good to buy as single, best with Photoshop Elements combination) - Thanks to Adobe for giving ...

Microsoft Money 2006 Deluxe

2 stars (Some features expire in 2 years) - Decent interface, nice product overall, if you can stand the in your face advertising they have in the program for 3rd party advertisers. I can't believe I PAID to see spam. The downloads from credit cards are nice, but Microsoft announced that the downloads expire after 2 years. This has been happening since Money 2003. Money 2002 is the only one that doesn't have the credit card / bank statement downloads expire after 2 years. Google Money 2006 (in groups) to get other opinions. Oh, and if you're on the paranoid side, don't use passport. A friend was on tech support at MS and they had him turn on passport and they were able to see all of his account information over the net. I don't know how that works but its a little scary if you ask me. 4 stars (Good Solid Product) - I liked the product a lot, it is a major improvement from the 2000 version I had previously. The online service is very nice. However, not every bank is linked to money directly, so you might have to download the file into money. Very quick loading up the application. Overall a very solid application. 4 stars (Nice software could be more) - I recently upgraded from Money 2003. I was pleasantly suprised with the ability of downloading transactions for all credit card , bank and investment accounts. So all you have to do is check the info downloaded daily weekly whenever you want. Had a little trouble with one investment account but overall was easy to setup. This is real nice for those of us who are not very fast on the keyboard. Was hoping to get a product to help with retirement planning but after reviewing found it to be real weak in this area. ...

Quicken Premier Home - Business 2006

5 stars (Quicken Premier H&B 2006) - I have updated from Quicken Premier 2005. I am very please with the resoults, if I had known what was in this program I would have updated earlier. Quicken Premier H&B has many new ideas. 1 stars (Not very useful for business.) - I purchased this version for my home business. I needed to print invoices and track inventory. Also I liked the check printing feature. They failed to mention that you will need to order "Special" checks from them. The invoicing feature is very lacking in features and customability. You can't add shipping charges without making it a "Product". It did mention if you want ALL of the custom features, you need to order their Top Of The Line Quicken business program. Half of the toolbar seems dedicated to advertising products that you will need to make the program work the way you wanted it to work in the first place. If you are looking to buy this product, look on eBay, that's where my version will be tonight. 1 stars (Warning: Lack of QIF Support should be Known) - with the lack of .QIF support, this version of Quicken is a shell of the prior versions. Quicken Premier 2006 Personal Finance Software

5 stars (Definitely worth the upgrade) - Just installed Quicken Premier 2006 last night, and so far I can say it was definitely worth the upgrade. I think Intuit did an excellent job of streamlining the reporting functions. Just much easier to navigate and figure out what data you want to view. The feature within the register of viewing payment summaries of different merchants and categories is also very nice. As I have not yet set up my investments (a project for this weekend) I cannot accurately comment on this portion of the program. In summary, the overall functionality of the program is pretty much the same, so if you like your existing setup in Quicken then perhaps you don't need to upgrade. But for me personally I've always thought the interface in previous versions of Quicken was a little busy, and so this upgrade to what I consider to be a much cleaner, more streamlined interface was worth it for me. And by the way, I was able to find a full version of this product (CD only, no box or manual) online for $23... which was a bargain too good to pass up. 1 stars (Not for investors) - I finally decided it was time to upgrade from Quicken '99 (which I really liked) so that I could download stock quotes from the internet. Guess what - Quicken 2006 won't download preferred stock quotes, options quotes, or the pink sheet symbols for Canadian stocks! Quicken.com has all those types of quotes available, but they won't download into the program, making it largely useless for me. The only work-around is to create a Yahoo portfolio, download it as a csv file, then import it into Quicken. And even then, there is no "browse" to find the file. You have to manually type in the path EVERY DAY! Downloading accounts from financial institutions is a great feature with one exception: The first time you log on to, say, your credit card account, the program may download hundreds or even thousands of transactions. 1 stars (Would love to tell you but the CD was blank.) - I don't know if Amazon got a shipment of these, but I ordered two (returned the first one then got a replacement) and the second one was blank too. I wonder if anyone else had this problem. 4 stars (MS Student 2006 - Nice Study Tool) - I was originally in the market for a good encylcopedia when this product came to my attention. In the past we had good experiences with Encarta. MS Student 2006 gives us all the benefits of Encarta and much more. We bought this for my son who is a 7th grader. My son has already used this a number of times to help with his schoolwork and we have owned it less than a month. It has summaries of many novels that he has already read and many more well known titles he will be reading later down the road. It has a great math module. I also like the many links directly out of Encarta to the internet. Overall this is a nice product and well worth the price. 5 stars (Great Learning Aide) - I bought this package primarily for my 14 year old highschool freshman, but my 8 year old 2nd grader has also been using it. Certainly the best learning aide I've seen. Great research features displaying results from both the encyclopedia and the web. The online math tools include a link that let's you pick the students course book. Once set up you can go to any review item by chapter and page and read a detailed explanantion of the question just with different numbers than in the book. It has almost eliminated the time I have to spend with him on his math homework. My 2nd grader loves the kids encyclopedia and browsing information on nature and science and even my 5 year old has been looking at the pictures and photo galleries. They all seem to have fun using the software, which is certainly preferable to playing video games. Even though I'm not even close to having explored all the features, whatever I've seen so far is outstanding. It's defintely worth every penny. ...
